Excellent turnaround. Lagos has become choked, forcing them to redirect. Cheers to all in the East.

What and What is in Ibadan that the FG built a railway for?

Useless government! If we have visionary leadership, the first railway should’ve been constructed between Lagos and Onitsha.

Unfortunately, we have blind leaders leading the blinds.

Considering the fact that a significant number of the containers that berth in Apapa goes straight to the South Eastern part of the country

Do have the stats to back up this claim?

If the government and maritime agency know this to be true, why not berth the containers in Portharcourt port instead of berthing in Lagos then doing another round of transporting down to the east? That looks to me like poor logistics arrangement, waste of money, waste of time, unnecessary risk exposure etc..and trust me, knowing the kind of corrupt country we live in, cargo owners will now be made to pay multiple port landing/handling fees, this expenses they will now transfer into the cost of their goods and Las Las na we the consumers go pay for the government's short sightedness.

FYI this is not the first time such a measure has been tried.

6 months down the line, things will somehow magically go back to the way they now are.

That is Nigeria for you.
If mistakenly taken to onitsha of all places, FORGET IT. They'll make sure they keep it going. Igbos are the "main importers and exporters we have in this country" as in they constitute the MAJORITY so they will MORE THAN LOVE IT. Besides, they can even maneuver their way easily there with customs people as na their hometown na. It will depopulate Lagos GREATLY
Though I "think" this may be a deliberate attempt by the government to get at the SW (maybe the BT crew). "I think"

Yes, because the population of buyers are in the East, more than Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt combined. You need to drop what you are smoking before the thing itself drops you. where you ddon't expect.

This is a nice plan.

Although for now, it's nothing but that, a plan.

This is a govt of smoke and mirrors so let's keep watching till we actually see it come to pass

Nice one, the economy will surely soar...

This government should stop making it obvious that they despise education. Budgets for education is always low so they are now using the corona stuff to shut it down permanently. If left for them, every pupils should remain at home till 2023 with the fight against corona as excuse.

The same corona that they have haphazardly fought to the point of ridicule.

Biko, let our students back to school because you ain't doing jack.
The current issue is a milestone by the govt, let's give kudos to PMB for this one and focus the criticism right

why not find another way for easy traffic in Apapa Lagos because
1 in terms of security
2 clearing cost , shipping charges and transport back to Lagos will be high
all cost will bounce back on end user

Onitsha markets feed Abuja markets , Port Harcourt markets and other cities in middle belt and Southsouth, the distance from Onitsha to Abuja is closer when compare from Lagos to Abuja same with other cities in Southsouth, even Edo and Ondo buy some of their goods from Onitsha

Now you can bet that Igbo votes are guaranteed for APC come 2023... grin grin grin

Politicians are the devil, they give you an inch to take your mile.

As in, where this succeeds, they've gotten the 100% votes of igbos. Igbos wouldn't even mind if the north continues the presidency. That port would mean a lot to igbos as they would not want to breathe in Lagos anymore. "TO THEM" THEY HAD HAD ENOUGH (from Lagos or Yorubas lol) and besides, it on their soil. NO MORE BIAFRA! NO MORE COMPLAINS! And I bet you, that port would do extremely well (whether it gets great funding or not). So long it's open. Some people are just hell bent on making sure tinubu don't rule this country I tell you (This I feel was targeted to him and his cronies cos like joke he was becoming INVICIBLE and a threat to buhari and his cronies). Politics is indeed DIRTY and a game of mind. Chai!
