I am passionate about these teams, have different paraphernalia of each team, some financial interests, travel to watch at least one live game of most (Celtics/ Cubs/ Packers).

The issue for you may be there isn’t not enough attractive team sports in England for you to enjoy outside of football. While I would watch the MLS, I could care less about any MLS team, neither am I interested in golf which I deem a hobby.

Because I was a participator in that Sport till I left Uni. No time bro. You can't play 11-a-side Wednesday and Saturday, training on Monday, Powerleague on Thursday, work double-shift on Sunday to pay rent and be following other sports. I still have my boxing and Athletics to follow as well plus other European leagues to watch before I think of another sport jare. I leave that to the cheerleaders and Jack of all trade and master of none. And BTW, any ball sport using hands to play is anathema to me. I can never dig it.

This somewhat explains it sha even if I don't totally buy it. Some of us actually played for teams whose best players were scouted by and joined the academies of teams in the countries Top divisions. Still did not stop us from either watching or playing other sports.

I'd hazard a guess and say it's only anathema to you because you lack the talent needed to excel in those sports even if you tried

Every Sunday, some guys used to congregate at Finsbury Park to play the game. I went there to try a pick up game and it was dead. I couldn't understand it.

A rugby acquaintance of mine actually signed for the Steelers 2 years ago and he has quit the game this year to become a Lawyer because even he couldn't get into it.

NFL is literally a mind boggling and boring game for me.

Getting into American Footy requires a whole lot of patience with emphasise on "a whole lot". Now add into the equation the fact that most would be fans don't either follow another American sport or reside stateside, it becomes somewhat of an herculean task. The time difference also does not help matters.

I have tried converting a lot of my Rugby keen folks and most of the time is an exercise in futility. Most of them til this day call it "HAND EGG" . I think if you are well used to the ebb and flow, 80 minutes of Non stop action of a Rugby match, the constant stop and start nature of an NFL game will frustrate you. It takes a bit of getting use to.

Another area that kills Fan interest in the sport is the complex nature of it's Rules. Oh boy that's a dissertation on it's own.
