Not everyone that speak against Lagos.
Why do anyone speak against Lagos in the first place ? What did Lagos do to your life ?

Well, that aside many people understand Igbos like you who claim others hate radiate even more chronic hate n irredeemable bigotry inherited from your bigoted parent so no one is surprised by the level of foolishness you have to exhibit anymore.

You're nothing less than a miserable human being.

Your hatred and stupidity which is a by-product of your parents footprints will be written on the sands of time!

Ariaria ABA and Onitsha markets are huge markets.

It seems you have not traveled to those markets before.

The markets are so big and busy that Lagos markets ( proudly dominated by easterners) are very small when compared.

Thank you

They are huge market in that region, the SE's share of Nigeria's economy is only 7%, but not in the SW, the region that controls half of Nigeria's economy, 48%.

The SW is still Nigeria's industrial hub, meaning it consumes nearly all the major industrial goods and services from machinery to raw materials and finished products.

Look at the table below

SE is all the way at the bottom.

I'm Yoruba, I started the thread because I love the fact that this is Nigeria moving positively forward and doing great things, I'm not from that region, but I'm happy that Onne port that was left for dead for decades is now fully active and functional.

I also don't see how this affects ports in the SE, they serve different markets and I don't see importers shipping to Onne and then turn around to reroute their goods from Onne to Lagos, that's grossly counter productive, but I see great benefits in shipping to Onne for onward transfer to the brother eastern and Northern region and even serving dry ports from SS to SE and the North.

That's the way we should think, I've been in Enugu for more than 5days now against my wish all because I have to wait for some parts to be sent to me from Lagos. If ports at the SS are all functioning, it won't be too terible like this.

Nice one.

This will lift a heavy burden from Lagos and the people that always chant that Lagos is what it is only because of the seaport can actually create a bigger Lagos in their region with this feat.

Nice one APC, Buhari, Amaechi, and Hadiza.

We'll get there, one thing at a time, we are slowly correcting decades of neglect and decay so we all have to be patient, Onne is getting back to form and the upcoming coastal railway is still there to make transportation of goods and services from Lagos to the SS and the SE a lot easier.

One thing is that Yorubas will never feel bad about this. not Yorubas that I know, they are not people who get sad when they see other regions making waves, they believe in one Nigeria more than any other tribe.

Some people like you just like to create divides that is not there. Personally I'm too happy about this. I'm a field engineer who resides in Lagos but gets contracts across every state in Nigeria. I'm currently in Enugu fixing machines for a hotel, my experience here is not that palatable. I could remember buying a spanner I will buy at #100 in Lagos at #350/#400 here in Enugu, why? They complain they clear and transport there goods from Lagos, making me spending extra on everything I buy here. This is npt my first experience, it is always like this when I move far away from Lagos axis. Not mentioning how I suffer just to get a simple machine parts that you will even get by the road side in Lagos.

This is a welcome development that people like me will find so appealing. But for those tribal bigots, they won't see beyond economic impacts this will have in every part of the country.

Talking about Lagos coming down, u dey whyne me ni? As somebody has said, Lagos keeps going stronger even when the country's capital was moved to Abuja. You want to tell me Lagos depends only on seaports? Either you like it or not, Lagos is the biggest economic state in Nigeria and its position won't fall behind in Africa. Let me just burst your bubble, I'm very sure you won't know about Lekki deep seaport under construction, Dangote refinery that will also produce petrochemical and fertilizer. Many massive projects still under construction in that state o boy. Don't let me talk about headquarters of many organisations being majorly situated in Lagos. And another truth is that any average Nigerian who has huge money and want to invest hugely will think Lagos first, hausas will hardly go to SS/SE but Lagos to spend their money for investment. Igbos too will find it unreasonable to go to North to invest huge but find Lagos to be the right avenue. Just too many things to mention. Tell me how having another seaport at other regions will affect this state called Lagos.

Let's stop this tribal friction we tend to create, let's speak for the unity of one Nigeria.

Your problem is you can read but can't assimilate.

Please tell me where in my statement did I say Lagos State will come down?

You call yourself a field engineer yet you can't comprehend simple statement.

Talking about friction, you need to speak to some of your Yoruba brothers on NAIRALAND because they are the starter and finisher of hate, envy, bitterness and tribal bigotry.

Nairaland full of ignorant minds

I still remember when those from west were saying largest container vessels can't berth in Onne Port except Lagos ports, Maerskline Stardelhorn is biggest Container vessel to ever call at any Nigerian port, those making those ridiculous claims should go and bury the heads in shame

The deceit in this country is on another level. They said Rivers ports have shallow draft and is not suitable for big ships. I almost bought the lie. Just imagine.

If Nigeria is truly restructured, Lagos can never be greater than Rivers. Because they have nothing on Rivers. Nothing at all.

Oh boy....., this is going to affect Eko Atlantic. All the projections & calculations figured into the project will have to be recalculated. ( Remember, its private sector investment with the expected rate of return on investment base on time value of money. Decongestion of Lagos port can translate into overall lost of revenue for the state)

A redirection of Igbo's economic dynamism in Lagos + the kicking off, of Africa continental free trade area by the first of January 2021 is economically not a good news for the SW period.

"Sai Baba".
just to explain one scenario to them. That vessel carries up to 7000 boxes (containers in maritime parlance) and it costs a minimum of 700k to move a container from Apapa to anywhere just within Lagos. Do the maths. That is minus 4.9 billion from Lagos economy.
Hand over the mic to burdbillion and MC Ólèomo. I want to hear what they have to say because

At least this goes to show that the Eastern ports are fit for importation. The whole Nigeria cannot be causing chaos in Apapa.

The NPA should encourage importers to use other ports in Rivers, Calabar and Warri.

I must commend President Buhari at least, he's somehow proving not to be a sentimental biase in spreading even development. Onne Free Trade Zone has been well managed by Intel Logistics. They've come long way from humble beginnings in 2005

You are still thinking low, we need rivers to develop so stress can be taking off Lagos a bit. Because there is oil in rivers does not mean it should be greater than Lagos, is Texas more economically viable than State of Newyork and California? and has beijiin china changed the destiny of Hongkong. They are prospering all together.

Talking about the finisher of hate...do you want me to show you my own statistics I make on NL. The most common words on this forum (comment section) are "igbo amaka", "afonjas" and "brown roof", what does this imply? Whenever there is a thread about bad side of igbos, it takes long before you see Yorubas commenting. But any bad stories about Yoruba will quickly attract hate comments. I do data science and ML (if you know what these mean) and I have these raw facts with me.

Even within the so-called igbo east, Anambra is not so liked by many other states within the region, that shows the level of hatred Igbo group sometimes display. I have evidences if you want them. I love igbo people myself, but if any idiotic prat thinks he can get to my tribe by making derogatory comments, that's where I raise eyebrow.
