Who caused the dependence? Watch and see how there will be increase in the spate of kidnappings and other vices in and around the port. Insecurity, multiple taxation and other unfriendly business regulations in the region have been the major reasons for the abandonmentof these ports.

Just look at your miserable comment. So Kidnappings will increase in Rivers because of berthing of ships in Onne port. This is how you Yorubas have consistently blackmailed the Niger Deltans with various false publications. I won't be surprised if Yorubas are the ones sponsoring Kidnappings, and others forms of insecurity in Rivers.

You are very local and uninformed

The picture showed you that and you in your simp mind assumed the port doesn't have that? onne port is one of the most advanced in Africa if you don't know. It was managed by a private company Intel's till recently .

You saw that the vessel that vertex there is the largest ever in Nigeria meaning larger than any vessel ever berthed in Apapa port! Yet you still went ahead to ask a stupid question?

Go back to secondary school and graduate

And you think you have written a post because you are used to your mediocrity.

They are huge market in that region, the SE's share of Nigeria's economy is only 7%, but not in the SW, the region that controls half of Nigeria's economy, 48%.

The SW is still Nigeria's industrial hub, meaning it consumes nearly all the major industrial goods and services from machinery to raw materials and finished products.

Look at the table below

SE is all the way at the bottom.

So contributions to IGR is now same with GDP

Do you still want to add lies to your problem, go and read your first comment for a refresher, you shock me bro.

Talking about the finisher of hate...do you want me to show you my own statistics I make on NL. The most common words on this forum (comment section) are "igbo amaka", "afonjas" and "brown roof", what does this imply? Whenever there is a thread about bad side of igbos, it takes long before you see Yorubas commenting. But any bad stories about Yoruba will quickly attract hate comments. I do data science and ML (if you know what these mean) and I have these raw facts with me.

Even within the so-called igbo east, Anambra is not so liked by many other states within the region, that shows the level of hatred Igbo group sometimes display. I have evidences if you want them. I love igbo people myself, but if any idiotic prat thinks he can get to my tribe by making derogatory comments, that's where I raise eyebrow.

And in your mind you think Yorubas love themselves?

Come to Surulere and see where Yorubas are killing themselves with JUJU over a piece of land. What about mentally deraigned people? The highest rate will be found in the West here. why? Because that's the fastest method for land grabbing in Yoruba region.

For your info! We know all of you with fake and multiple monikers in order to cast aspersions at Igbos. If you think Igbos will keep quiet and allow you guys to make derogatory remarks against them then you guys are joking. Igbos don't back down, we'll give it to you guys bumper to bumper.

Don't go by what you see in the pictures, the not only have more than enough cranes, they even have the largest in Africa.

Dangote has the largest crane in Africa, Ove 1200 tons, followed by South Africa. Do your research, please. Onne has one of the largest but certainly not the largest.

How will it impact Lagos economy when there's another port coming up in lagos touted to be the largest in west Africa.

How will it impact Lagos economy when the dangote refinery will soon come on stream?

How?

He said though he is benefitting from Buhari's regime but he hate him. And I was like so people can be this cruel, you are benefitting from somebody yet you hate him for no reason? So whoever speaks or says anything against Lagos State automatically becomes Igbo, right?

This your comment is another example of warped reasoning by Afonja's and they wonder why they are called tribal bigots.

Let me take you on the road of logical reasoning since you lack one......

1. There are 3 major tribes in Nigeria
Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa

2. Igbo bigots call yorubas Afonja on Nairaland

3. Hausas don't refer to yorubas as Afonja on Nairaland

4. Yorubas do not refer to themselves as Afonja on Nairaland.

Thus if you truly understand logic then you should know that you are igbo .... Infact IPOB sef

One thing is that Yorubas will never feel bad about this. not Yorubas that I know, they are not people who get sad when they see other regions making waves, they believe in one Nigeria more than any other tribe.

Some people like you just like to create divides that is not there. Personally I'm too happy about this. I'm a field engineer who resides in Lagos but gets contracts across every state in Nigeria. I'm currently in Enugu fixing machines for a hotel, my experience here is not that palatable. I could remember buying a spanner I will buy at #100 in Lagos at #350/#400 here in Enugu, why? They complain they clear and transport there goods from Lagos, making me spending extra on everything I buy here. This is npt my first experience, it is always like this when I move far away from Lagos axis. Not mentioning how I suffer just to get a simple machine parts that you will even get by the road side in Lagos.

This is a welcome development that people like me will find so appealing. But for those tribal bigots, they won't see beyond economic impacts this will have in every part of the country.

Talking about Lagos coming down, u dey whyne me ni? As somebody has said, Lagos keeps going stronger even when the country's capital was moved to Abuja. You want to tell me Lagos depends only on seaports? Either you like it or not, Lagos is the biggest economic state in Nigeria and its position won't fall behind in Africa. Let me just burst your bubble, I'm very sure you won't know about Lekki deep seaport under construction, Dangote refinery that will also produce petrochemical and fertilizer. Many massive projects still under construction in that state o boy. Don't let me talk about headquarters of many organisations being majorly situated in Lagos. And another truth is that any average Nigerian who has huge money and want to invest hugely will think Lagos first, hausas will hardly go to SS/SE but Lagos to spend their money for investment. Igbos too will find it unreasonable to go to North to invest huge but find Lagos to be the right avenue. Just too many things to mention. Tell me how having another seaport at other regions will affect this state called Lagos.

Let's stop this tribal friction we tend to create, let's speak for the unity of one Nigeria.

As a rivers man, PH in particular, I can't speak against or pray for down fall of Lagos or any state in Nigeria just to promote my State or region even though we know the economic politics of Yoruba's through Obasinjo during his rein as a president contributed to the economic Moribund of sea ports in eastern Nigeria laying claim on insecurities which they also planted to give dog a bad name for hanging... But the truth remains you erred when said northners don't invest heavily in SS/SE, for the fact that dangote is building refinery in Lagos does not mean we don't have big businesses or companies owned by northerners in SS region, one of ATIKU's biggest investment is in PH and not Lagos, so what do you mean by northerners don't/won't invest in SS..all the multiple national that has their cooperates headquarters in Lagos and Abuja as a result of economic politics of west against the south have their operational base here in PH/Rivers or within Niger delta region.... The day their operational base here fails to function properly, of Cours their cooperates headquarters will automatically seize to functions anywhere in Nigeria.... We have the golden egg, the day we decides to brake it, the system will collapse completely......

Thanks PMB
I keep asking the origin of the wicked propaganda earlier bandied around how eastern ports were not viable and for large container vessels.

Does Lagos have better roads than PH? Abeg pack well.

There are more and better roads in Lagos except you wants to put your comparison on federal roads. Most federal roads in Lagos are in bad shape today and needs urgent attention while bad roads networks is one of the factors affecting Lagos port within the Apapa axis. Other factors contributing to the congestion around the ports of Lagos are cumbersome transit procedures, inefficient logistics systems and poor infrastructure. There are still some properbility that most ship that will be finding their way to Lagos today may be redirected to onne port due to some logistical reason until those problem are been solved.

hmmm, no wonder. And APM is the parent company of Maersk, APM runs the biggest Lagos port terminal at apapa wharf. So if Maersk line one of their shipping line companies can issue such statement, then APM the parent company must be in support. They can never allow APM to pull out from wharf because of they pull out, apapa port is finished. It was APM that brought sanity and best port operations to wharf, that extended to tincan and the rest to copy them.
