Anyone born after 1980 in Nigeria needs to work very hard to convince me of their good character. Something happened to this country after 1980. |

duro4chang:You guys will always miss a point There is a relationship between what Nigerian politicians do and Public attitude. It is a learning curve downward. That is why the Nigerian main problem is bad leadership. These leaders influence the people through every means possible tribalism, religion, regional or political, money etc. This has happened over time. It takes self-discovery and discipline not to fall, the victim or trapped. |

There are few contented people here too in Nigeria, I was listening to a program yesterday where a school teacher returned 14m which was mistakenly sent to her account admist her condition during this lockdown it was so convincing we still have those who could still be trusted here in the country tho the bad eggs seems to be the majority. |

Vixlot: You were fortunate to meet one of the good ones there. There are still thousands that will disappoint that your trust over there. There are also many Nigerians that will still do what that Zimbabwean did for you. We still have good people here irrespective of how bad things have turned out. If you think you cannot trust yourself to do the same, me, I can do it for anyone a million times without betraying any single trust expected fro me. We should stop helping to paint Nigerians black generally. In Zimbabwe, many bad things are also happening there, even the ones that we cannot even imagine. There are good and bad ppl there as well as here. Compare their population with that of Nigeria and the rate of crime there. Zimbabwe has a population of around 14million ppl. So the ratio is about 1:15 when compared Zimb vs Nig. So one crime there is seen like 15 crimes in Nigeria. We have our bad side and also our good side. Don't just write off the country. 3 Likes |

We still have more well behaved Nigerians, than the bad ones. Be rest assured, we could have done the same, and even better. Nigerians are still good people. The bad eggs are yet in a small minority. |

Warlord2014:You are absolutely wrong. Who put those people in power. It is not you and I? People care bad and that is why they elect bad people. You will come here and be praising one politician or the other. At times you praise a political party and abuse another. Who among all these people is worth fighting for. Come to think of it, do you think our government came from another continent it hell are they not Nigerians? Are they not the one criticising the past government. If you and I do not change, nothing we change. |

its more of the Value system.. we place more value on money, we respect and praise people with money (whether they got it legally or illegally) than people with integrity & good character most especially Southern Nigeria (SE,SW,SS) our culture especially those of South-East, place too much importance on people with money than people with integrity. thats why when we want to do anything even marriage, money is the most important thing.. from Aseobi to very expensive bride price to spraying money in party etc i have seen very poor countries & communities in the world that are having better standard of living than in most nigerian cities. why? because communities/cities with better standard of living are not built on 100% money but on 30-40% money and 60-70% integrity and good character. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index any society that is built on 100% money mind-set, there will always b greed that leads to crimes, corruption etc. we need to change our value system from MONEY CENTERED TO INTERGRITY & GOOD CHARACTER CENTERED from our homes to religious places to our communities etc. have u noticed that we have changed the definitions of some words.. like HONOURABLE . Honourable means someone that brings honor, trust, integrity.. today we call politicians honorable.. including the ones that are looting the nation dry,.. so are we now saying that based on Nigerian definition of HONOURABLE, looting & embazzment of public fund make one a honorable person in Nigeria? all these and more, are what happens to any society that is MONEY not intergrity/charactered centered. lastly... its not 100% caused by the government but the people or the system, because today`s government leaders were yesterday`s people and today`s people will become some of tomorrow`s government leaders. u cant give want u don't have.. 1 Like

duro4chang:stop talking like a zombie, online agitation, street protests, constructive criticism is better than nothing,.government is like your staff,do you employ staff and leave them alone? The Op post is reffering to the honest nature of Zimbabweans, it says nothing of leaving the government alone, focus on the government, not your neighbour, neglecting politicians you employ to serve you is foolishness. |
Re: Honesty and Contentment: My Experience In Zimbabwe. by duro4chang(m): 10:58am On Aug 19, 2020 |
dederocs:Thank you very much. Until you and I change nothing will change. Your protests and criticisms amount to nothing if the life you live does not portray honesty, selflessness and modesty. How do you get your certificates, how do you do in your neighbourhood and where you work? Do you value dignity of labour? What about your value system? This present government also criticised and protested between 2014 and 2015 here we are today. |

You are absolutely correct. I work in the same office with a Zimbabwean and He told me, they are not comfortable having any dealing with Nigeria, that they have Diamond in their country and many mineral resources But they cannot do business with Nigerian because of their corrupt tendencies and the Bad image in the whole world. I felt ashamed because i know he is right about his opinion on majority of Nigerians who are damaged by the culture of corruption and desperation to acquire wealth by all means even if it means murder |
