Why Choose Cyprus For Your Higher Studies?

Since the last couple of years, the Republic of Cyprus has become a central hub for international students. Have you ever wondered why 2 out of 5 of your friends are always talking about going to Cyprus for their higher education studies?

Studies Gap Acceptance

No matter what anyone says, studies gap acceptance is the primary reason for international students to come to Cyprus.

I had a gap of 6 years. No other European countries would provide me with a student visa. Lucky me, Cyprus didn’t care about my study gap and hence, accepted me as a student.

Most of the Universities and colleges in Cyprus accept a study gap of up to 10 years and even more. And I have also heard that some of the colleges provide you with a visa until you are 39 years old.

The high visa success rate

Well, we already talked about the study gap acceptance by Cyprus. The study gap creates a huge problem when you try to apply abroad for your higher studies. It becomes a major obstacle in your path of success. But when the study gap is accepted, there is less chance of failure and which eventually means a high visa success rate.

As compared to other countries, Cyprus doesn’t require a lot of formalities and documentation. Obviously, there are some, but they are the significant ones. Fewer papers to worry means a high visa success rate.

Basic entry requirements

Whenever you apply to some colleges or Universities in Cyprus, you have to fulfill some of their requirements to get selected as an international student. It becomes more comfortable when the conditions are basic and easily achievable.

Here are some standard requirements to meet.

High School Graduation Documents attested by the Ministry of Education.
*If you are applying for a Bachelors’s degree.

Bachelor’s degree attested certificates by the Ministry of Education.
*If you are applying for masters and so on.

IELTS certificate (International English Language Testing System)
Each band shouldn’t be less than 5.5

*IELTS certificate is not compulsory for most of the countries. Ask your college if they need it.

College/University fee of 1 year
*You have to pay your tuition fee of 1 year in advance.
My case was different because I got 70% scholarship, however, I just paid 500euro

Clean medical reports
Police clearance certificate / Non-criminal report
Bank statement
Above mentioned requirements might vary from country to country and colleges to colleges. You should talk to the college administration and Cyprus Embassy / Cyprus Consulate in your country just to be 100% sure.

Easy process to apply

The basic requirements might look like a lot of work to you, but trust me, it’s not. If you apply to any first world countries for an international student visa, you would have to deal with a lot of documentation. It’s time-consuming and tiresome.

Documents for Cyprus are easier to make. You can prepare them in a less amount of time, and you won’t get bored while doing it.
Re: General Information About South Cyprus Study Visa by Godtemi: 11:12am On Aug 14, 2020
2 years back, I had applied to Germany and Malta for my higher studies. It had taken me months to prepare all my documents visa interview appointment. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a visa. But for Cyprus, it barely took me a week to get all of my documents ready.

A few documents to collect, attestation from here and there, stamps and seals, and your documents are good to go in no time.

If you don’t want to waste a lot of your time and money to process for your documents, then you should definitely apply Cyprus for your higher studies.

How Much Can An International Student Earn In Cyprus?

500-1200 euro

How many hours can an international student work in Cyprus?
Legally, an international student can only work 20 hours a week and that also after six months of arriving in Cyprus.

Let me explain it to you.
When you come to Cyprus on a student visa, the first thing you have to do is visit your college. The college will set you an appointment date with the Migration & Labour office. When the Migration Office processes your documents, then only you will be considered as a legal student in Cyprus

Since the day you are registered in the Migration office, your six months will be counted.

After 6 months, you will get a work letter from your college, and with that work letter, you can look for a job.

Update:
The law has changed now. You don’t need to wait for six months to work. You can work with your pink card now. It might take up to 3 months for your pink card to arrive. When you have your pink card, you can ask your college to give you a work letter.

Can international students work full time in Cyprus?
No, they cannot. You need to understand that you are a full-time student in Cyprus, not a full-time worker. You can work full time only when you come here on a working visa.

As I previously said, you cannot work for more than 20 hours a week. During holiday seasons, you can work up to 36 – 40 hours a week. That’s it. Legally, as a student, you can’t work full time.

How much is per hour wage for international students in Cyprus?
Usually, the per hour wage for international students in Cyprus is 5 Euro, but it depends. If you are a European, you might earn more than that.

Mostly for Asians and Africans, 5 Euro is the average salary.

What are the fields an International student could work in Cyprus?
According to the Ministry of Labor, the employment of international students is allowed in the following sectors:

Trade-Repairs
Health and Social Care
Household Activities
Manufacturing
Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fishery
Food Industry
Restaurants, Recreational Centres

What are the documents required to look for a job in Cyprus?
The primary documents
necessary for a part-time job in Cyprus for International students are as below.

Passport
A valid Residence Permit of Cyprus (Pink Slip)
Work Letter from College. (College won’t give you a work letter until you have your pink slip.)
A time table of your studies/class. (Your college will provide you the time table.)

As an international student, would I be able to pay the tuition fee with just a part-time job?

With just a part-time job, you would be able to earn around 400-600 Euro per month. Now, with that much money, you can pay the college fee, but it depends upon how you use the money.

If you are living in an apartment where you would have to pay around 300 Euro for your room rent + electricity charge + water + WiFi charge + extra stuff, you won’t be able to save for the college fee.
But if you stay in a room with a less fare + you closely monitor your expenses, I guess you can save the money for the tuition fee.
Note:
I am talking about college and scholarship not a University. The fee structure of Universities is much higher than that of colleges.

There is no way you can pay for the University full fee just by doing a part-time job.

If there is no work, then how are students surviving?
Before giving you the answer to this question, here is something that you should know.

You have to bring 2000 Euro in Cash with you to show at the Immigration at Larnaca Airport.
You have to pre-pay the college fee for one year before coming to Cyprus.
Now, for a year, you don’t need to pay the tuition fee in college, and as you have 2000 Euro with you, you can easily survive for at least 6-7 months.

This is how most of the students are surviving.

Good with the master, you can get partial scholarship, 50% to 70% scholarship, however, full scholarship is limited.

1. You will need to apply to your school of choice
Free of charge Infact, this is the best time for you , because most European schools need students.(Free)

2. Get admission and accept your acceptance letter( free). Note: you will have to pay deposit of your tuition fees, it depends on your school.

3a. Go to alagbon to do your police report (N5k)
3b. Medical report at any general hospital (N5-6k)

3c. Then go to Abuja to authenticate your documents at Ministry of education and ministry of foreign affairs.

Documents to authenticate Neco/Waec, HND/Bsc certificate
international passport data page photocopy
statement of account which balance must be 3milion
Police report
Medical test report

Note: you have to go with original and two photocopies each

3d. Then take it to Cyprus consulate in Lagos to do the final authentication.

Finally gather all this authenticate documents in 3D and with your admission letter and payment receipt, then send via DHL to school.
The school will process your visa and send you visa via mail.

You will use this printed visa to travel and when you get to Cyprus. You will have to show immigration officer.

Hope you know that, job don't come and meet you, but you look for it anywhere in the world.
Just like there are some US and Germany citizen etc that are jobless, but we ve Nigeria citizen doing better job there.

Cyrups gives you opportunity to look for job,
Once you get the job,
Process your work permit.

I understand but I think 60 days isn't enough time to secure a job and work permit

I understand you, you will need to start planning from the day you enter to the end of your program.

Be good to people, be humble, make good connection, study hard to have good grade.
Pray and leave the rest to God.
And you will be one to choose job.

However, there is 85% that you will stay back, if you want too, it all depends on your plan.
For me, my final destination country by God's grace is Canada, but the place I will love to have another master is Germany, and with my south cyrups certificate and visa, I have upper hand than someone with only Nigeria certificate and Dubai or USA visa. Because they will have to favour someone who have European certificate and stamp first .

How long does it take to get a Cyprus student visa?
It takes somewhere from 2 to 3 months for your Cyprus student visa to get issued. The time period applies after you have submitted all your documents to the Cyprus Embassy or Cyprus Consulate.

In some cases, you can get your visa within a month too. But that is highly unlikely.

If you fail to submit all your prepared documents to the embassy before the designated date, you will have to wait for 3 to 4 months more, and you will be registered for the next intake.

Here in this article, I will guide you about things that you need to do to be ready before the last submission date.

It might take from 3 to 10 days to get the offer letter from your college.

It will take you around 10 to 30 days to prepare these documents

Academic certificates
Medical report / Certificate
Police Report
Bank Statement

Sending documents to the college
The verified documents need to be sent to college by courier services.

It might take from 3 to 7 working days for your documents to reach to your college in Cyprus.

Issuance of visa
When the required documents and tuition fee reaches Cyprus, your college then will start the processing.

They will do everything from their side and bring your documents to the Ministry of Education, Civil Registry, and Migration department and all the other required places.

All this process might take between 1 to 2 months.

When all your documents get analyzed, and if you are found eligible, they will issue you a visa.

Good ups brother I recently got to know the marked variation between south and north Cyprus. I have friends complaining about how Nigerian students are being killed in northern Cyprus. However I think and believe south Cyprus is the place to be . I have contacted Cyprus university of technology Limassol for a master's degree in piblic health however my interest came late and I was adviced to keep checking the school website for January offers . Please I need a proper guide on universities or colleges offering public health at masters level in South Cyprus and thier tuition as well as scholarship requirements. Thanks I will greatly appreciate this

Am not an agent. So I will have to guide or advice you, before you take any step ok! South cyrups is really a good stepping stone. The idea is come even if you want to enter other EU countries.
Try to make a good grade first.

First you have to tell me the course you want
Secondly know your budget, and I will help you anaylze how you can survive here..
Once the budget is ok. Then traveling here is small thing by God's grace, because I will guide you through.

I just submitted a project proposal to 3 university seeking for scholarship for International students, just pray it's work.
Because money this time is hard
Best of luck

Re: General Information About South Cyprus Study Visa by OlakunmiSMELTD: 11:15pm On Nov 18, 2020
It depends.
This should be your plan
Let me put you through and calculate it yourself.

Share apartment + utilities monthly = 200euro
Monthly feeding if you cook = 40 euro
Transport monthly = 20euro

For the school, your tuition fees will be installment, so after 3month, you can get a job to pay your accommodation and feeding etc

Flight is about 250k
Registration for resident permit etc is about 300euro.

So convert your naira to euro then do your calculations.
Good luck
