She doesn't do those things with Laycon and he still wants to force the issue.

Imaging him claiming she liked him first but he didn't realise until Kidd came into the picture. It simply means he himself knew he had no chance with the babe and only realised in his mind that she might like him when she was consistently friendly with him. But she was mentally attracted not physically attracted to him.
