Seriously, as in you stay in Mali? If I may ask what do you do there? Economic prospects etc. Just curious as impression I have is that it is a rundown backwards country.
Stay safe though.

Mali is a beautiful place and not that different from Nigeria where the jihadists in the north and like the Boko Haram in Nigeria north.
Very big country with lots of sociable youths

We thought coup is not popular in the world anymore.
Here we go again.
The coup will not last as no right thinking country will support a military regime.

Sanctions will plunge the country into starvation. A political solution is the answer to bring back democracy soonest

So

We should continue struggle and suffer.

kikero:

I think you want to go back to the day of rule by decree, jailing without trials, and your rights curbed for no good reason.

Some of you guys have forgotten how harsh army rule was.

Plus the Army is made up of, you guessed it, the same old corrupt Nigerians. Nothing will change....

Let's watch and see if any other African country will stage another coup then it will be known as Africa's Arab spring.

After all since the coup in Mali started the Belarusian president has compared the revolution in his country as a coup by opposition leaders.

Let's see if any other country will follow the way of Mali as most African government are fantastically corrupt.

Like Libya and Egypt.

So like this now military regime is back in Africa, and West Africa for that matter. Worst of all, now that the Nigerian army is no longer Nigerian army. Who will come to the rescue?

They are not taking over power. They will give it to a civilian. They just want to ensure fairness and equity like it was done in Zimbabwe.

To me this is the best move so far as long as it will restore peace in that country...that what i think our soldiers abusing buratai should have done at least they will gain support from their mates in and out of sambisa, that move will help to install a credible leader who will broker peace along the divide. Malian soldiers should quickly assemble corrupt politicians as many as possible and tear gas them in a closet, if they survive fine and they don't survive; their wahala. Nigeria needs such move badly.

The real people don't care much.

The widescale corruption and gross leadership incompetence bedevilling the African continent vide our so-called democratic/civilian leaders makes the continent hopeless.

Imagine no one African country in this century has been able to be developed - we are all still third worlds!

Look at the debts, the corruption, the unemployment and insecurity ravaging our country because of leadership incompetence, do you think the ordinary Nigerian cares what type of government is able to help bring the country back to safety and the path of hope and glory.

Democracy -especially in Africa- is a scam.
I concur bro. It's just that I am worried. We are too docile in Africa to hold our so called leaders accountable for their maladministration. They have divided us so much along ethnic and religious lines just to cling unto power to the extent that we can no longer unite to remove them except what is happening in Mali today. It's a shame! A big shame!!! There should be something like the Arab Spring in Sub Saharan Africa to remove these corrupt and nepotistic despots. Call it Sub Saharan Spring or whatever, but let's just do it for the time is now. Failure to do this, our continent will remain in the 13th century.

Can any good political solution come out of a military regime? A coup in this 21st century? This is no good news for Africa at all.

Even Nigeria is long overdue for a military take over... The poor handling of insecurity in the nation, especially the North is more than enough ground.

Since the Legislature have collectively chosen to be unfortunate!!!

Yes, South Korea was developed by the Army, but they did not develop by giving people free things. Most Koreans had to work for long hours to develop their country. If we applied Park Chung Hee methods to Nigeria, people will complain of harshness, and of the government not caring for them.

As for Singapore, they got lucky.

China spent over 20 years being underdevelped by the Mao dictatroship. They are developed now because they allowed the capitalists to run their economy...something we Nigerians don't really want.

If democracy fails, what option do the people have. This is a president that spent $40 million on a private jet when the country couldn't afford to operate in small air force.

Fact! Majority of the infrastructures in Nigeria were built by the military. The airport, new capital, refineries , LNG, roads were all built by the military.

In 21 years of democracy what has democracy delivered in infrastructures and human development, every election is stolen by corrupt politian. Even the richest state in Nigeria, Lagos State cannot finish a light railway that was started in 2008.

Democracy in Nigeria is living on borrowed time they better get their act together.

Fact, the Amry was also corrupt, and also left us an economy heavily dependent on oil..the same economy we are still dealing with up till today.

Fact, the Army could not finish Ajaokuta steel complex and a host of other projects .

Plus, most of the high infrastructures the Army built.....was built in the 1970's when we had the oil boom thanks to massive increase in oil prices. When the oil prices crashed, so did the high infrastructure.

Civilians too did build some infrastructure...plus thanks to Obasanjo allowing GSM companies to run private...we have a telecoms infrastructure miles ahead of what the Army could provide.

Our rail infrastructure also was wrecked by Army mismanagement. It is only under GEJ and Yaradua and even Bubu that we are seeing some development of the thing.
