I think the korean business with the navy might be reactivation of aradu....if you look at Korean navy since the 80s they have been building ships that have the same weapon systems as aradu and sensors....

Has nothing to do with ongoing procurement.

TRUMP , CONGRESS signed the deal
incoming procurement
November 2020 3X JF 17 CONFIRMED
SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2020 MBT / TANK destroyers/ /Arty systems. : International travel ban is expected to be lifted in October 2020
CAS has confirmed 10 UAVS are pending
most likely : at least 1 mi-17 from Russia
FFK is the same individual who claimed nk was being imprisoned on a NN SHIP, other than that mistake he is a great defense analyst who should be taken very seriously and his comments are gospel.
PMB said weapons deliveries are imminent from the US, JORDAN and China but let us take and quote FFK complete with screen shot as gospel tongue grin
The only weapons Nigeria is getting from the west is two remaining AW109S AND THE A29S
The bulk of weapons Nigeria is getting for now and the foreseeable future will be from Russia, China , Czech republic , Serbia and maybe even Pakistan
I disagree with the weapons procurement from the east.
It's not possible because Nigeria's economy is heavily dependent on the us. We can't afford sanctions. I even think the mi35 has been secretly canceled. Come to think of it. Why doesn't the naf mention it.

These kids are the biggest military threat we are GOING TO FACE in the near future. Those kids that were born or abducted into their camps around 2009/2010 and started receiving the trainings and indoctrination early in life are either the commanders or close to commanders now. Those ones have also had kids who, alongside the abducted kids have also started receiving training and indoctrination (note that their training now is from those with battle experience unlike the previous generation).

The longer this conflict lasts, the larger the recruitment pool, the more rigorous the indoctrination and training and the EXTREMIST the new foot soldiers are.

I favour the very low scale insurgency to continue for another 10years.

Benefits of Insurgency war.

(a) Army division now 8 from 4 divisions.
(b) Army now 200,000 standing.
(c) Local defence production in navy, army and air force.
(d) Navy now 3 naval commands from 2. And many FoBs.
(e) Upgraded navy trainning to cover naval infantry and SBS, sub-sea trainning.
(f) Upgraded trainning curriculum in all military schools to cover counterinsurgency, urban warfare, desert warfare, counter terrorism, IED detection, etc.
(g) Real life intelligence experience for new officers and trainees in the north east for DIA, DMI, NIA.
(h) Real life experience in use of drones.

If the military benefits, then its good for naija.

No doubt there have benefits to the military BUT, we can't afford this for 10 more years.
The psychological and monetary strain of 20 years non stop conflict on the nation is not going to be funny.
In another ten years, we WILL have bigger or better equipment to fight BUT will we have the JINJA to do so? Will young men and women continue to see the as a national call or will they start to see it as a sacrificial table where they go to die for some pockets to be lined? After ten years will the generals and politicians stop seeing this fight as a means to line their pockets?
After a while, we would ‘GET USED TO IT' and things would return to status quo.... Ask Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria.

I would rather(if we must fight), we win this war by resoundingly KICKING BOKO ARSES and face another war.....

In continuation of the air offensive against terrorist elements in the North East of the country, the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, has eliminated scores of Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters and destroyed compounds housing them at Tongule in the Lake Chad area of Northern Borno. The air strikes were conducted on 12 August 2020 following credible Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports indicating terrorists’ activities in the village.
Accordingly, following confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which showed presence of a sizable number of the ISWAP elements at designated locations in the settlement, the Air Task Force dispatched a force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets to attack the location. The NAF Jets took turns in engaging the location scoring devastating hits on the designated targets leading to the destruction of the structures as well as the neutralization of several ISWAP fighters.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commends the Air Task Force for their dedication and professionalism and urges them to intensify the air offensive against the terrorists and all other criminal elements in the country.

NAF CONDUCTS CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS, PROCURES MORE LAB EQUIPMENT FOR UPGRADING OF FACILITIES

In furtherance of its efforts at equipping laboratory scientists with requisite skills necessary to improve the detection, identification, accurate diagnosis and reporting of Malaria cases, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted a 5-day capacity building workshop at the 661 NAF Hospital (661 NAFH) Ikeja, Lagos. The workshop, which commenced on 10 August 2020, had 30 medical laboratory scientists drawn from NAF units across the country in attendance.

Speaking during the inauguration of the workshop, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was represented by the Commander, 651 Base Services Group, Ikeja, Air Commodore Rasaq Olanrewaju, described medical laboratory science as a key component of any healthcare system. He noted that more than 70 per cent of the information required for proper medical diagnosis is generated by the laboratory.

Air Marshal Abubakar disclosed that the NAF had accordingly made significant investments in medical laboratory equipment as well as infrastructural upgrade and training of its laboratory scientists. He further revealed that the NAF recently approved the procurement of additional laboratory equipment and payment of accreditation fees for the re-certification of 661 NAFH Laboratory to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189 standard. Speaking further, the CAS maintained that the production of accurate and reliable laboratory results was predicated on the establishment of robust Quality Management System.

While appreciating the cooperation and support of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria towards the accreditation of NAF laboratories, the CAS tasked NAF laboratory scientists to work assiduously to ensure that more of the NAF’s laboratories attain the international accreditation status of ISO 15189. According to him, “Ultimately, this workshop should lead to higher quality laboratory services and improved patient care in our medical units”, he said.

The workshop ended today, 14 August 2020, with the award of certificates to the participants.

My brother, if deaths can be reduced drastically,,,, then the insurgency should continue on a very low scale for another 10yrs undecided

See the loads of new generation weapons the military is buying,,, and the rise in local defence production. If not for boko haram,,, the military would still be where it was 13yrs ago,,, like a 14th century army.

So much progress has been made militarily,,, because of boko haram. If insurgency ends,,, the military and MoD will relax again. That is their way.

So, let the insurgency continue low scale with no deaths,,, if possible. Attack army and flee,,, then its good.

The Senate has said it will persuade the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), to sack the military chiefs, comprising the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Naval Staff.

The upper chamber had, on July 21, asked the CDS and the service chiefs to step aside, following the killing of soldiers fighting insurgency and banditry in some parts of northern Nigeria.

The decision came after a motion moved during plenary via a point of order by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume

Ndume’s motion titled ‘Matter of urgent national importance’ was premised on the rising number of casualties among the armed forces and other security agencies due to escalating banditry and insurgency in the country. He described the situation as worrisome.

He said, “Just recently, 24 soldiers were ambushed and killed along the Gamboa-Maiduguri Road in Borno State. At least 19 were wounded, while nine were declared missing in action.

“It is also disturbing that in Katsina recently, about 20 soldiers were ambushed and killed, while several others were wounded. The number of civilian casualties is not known.

“If the trend continues, it will have serious implications on the fight against insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminality in the country.Recently, it was alleged that over 236 soldiers voluntarily resigned from the Nigerian Army.”

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, in his prayer, as an addition to Ndume’s point of order, demanded that service chiefs step aside. The Senate approved the prayer and passed a resolution on it accordingly.

The Presidency, however, reacted immediately, saying the President was not legally bound to act on the resolution of the legislature, while stressing that the President reserved the power to sack or retain the service chiefs.

In a recent interview, the Senate spokesperson, Senator Ajibola Basiru, said the red chamber would continue to persuade the President to act on its resolution.

Basiru admitted that the resolution was purely advisory but maintained that it represented the position of Nigerians who elected them into the Senate.

He said, “We, however, still want to persuade the President to consider our resolution. The Presidency has said it is aware of our resolution and has pledged to look into it.

“The Presidency said it is not legally bound to carry out (our) resolution because it is the prerogative of the President to remove service chiefs.”

Basiru did not categorically confirm if the Senate resolution was appropriately passed to the Presidency, but said, “Our resolutions are just persuasive authority coming from elective representatives of Nigerians in the National Assembly.”

He said, “It (resolution) is not a law. It is advisory and persuasive. The response of the Presidency is the correct position of law and I agree.

“Due to the principle of separation of power, we cannot compel the President to sack the service chiefs. We only responded to the feelings of Nigerians by asking the President to reorganise them (service chiefs) but he is not legally bound to do so.”

The Senate spokesman also noted that the Senate was deliberating with the executive on the decentralisation of the police and additional recruitment into the Force, adding that the decentralisation was already being worked on.

My suspicion and the best value option is the Wing Loong II UAV. 1500 km radius.

They don't need 10 they should get at least 50, our procurement is done I dribs and drabs to the point it becomes negligible.

Countries on our level procurement is done in multiples of 100's not 10's. How many Chinese MBT did we buy and what effect will that have come considering the vast area and multiple points of contention now across the entire North.

Toju200:
INTERNAL SECURITY: PRESIDENT BUHARI CHARGES NEWLY COMMISSIONED NAF DIRECT SHORT SERVICE OFFICERS TO DEFEND NATION’S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY, NATONAL INTERESTS
The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, has charged the newly commissioned Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officers of Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2020 to positively deploy the knowledge acquired during their training to defend the territorial integrity and national interests of Nigeria. The President gave this charge today, 8 August 2020, during the Passing Out Parade (POP) of 114 DSSC officer cadets held at the NAF Base, Kaduna after 6 months of rigorous and intensive military training at the NAF’s Military Training Centre (MTC). The successful completion of military training of the officer cadets, which comprised 2 medical consultants, 14 medical and veterinary doctors, 20 nurses and 78 other medical specialists, is another laudable step taken by the current NAF leadership as part of its human capacity building initiatives to meet the Nation’s security challenges.

While congratulating the newly commissioned officers for withstanding the rigours of the training, the Reviewing Officer/Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) at the colourful POP, who was represented by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Olonisakin, reminded them that the occasion was just the beginning of yet another challenging but rewarding career as young officers in the NAF. He further reminded them that the military profession requires absolute discipline, loyalty and hard work, among other virtues. He noted that these virtues were even more critical at this crucial point when the Nation is battling with the challenges of insecurity and the NAF, along with sister Services, is expected to secure the lives and properties of Nigerians to peacefully pursue their individual legitimate aspirations. “Such noble service demands exceptional courage, commitment and patriotism and Nigeria will continue to demand such qualities from you”, he added.

Speaking further, the SGOH emphasized that the Government was doing so much to confront the security challenges bedeviling the nation by taking necessary measures to safeguard lives and properties and to drastically cut off all forms of criminality. “I gladly inform you and indeed all Nigerians that the NAF is consistently supporting these Government efforts. Therefore, as you graduate, I urge you all to positively deploy the training that has been inculcated in you to defend the territorial integrity and national interest of our dear country”, he reiterated. The SGOH also urged the young officers to do their best to further enhance the NAF’s efforts towards boosting qualitative healthcare for personnel, their dependants and members of NAF’s host communities, including sustaining medical outreaches for civilians and victims of insurgency and banditry. “This pragmatic approach to promote civil military relations will go a long way in winning the hearts and minds of the communities, thus assisting in timely containment of insurgency, banditry and other security challenges”, he said.

The newly commissioned officers were further reminded of the need to subject themselves to both military and civil laws and protect the Nation’s growing democracy. While urging them to be vigilant and guard their utterances and conduct at all times, the SGOH also reminded them of the need to know the limits of their freedom of association and expression which must be matched with responsibility to maintain national security. “You must also not allow yourself to be used by some elements in the society to compromise national security or act in ways capable of denting the image of the Armed Forces. Your duty is to protect all Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic background or religious inclination. Your loyalty must therefore never be in doubt at any point in time as an officer”, he added.

The SGOH commended the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, for supporting members of the Armed Forces operating within the State. He also commended the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, for his judicious use of available resources and robust capacity building initiatives responsible for a disciplined, highly professional and timely deployable air force. He equally extolled the efforts of the Commandant MTC and his team of officers and men for the successful completion of yet another training, whilst assuring them of his continued support to sustain their training efforts.

One of the highlights of the POP was the presentation of awards to deserving passing out cadets. Among the award winners were Cadet (now Flying Officer) Mbam Ndubisi who won the President, Commander-in-Chief’s Award for coming first in order of merit, while Flying Officer Lekon Mustapha won the Honourable Minister of Defence Award for coming second in order of merit. Other award winners were Flying Officer Samaila Yusuf, who came third in order of merit, winning the CDS’ Award, and Flying Officer Ummu Muhammed, who won the CAS’ Award for coming fourth, while Flying Officer Abdulkadir Ahmad won the Commandant MTC’s Award for exhibiting exceptional leadership qualities in the course of training.

After the colourful parade, the passing out cadets were conferred with the Presidential Commission into the NAF and decorated with their new ranks of Squadron Leaders, for the consultants, and Flying Officer, for all others, by their respective family members and well-wishers. After administering the oath of allegiance on the newly commissioned officers, the SGOH presented them with their parchments of commission.

Another major highlight of today’s event was the Research and Development (R&grin) Exhibition/Display which featured some of the recent R&grin breakthroughs of the Air Force Research and Development (AFRDC). These included a locally developed Hexacopter capable of carrying weaponized payloads; locally designed test bench for hydraulic accumulator diaphragm of the L-39ZA aircraft and a locally produced voltage/frequency converter for aircraft ground support activities. Other R&grin feats displayed were the 6-tube rocket launcher developed by AFRDC for the Bell-412 helicopter; locally produced heat shield protective cone for Alpha Jet rocket pods as well as the locally designed and produced 30.1mm rocket launcher/rockets. The SGOH was also briefed on the progress of work on the development of 18-tube rocket launcher for the Alpha Jet aircraft as well as other Armament-related R&grin efforts.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, was represented at the event by the Commissioner of Internal Security, Mr Samuel Aruwan. Other dignitaries present were the Chairman Senate Committee on Air Force, Distinguished Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah; the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Air Force, Honourable Abbas Adigun; the Director Air Force, Ministry of Defence; Representatives of Chiefs of Army and Naval Staff and the Inspector General of Police as well as the Representative of the Emir of Zazzau, along with many other senior military officers and families and friends of the newly commissioned officers.

Other activities held in honour of the newly commissioned officers, as part of the week-long ceremonies, were the Regimental Dinner Night held on 4 August 2020 and the Beating of the Retreat, which took place on 5 August 2020.
