Toju200: First of all we start of from Best value and greatest impact. You need 24/7/365 situational awareness. ISTAR across the entire North. We have bandits, Jihadists and herdsmen running wild and holding whole areas to ransom. Some argue that all these groups have links and are operating in some form of unison. The cost of two overpriced A29 turboprop will get you near 75 Wing Loong II UAV's. It means that precision strikes can be carried out but near 40 hours endurance means no hiding place for Boko and it's associats. Finally, it's more cost effective and operationally greater impact. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Egypt sends 3 military transport planes to Lebanon today loaded with humanitarian aid, including large quantities of food & medical supplies, in addition to the arrival of an Egyptian medical team of 21 doctors. Egypt will send more 12 military transport planes to Lebanon within the next few days, as a part of the air-bridge opened between Cairo & Beirut to transfer humanitarian aid to help the Lebanese people overcome the ramifications of the massive Beirut blast . 1 Share

Of NDA Academy by Islie: 12:54pm How Defence Minister Appointed Unqualified Kano Professor As Provost Of Nigerian Defence Academy They said the trend, which placed emphasis on favoritism/nepotism over competence, was a pathway to future crisis in the country. The appointment of a substantive Provost for Nigerian Defence Academy is presently causing ripples as some concerned stakeholders have accused the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (Rtd), of appointing Prof Isa Garba despite not participating in the processes for such appointment. The aggrieved persons subsequently demanded the urgent intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari to avert crisis in the institution. They said the trend, which placed emphasis on favoritism/nepotism over competence, was a pathway to future crisis in the country. It was gathered that five professors with requisite academic qualification from the academy were invited to submit their curriculum vitae, their case study, mission and vision for consideration to be appointed as Provost of the institution. Those invited include, Prof David Oluwatoba Alabi of Political Science Department, Prof Sunday Olawole Okeniyi of Chemistry Department, Prof Sydney Chinedu Osuala of Maths and Computer Department, Prof Jonathan Maduka Nwaedozie of Chemistry Department and Prof Adam Okene Ahmed of History and War Studies, who all staff of the academy. All the invited professors commenced the processes which included screening and physical interviews with one Prof Ahmed topping in all of the processes for consideration. His appointment was later confirmed by the Governing Council of the Academy under the Chairmanship of the minister, Magashi, in acting capacity, awaiting his official letter as substantive Academy Provost. Then to the surprise of all, Prof Garba from Bayero University, Kano, who was not part of the processes from the beginning emerged from no way and the same minister through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence confirmed him as substantive Academy Provost of the institution without participating in the appointment process. “It is a case of nepotism, the Honourable Minister of Defence is from Kano State, the NDA Commandant is also from Kano State and wanted someone from the state to be the Academy Provost for reasons best known to him and hence why Prof Garba who is also from Kano State was brought in after the processes have been completed. “When Prof Garba was interviewed, he was found unappointable on a number of counts, first that he has not attained the number of years as an academic professor which should not be less than 10 years as a professor to be so appointed as Academy Provost, and secondly that he lacks the administration capacity and knowledge, since he has never been a head of department, neither has he been a dean or academic director but only served as a sub dean in the university and same report was sent to the ministry,” a source said. The military has asked Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state, to be mindful of his remarks against the troops fighting insurgency. Last month, the governor accused soldiers of being behind an attack on his convoy in Baga, a town in Borno. The attack was believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents but Zulum attributed it to a sabotage from the army. He later said he would mobilise hunters to do the job if the troops were unable to secure Baga. But after the military’s investigation into the attack, Felix Omoigui, a major-general and deputy theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, said the governor’s claims were untrue. “The governor of Borno state believed these allegations levelled against troops of the 19 Brigade in Baga given his recent utterances,” he said. “Remarks of highly placed persons are capable of demoralising the troops which would negatively impact on operations and the confidence of the locals in the military. “Allegations of such nature could be avoided if the military authority was contacted on issues concerning troops activities before going public. “The realisations that the allegation emanated from security agencies could trigger reactions and animosity among troops and attendant negative consequences.” Omogui also said the allegations that troops were engaged in farming in the area were false, adding that the prohibition of troops from engaging in farming and fishing activities in area of responsibility is contained in the standing operating procedures. “The allegations were conjured by some overzealous security agencies who for personal glory and without recourse for the tenets of inter-agency cooperation decided to propagate falsehood,” he said. He added that the military’s investigative team found that the entire area of Baga was too heavily mined with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to encourage any farming activity, and that 55 mines have so far been detonated since the town was reclaimed. https://www.thecable.ng/military-to-zulum-stop-demoralising-soldiers-with-your-comments |

youghs: Very simple, we know the areas of contention and the supply channels. So let me induce you to think expansively and with depth. What's the area of extensive vision for the Wing Loong II UAV at high altitude of say 30,000ft, first question❓ Second question is what is the optimimum cruising speed of the Wing Loong II, second question ❓ ❓ So effectively what then is the effective coverage per square kilometres on the ground every hour or every thirty minutes if you like. Then you apply that figure to the areas of interest and contention. And then you can understand you do not need to have coverage over 700,000sq km of the Nigeria. Now that you may have got some understanding rephrase your question from standpoint of knowledge and understanding please. 2 Likes |

Hennynitan: Exceedingly fab the quest for excellence does not have to be compromised because you are in Nigeria. They are competing on a global scale to do that you need international certification for quality. And they have a quality product. The Nigerian government should be encouraging them to increase capacity by giving them a contract for a 1000 vehicles. This vehicle should be the standard transport for the NA. Proforce should be creating their own RWS I think they have the capacity. I wonder why ❓ 7 Likes |
