If you go back a few pages on this thread you will see where people who have passed through this process explain that often, by the time you get through with the first program which gives you one year you now have to apply for another 1 year program so as to get 2 years. Jobs have never been easy to come by in Canada for immigrants so it’s better to approach things prepared for the worst case scenario.
I think it is overly optimistic for someone to believe that they will find a job in the proper NOC and get PR within the space of 1 year. Many of us here have an overly rosy view of what life is like outside Nigeria.
Especially now with a global recession looming, it’s going to be even tougher so I think it’s better one just prepares for that.

You are right. 1 year PGWP is a tricky one. Based on my experience, I will prefer 2-3 years except studying in Canada gives me enough point for the Canadian Experience Class of Express Entry. Most provincial nominations takes time. It can relatively hard for most people to pass IELTS. I have also seen people, particularly in the oil and gas industry that have lost their professional jobs over three times in less than three years. I also know graduates that are working and praying to get a professional job for over a year. If I will not lie to you, except you are going for IT, most industry are struggling and some have collapsed. However, this is probably a good time to come and study because most sector should recover in about 2 years. It is those that graduated to this COVID recession that must work and pray harder.

Another thing we should know is that some jobs that qualify for immigration are more available than others. International graduates are more likely to get something like a daycare or admin assistant job than secondary school teacher or manager jobs. There are many slightly professional jobs that qualify for immigration. If what you want is that after graduation, you may want to be open to opportunities that may and may not reflect your education level but gives you an opportunity to immigrate. However, don’t settle with it finally if it was not your original dream. Collect your Permanent Resident and go for your dream.

All the best.

God is great! I am super excited to hear your scholarship was reinstated by USASK after your visa refusal. As for me, I am doing great and had to switch my immigration path to AIPP (Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program) as I was fortunate to receive a job offer from a Canadian employer. I have completed the entire phase of the program including receiving my Provincial Endorsement/Nomination Certificate from the Newfoundland Government and signing written contracts with my employer. The current COVID-19 global pandemic has dispruted so many plans/activities including pending applications with IRCC. Therefore, I'm earnestly hoping and waiting to receive my Permanent Resident approval soonest. While waiting for the process to be completed, I do come around here during my leisure period to contribute my quota and continue making a remarkable impact in the lives of others considering that I have first hand experience about the process.

Thanks once again for checking up on this thread, we have indeed shared tremendous knowledge and insightful experiences on this platform overtime. I hope to see you return here to continue doing what you know how to do best.

Stay safe (Attorney General).

As always, it will end in praise.

Congrats Frank on the new job.
I’ve been a silent reader and observer and noticed how efficient you are. Keep it up.
I was recently accepted into University of Prince Edward Island for a masters program. I’m still waiting for 2 other schools before I make my decision tho. However, I decided to start preparing my documents early. I am in a bit of a dilemma as regards proof of funds. My dad is a regional overseer in my church and it is usual practice that the church pays the fees of the children of the Pastors. I’m really at a loss on the best way for the financial sponsorship document to be prepared by the church.
Any ideas? Thank you.

Pls I am married with kids, and got admission into red river college. My Uncle wants to sponsor me with Tuition while I handle my living expenses.

Can he sponsor me?

Yes he can as long as you show relationship between you and him and also he needs to state in his letter of sponsorship why he is sponsoring you.

Hello house.

I got my AIP on Thursday last week (6/8/2020)
and I got medical request yesterday (12/8/2020).. is this a good sign? Should I be excited yet?

Please note that I’m still yet to do my biometric though they requested for that since May (and they still haven’t opened).

Guys good evening.
This payment thing is frustrating. For the past 3days + I have been trying to pay for my SP application fee but they keep declining my Card and other Cards I have tried.
What can I do?
Is there an alternative

what bank do you use?

I think the problem is that most banks have reduced their usd spending limit to just 100usd per month,so the. 235CAD which is about 170USD is way above the new limit,I guess you should try a dollar card or maybe someone not in Nigeria could help you pay with their debit or credit cards.

Hi guys, so I did my medical exam, uploaded it using the e-medical slip. Then I was granted a first stage approval last week. Today I got a medical request, regardless of the fact that I have already uploaded it. Please has anyone on this thread faced a similar challenge, and what did you eventually do about it?

House, apologies if my question sounds cranky

Is there room for student loan in Canada for international students to support or pay second-year tuition in a 2yrs program?

I’ve not heard of any. Banks and other organization are wary to give international student loans because it could increase their bad debt. The Canadian economy is too small to take on such big risks.

Your spouse can join as soon the application is approved. Approval time varies. I have seen less than a year and more than a year. You should also know that spousal open work permit can be rejected too. So ensure you have good home ties.

If approved, your suppose will be given an unrestricted temporary work permit. With that, your spouse can work while you study. Be careful with your expectation, most work permit holders are only able to get “hustle jobs”. All the best.
