Obalatule:This is why we need an historical revolution in Igboland based on facts and archeological findings. The limited history of Dike, Onwuejogwu, Isichei etc who submerged Igbo history with shallow hearsay should be thrown to the dustbin. 1 Like |

OfoIgbo:I'm not doubting Nri spiritual/cultural headship of the Benin’s, because it's obvious that in time past, the Oba’s of Benin paid homage to Eze Nri. The Portuguese account is a pointer to that fact. What I'm looking at is Igodomingodo and the outlying Igbo connection in the Ife/Ondo axis. I want to believe the Igodomingodo were independent on their own, same as the people of Agbor, Igbanke etc. However, my focus is that we had Igbo groups in that axis, spreading down to Ife before the coming of Oduduwa and upwards to Kaduna/Kogi before the arrival of the Igala, Jukun etc. 1 Like |

Sammy07:But you clearly do not have any meaningful thing to say, I have very learned yoruba people that have accepted they can't find any meaning for Oduduwa in yoruba language 1 Like |

Shiver99: You are just bangind table top to create noise, you have no such antiquity that you claim on. Your history has failed to stand on its own without any attachment to Yoruba arts. In fact look at the topic of your thread. It shows your desperation to manipulate what your so called history for acceptabce in public. Arts and history should speak for itself and catch attention, not forced for acceptance. If Yoruba contents in your history is removed your concocted fables of ancient history will collapse. 2 Likes |

Obalatule:The Benin element in Igala history arose as a result of Prince Aji Attah a scion of Queen Idia who became King of the Igala during Benin victory over Igalaland. It was even said that the town Idah is a corrupted form of Queen Idia. Benin’s victory over the Igala was supported by the firearm supplies from the Portuguese and this period began the rise of the Benin empire, as they made use of that superiority to subdue their neighbours. However, the Benin Attah’s dynasty was supplanted by the Jukuns sailors/warriors who conquered Idah from the river Benue, after more than a century or so. 1 Like |

UdechiHD: OK, let me go slightly further. Any Igbo man reading this should be seated, lest you break your computer screen or kick your shoes at your TV screen. There is a place called IPONRI, in Lagos. For those who understand modern Yoruba writings IPO in Yoruba will be pronounced as IKPO in Igbo. Igbos at times go by the title ONO NA IKPO AKU, which means SEATED ON A HEAP OF WEALTH. Basically IKPO means HEAP in English. Now getting back to my tale, in IPONRI, there is a shrine there till today, which is maintained, exactly the same way the Umu Nris maintain shrines. What this means, is that Nris (Igbos) made it to Lagos in ancient times. With this in mind, IPONRI now assumes a different meaning as it would have meant NRI JOINT or NRI SETTLEMENT or NRI HEAP. It was an Oba in Agukwu that informed me of this in Dec 2019, and I had in mind to visit the place and look for this shrine, unfortunately Coronavirus had other plans for the nation What I am trying to say is that Igbos made it way past Ife. Igbos are extremely ancient people 1 Like |

Obalatule:I laugh at the young man. He's been fed with the Oduduwa myth as the origin of his ethnic group. A myth push up to relevance by Awolowo to unite the factional Yoruba clans. The fraudulent history that new Yoruba historian are beginning to question. He's yet to understand that Yoruba history existed centuries even before the arrival of Oduduwa from the east. 2 Likes |

OfoIgbo:This your new twist Lol! I'll give this one a benefit of the doubt. What needs done in this country is massive archeological findings. All the ones done in time past we're carried out by the British. From Nok, to Igboukwu, Benin and Ife. Is it not a shame to this country that after those years, no historian has taken it upon themselves to seek foreign grants to do more. |

UdechiHD: I think Onwuejuogwu knew about the Igodomigodo/Nri(Igbo) relationship, if I am not mistaking, but he didn't expand heavily on that, as would have been the case, if other civilizations had the evidence. Unfortunately, Onwuejeogwu, concentrated mainly in Agukwu, and lost out much of the other evidence he could have gotten from other Nri territories. Agukwu people were unaware of the Portuguese visit of Benin in the 1400s and a host of other details that he could have gotten, if he had expanded his research a little more, but Agukwu people still know of the general Nri overlordship of ancient Igodomigodo, Benin, Aguleri and much of Igbo territories |
