Good morning all, I've been following this thread for sometime, and I must say, you guys are the best. I want to apply to MUN, September 2021, for MA Economics. I have a 2.2 (3.3) in Education/Economics (B.Sc) and a masters in Accounting and Finance. The requirement is second class honours (CGPA is not specified) in Economics or related course and applicants are strongly encouraged to provide GRE score. The MA Economics is 1 year program (course based), although there is option of opting for thesis based, which is 2 years. But I prefer the 1 year option, as would be sponsoring myself. I have 3 dependants (wife and 2 kids), who would be joining me after I land in Canada. Tuition is 6,654CAD, LE = 10,000CAD, approximately N4.8m. Another N2.8m for dependants My questions: 1. What are my chances of getting admission? 2. The GRE score, is there any possibility of waving it for me? And how long does it take before test result comes out. 3. I heard applicants for Master's program are giving preference when it comes to traveling with family. How true is this? All the gurus in the house, I would appreciate a quick answer. |

I think it would be better if you write a sponsorship letter that defines you as the co-sponsor since your son's aunt might probably have greater financial strength. If his aunt is going to be the primary sponsor, then she should take care of the tuition, because paying part of the tuition or one year tuition fee will prove her willingness to sponsor your son. If you choose to take care of his living expenses, you also need to prove that you're yearly income is way above the amount you're to spend on his living expenses per year, same applies if you choose to take care of his tuition. Again, I don't think it's a good idea for the primary sponsor to specify that they're taking care of only his living expenses or tuition fee. The primary sponsor should prepare a sponsorship letter that shows that they're willing to sponsor the child in all areas while the co-sponsor can be more specific. Furthermore, assuming his aunt is the co-sponsor and decides to take care of only your son's living expenses, you should also prove that you can take care of his mother's and brother's living expenses. Hence, I don't think the VO will be biased if she decides to sponsor only your son, as long as you can prove that you're capable of taking care of the others. The relationship between his aunt and him is not too distant, so I think it wouldn't raise any red flags if she decides to be the primary sponsor. The idea of your wife and other son traveling with him is not bad, given the fact that he's still a minor and the distance between the two states is much. Yes, I think it would improve your chances of securing a study permit if you state the temporary nature of your wife and other son's visit. Note: it's always better for the child to apply first, if he gets the visa, then the mum can apply. I'm not one of the gurus in the house but this is my own little contribution. Muslimity: |

librangyps: I have some questions please, Is there a confirmation by IRCC that POF will be rechecked during the second stage? Also, When you talk about POF being intact and sufficient, do bank give the exact amount applicants have in their bank account to VOs? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Anon123: 11:42am On Aug 11, 2020 |
Godlives1: 1) Your chances of gaining admissions for a masters is slim to impossible. I will advice you dont waste your money trying to apply with limited guarantees. Your best bet is a PGD. 2) For a PGD, you dont need a GRE. Also English proficiency is waived for Nigerian internationals. 3) That information is false pls. No preference is given to anybody be it masters , PHD or PGD. All you need to to show genuineness of your intentions to travel to canada for your studies(career progression) plus if you have the financial muscle to take care of yourself. |

TimAke: They work with the POF you submitted .. They dont go beyond the last date on the 4-6months statement of account. The bank dont have the legal right to give any soul your present account balance. what they do is, IRCC ask the bank if such transaction was made at so so day or if this person had this amount in his account so so day. 2 Likes |

Hello good people, trust we are keeping safe. Quick one, some one who have completed his tuition fee (17K Pius) and have appropriately 2.3 Million Naira in his account. The Sponsor have up to 140K American Dollars and a property (house) in American (Mortgage fully paid), an American citizen (his native home Canada) and he paid half of the tuition fee. But he is not related to the applicant. A Co- Sponsor is a lecture in Nigerian federal University ( applicant elder brother) with appropriately 5 million Naira annual income from salary and his printing business (not registered). Please house is this good enough for POF. Thank you. 1 Like |

Mogullet:Give this a Trial and see if its gonna work JavaScript: The validation feature needs to use JavaScript within Adobe Reader. Solution: To turn JavaScript on, open Adobe Reader, - click “Edit”, then “Preferences”, then “JavaScript”. - Check the box beside “Enable JavaScript” and click OK. After making any changes or downloading new software, download a new version of the form and re-enter your information. Source: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=767&top=18 |

Hello everyone, this thread has been helpful so far. I have a LOA since March, my tuition fee is around 3.5m and my sponsor‘s (my father) account balance is around 5m currently which is likely to increase anytime. My question is; Can I go ahead and apply with that because that’s the only thing delaying my application? Ps: My course start date has been moved to November |

Dame24: You need $10,000cad extra for living expences. If you can get a co-sponsor.. It will be better and faster |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by librangyps(f): 1:17pm On Aug 11, 2020 |
TimAke: There is nothing from IRCC that says that POF will. E rechecked but they said you should ensure that you stay eligible (saw that somewhere) There's usually a line that shows your current balance when bank respond to inquiry from embassy |

Good morning All, please i would like to ask if the Canadian Embassy do screen for Tuberculosis for medicals and if yes, what type of tuberculosis. I got admit into a school in USA and was asked to do tuberculosis. I did the normal TB test and was tested Negative. The school insisted i do the Quantiferon TB Test or TB spot so just curious if anyone knows the details of the medical test the Canadian Embassy does and what type of test. |

Godlives1: With 2;2 your best chance for admission is to write GRE and get a good score otherwise you are not likely to get admitted. If you don't want to take the GRE exam you should consider PGD/C. You visa chances rest on how well you package your application especially the SOP and POF. |

Good day guys, Please I need your advice. I had submitted my student Visa Application on CIC since May for a July start date, however I received an updated LOA last week for October start date which I uploaded via a web form. Consequently I got a reply yesterday that the information I provided differs from the one they have on file and also I don't understand what they mean that I should include All documents submitted with my previous request. I have attached a screenshot of the email I got. Please kindly advise me

milkytins: I shook my head when some people on this thread advise you to register with AIP. Do these people even know how the system in Canada works? Your international student advisor, someone that will likely process your refund, advise you not to register without study permit and they are saying you should do otherwise. Maybe you don’t know, most international student advisor are also registered, trained, and certified immigration consultant. They know that visa officers have power to decide applicants fate, they can be very unpredictable, and there is little or nothing you can do about it. If your school says they will not refund after registration of classes, you are own your own if you pay your tuition and register. They will gladly read out the rules to you if you later ask for it. You won’t be the first to loose your money to them. Also, you should ask your advisor because study permit is usually required for disbursement of scholarship. Admission or AIP does not guarantee scholarship. If you don’t get your study permit, you loose your money, your scholarship, and your seat. I hope you have the emotional and financial strength for this risk if you decide to register with AIP. Also, in exceptional circumstances when you cant perform your role, like in a RA/TA scholarship, you are likely to loose the scholarship. I don’t know your program and tuition cost, but the fact that you needed to make tuition deposit despite having scholarship and entrance award is also a yellow flag for me. Perhaps the scholarship rules are changing because they can’t guarantee people’s performance with online classes and not in Canada. Oyinbo Dey serious that business na business. They will let you go, AKA fire you, if you can’t perform your duties to their satisfaction. I also read some people are saying your profile is very strong. I would like to point out to you that you have a reg flag that VOs have used to reject people in the past. You have a PhD and going to Msc. This is big one for purpose of visit. The better alternative would be a postdoctoral fellowship. It is not my money or my mental health. I am only a concerned fellow. Whatever decision you make, please let us know the outcome. It will help other applicants to make an informed decision. I drop my pen on this registration matter and wish everyone the best. It is my joy that it works out for everyone. Personally, I am observing for my advisees coming winter and fall 2021. So I’m learning from you all. Have a blissful day. 9 Likes |

I got this when i filled in a webform to make an enquiry. You probably didn't fill in your full name as it is on file (on your passport) when you submitted the web form. I left out my middle name when i filled the webform. Turns out if there is any discrepancy from the name they have on file for you (if the enquirer is the applicant), they don't deal with your enquiry. So i just went back filled another form with my name as it on my passport and they responded back within two days. usmee: |
