I don't think so, due to the fact the other tribes in the local area and even central african as well have this variations among their population. In other words this phemomena is not a isolated case, and since igbo people live not so far from these people, hence it is natural to their area. Here is what i found over the net written by European Anthropologist. Igbos live in south eastern nigeria, eventhough not bantus, they are near the bantu cluster of peoples. Why are you focusing so much on this topic of Igbos being mixed? The VAST majority of Igbos do not claim jews. I wonder why no one is harping on Yorubas for their claims of Middle-Eastern Origins (Mecca) Or Hausas speaking an Afro-Asiatic Language.

If you basing your observation on facial features, whether someone is mix or not, i hope you realize many Africans with darkskinn have so called European facial characteristics as well. Here are a couple of examples.

Notice both of these men are indeed African, the first man is yoruba and the second man is a rwandan tutsi, for the uneducated individuals some may attribute their features to mixing, but the reality it is only natural variation within the population, and you can find these phenomena throughout Africa. From dark skin to fair skin, to wide features, to straight features, it is only the natural variation of the population. Thats it, end of discussion!

Those sources have no evidence to back them up at all. All that european settlers in Igbo land is heresay my dear.

1. There is a massive amount of  DNA data base for Igbo people straight from nigeria with institutions that do DNA ancestry matches for AA European DNA accounts for less than .2 % of the entire population. An insignificant %

2. THe Igala/ sudanese ancestry is again not backed up by DNA evidence so that rules that heresay out.

3. Light skinned Africans have been present all through the history of movement of peoples within the continent pre European incursions and are adaptations/mutations already prevalent in people of African descent as a consequence of melanin deficiencies which cause the hair, the eyes and the skin color to loose pigmentation( this is not albinism by the way which is an extrem form of this mutation). This has been attributed to possible diet patterns or breeding patterns.

I dare anyone to show evidence of any collection of Igbo DNA (especially those who llight skinned )to trace any euorpean or Sudanese ancestry for that matter.

I'm not a huge member of this forum and I know what you are saying is one-sided thinking. I've been a member for highest 3 weeks, going through both new and old threads and yet I’ve lost count the amount of Igbo bashing coming from Yoruba’s in both old and new threads.  There seem to be more of it than vice-versa dating back to the beginning of this forum.  All you have to do is just type it in the search button or click any old thread even thread praising Igbo women. Based on observation, The Igbo bashing Yoruba seem to have resulted as retaliation to Yoruba bashing Igbo.
