@Spotlights: Please, I need your insight based on the experience you shared below as it looks similar to my son's current situation. My son is a minor (15 years old) going for undergraduate studies (4 years program). As his father, should I position myself as the primary sponsor while his his aunt in Canada be the secondary sponsors? One year tuition and living expenses for him, his accompanying mother and younger brother (8 yrs old) is #10.5m (tuition 5.4m + expenses 5.1m), and all my savings till date is #6m. With this savings of mine, am I in best position to be the primary sponsor or his aunt (a Canadian citizen) whose savings is probably bigger than mine should be the primary sponsor while I serve as the co-sponsor? Between the annual tuition fees of 5.4m naira and living expenses of 5.1m naira: which one should I choose and write sponsorship letter for and which one should the aunt choose and write a sponsorship letter for? What are the implications if I choose to sponsor the living expenses as against tuition fees? What would the VO suspects if the aunt says she is only sponsoring the living expenses of my student son, his mother and his younger brother? Please note, this Canadian relative is my wife's aunt (i.e. younger sister to my wife's mother). She lives and works in Quebec with her own immediate family. But my son got admission into the University of Regina in Saskatchewan. Because of this long distance between Quebec and Saskatchewan, we fear VO may think she being in Quebec cannot play the role of a custodian to my son in far away Saskatchewan, hence my wife must apply together with him as his accompanying parent. To do this, my wife doesn't want to leave his 8 yrs old son behind when accompanying the elder son going to the university in Canada. Would it improve our chances of securing the study permit/TRV if we state that her visit would be temporary just to help the student-son settle down in the foreign land and that she would return immediately when that is done? We don't want the struggle of another round of searching for a nearby school to his aunt in Quebec. More so, we desire an opportunity which allows her mom (my wife) entry into Canny as this our son's minor studentship situation confers. I have just two sons and I am gainfully employed with annual gross income of 3.6m naira. I am afraid this my financial status appear too small to support this venture convincingly. Is this also a red flag? How can I bridge this gap? Your response to my plenty questions will be highly appreciated. Other gurus in the house, please kindly help with candid advise from your wealth of experience. Spotlights: |

olasubomy: Let me give my little two cents In my own opinion, VIU is very expensive for tuition compared to UWC which is way cheaper. UCW is a private instuition. Another reason why I like UCW is that if you wish, you can fast track your MBA and finish in 15 months that's without break... Back to back. however you must know that UCW is located in downtown Vancouver... The living cost there in downtown Vancouver is not beans dear. You could also look at Thompson Rivers MBA, you don't need GMAT and it's a public funded university. Also, if you have ACCA as your accounting certification. UCw has an acca pathway you could take advantage of. Also I don't think you need IELTS for most schools in Canada as a Nigerian. It's mostly needed in EE route. |

@Muslimity Reading through your note! (Basked on my understanding) A young child of 15yrs should and must be with a custodian. As it is, definitely you should be the primary sponsor as since you are capable. 1. Using many sponsors would send a wrong impression to the VO of your incapability 2. Your wife and a younger kid going with him would be for a limited time (just for him to settle down) and it wouldn't be adviced not to use a certified custodian since he is small. Remember the possibility of staying with your wife's Aunt in that far distance as mentioned (The VO would/ may help him decide that his purpose ain't legit to study going through such distance everyday- sounds untrue) 3. The letter could rather state that your Contact in canada would at anytime provide for him his needs (expenses, check ups, well being etc since she in same country with him) 4. Having such a profiled contact in canada sounds good and tricky as she could accommodate/ harbour all of you whilst you're in canada and not to return home anymore (Remember the purpose of family ties, what makes you return to your home must be well proven) I'd suggest if you could just skip your Canadian contact, pay for his homestay while your wife and the other child present an hotel to stay in the application (Not to look desperate or tryna run away.... No point giving the VO reasons to doubt eligibility) Your Canadian contact to reimburse your account instead just for you to show enough prove of funds needed. Any other advice is welcome 2 Likes |

@rebeccausoro @Luckymama @all -After doing an Upfront Medical, what's the next step to take, most esp. in the aspect of notifying CIC and making sure it reflects on my application profile - And is there a specific time frame (2-3 days or more) for an Applicant to know if he or she has passed the MEDICALS or get an Update about it. Thanks |

Good evening NL. Gurus, I have two questions 1. Is there a negative impact on my application if I withdraw some money from an account I already submitted its bank statement. I.e I submitted 4m bank statement while applying in July and in August I withdraw 200k. Note: I am yet to get request for medicals, yet to do my bvn, yet to get an AIP. 2. For a students who took a PGC (usually 1yr) and is likely to get a 1yr PGWP, what does this mean with respect to their eligibility to apply for PR? 1 Like |

olasubomy: Vancouver Island University if better rated than University of Canada West but the tuition is somehow high. University of New Brunswick is 29.5k and they waive GMAT if you have good GPA usually 4/5. If money is not an issue you can go for Vancouver Island University otherwise settle with University of Canada West, though school matter in your employability your skills matter more |

Foski01:I don’t think so, I believe VO don’t have access to how you run your account after the SOA is submitted. They sometimes ask for recent SOA from you , so I’ll advice you limit how much withdrawals you make on your account if the funds ain’t coming in too well. I stand to be corrected though. On your 2nd question : Getting PR after a one year program is doable for some. Impossible to say what your chances would be. Much higher chances with a three year PGWP. There are plenty of people who either aren't able to secure a job after they graduate from a one year program or aren't able to secure the right kind of job after they graduate from a one year program in order to qualify. |
