Is It Right For Mr Daura To Be Exempted And Allowed To Travel Out At This Time? by seunlayi(m): 1:44pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
There are social media reports that the former journalist and industrialist had been infected with COVID-19 and was flown out on medical emergency. He was said to have developed breathing difficulties “consistent with COVID-19” on Friday and was reportedly flown out on Wednesday for treatment. -------------------------- An aide and close friend of Mamman Daura, Aminu Balele Kurfi, has said that the nephew to President Muhammadu Buhari travelled to London for routine medical check-up. ----------------------------- Nigeria had on March 23 suspended local and international flights to and from the country as one of the ways of curtailing the spread of coronavirus which has so far infected over 50,000 Nigerians and killed 985 of them. While local flights resumed on July 8, international flights will only resume on August 29. It is unclear why an exemption was made for Mr Daura to fly out of the country for routine medical tests. The question is if it is right for Mr Daura to be exempted and allowed to travel out of the country at this time? |

One reports says he went for business deal in the UK while another reports says he went for a routine medical check up. Which do we believe now? If he traveled to carry out a business transaction in London, that can wait, I guess. Going for a routine medical check up can also wait except there is some underlying urgent health risk that must be looked into. Time is the revealer of secrets. I wish Mamman Daura a safe recovery/good business deal in the UK. |

helinues: As long as it's government money, rather than his PERSONAL money, it is everyone's concern. Btw, hope you know the cost of chartering a private flight. |

amakadlite: Nothing at all to do with anyone being above the law. Private and charter flights only need permission from the appropriate authority to take off and land almost anywhere worldwide. That aviation protocol is universal and was even in place during lockdown but enforced more strictly then. The rich and well-to-do will always have privileges in life not available to everyone. If anyone wants those privileges then they should make the effort and put in the hard work to join that elite group rather than remain on the sideline beefing those people as if it is wrong or undesirable to be rich and/or successful. |
