I believe Mikel arteta was sitting on the fence before covid-19 break, but the pay cut saga forced him to take sides with the board because he felt that the pay cut was an act to show unity and love between the players, and also he must have felt disappointed that a senior player like ozil did not believe in that idea to make the team United.
