On behalf of oga Emma; Here is what to do:
Download the respective e-mandates from this link
https://sec.gov.ng/public-notice-the-e-dividend-mandate-activation-forms-of-various-registrars-are-now-available-for-download/

Your dad takes them to his bank and submit. All things being equal ie no signature issues, the dividends not later than 12 years will be credited to his account. If otherwise the respective registrars will advice on the way forward.

N.B: For DFM your dad is getting a pay off not only dividend because Olam already bought the coy over and it has been delisted from the NSE

Pls are there any charges when one take the form to banks? And is it just any bank that one banked with?

According to SEC as at the time the drive for collection of unclaimed dividend started few years back it was free and I'm not sure if the free period is over or not. Otherwise there is no charges whether taken to bank or registrars

Yes you take the form to any of the bank you have account with. The only bank not acceptable is microfinance. All clearing bank and whether savings or current account is acceptable.

Very disturbing develolpment, although most financial institutions in the world are corrupt, but ours in Nigeria is becoming something else. Our system in Nigeria makes it very easy for people to steal and loot public funds with impunity. We should create a system that makes it easier for everybody to monitor everybody, that would make it difficult for people to falsify figures and steal conveniently.

One of the biggest lessons I have learnt from the west, particularly Germans, is how everybody is indirectly a police to everybody, ensuring maximum protection of lives, properties and public funds, and that also saves the govt lots of time and money.

In Nigeria, lots of things are done in utmost secrecy, awarding of contracts in particular. The only time they go public is when some parties are no longer satisfied with the sharing formular of their loots.

ahiboilandgas:
Are we save with dmo debt instruments....The Debt Management Office, DMO is currently enmeshed in corruption scandal, Saturday Vanguard can report. Money amounting to N1.08 billion is alleged to be lost from 2017 till date, thereby raising corruption cases the country is battling.

It was learnt that the large-scale financial wrongdoings in the office would likely draw the attention of anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The corruption is allegedly being perpetrated through various means ranging from awards of contracts, operating on temporary files, unauthorized overseas trips, organization of fictitious events, production of fake transport receipts and destruction of official documents.

Chronicle of frauds

In December, 2017, the office requested the then Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun to approve the sum of N90 million to cover travel expenses to states for eight DMO Staff to carry out reconciliation of the Paris Club Refunds. Adeosun approved N60 million for the exercise.

The money was released to the DMO via AIE No. CMD/SW/REC/008/2018 dated 12th January, 2018 but the members of staff nicknamed ‘the Task Force’, we gathered, never travelled to any states.

They rather worked in-house to conclude the assignment, using the records already in the possession of the DMO.

It was gathered that the money was subsequently withdrawn in tranches, brought to the office and distributed to the staff contrary to extant regulations

The first tranche of the money, it was learnt, was N4.8 million, the 2nd, 3rd & 4th tranches were released in the sum of N20 million each and N15.2 million respectively totaling N60 million.

It was gathered that the eight staff of DMO who did the work were only given about N2,500,000 each on the average, making a total of about N20 million with the balance of N40 million allegedly diverted.

Incidentally, the money which was an advance payment from the Ministry of Finance to DMO has not been retired till date.

In November, 2019, the office also approved money to be paid for events which included sensitization workshops on “various products recently introduced” by DMO in four commercial cities of Ibadan, Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Owerri. The events and trips, for which a total of N130 million was expended, it was gathered, never existed or took place.

N401.3million paid on contract splitting, media consultancy, using temporary file (T1- T1 million)

@emmasoft say for instance for someone that’s active, if he buys some shares in 2018 and goes to submit the e-dividend mandate in 2020, will the registrar automatically pay up the the outstanding dividend or does he still have to go through the procedures for unpaid dividends?

Of course it will be credited. Once you submit your completed mandated form to the registrar or bank Whether it was 12 years ago or last year. Any dividend that has not been collected by the shareholder on the stipulated payment date by the company that declared it, it's regarded as unclaimed dividend and so it must be claimed by the SEC approved way ie fill, submit and be credited.

I checked my dads name , he name appeared in uacn. Do they hv dividend history? My papa is alive
emmanuelewumi:

That is if he signed for e-dividend, in the past Investors were given dividend warrants a form of cheque.

Transcorp is not a good company, I doubt it is worth the effort if that is the only company

Sorry about that. I guess it could be network wahala. You cannot do that at the bank at the moment.
Alternatively, I have PM you so that I can have your email and Send a form that can be completed offline to you. If possible call/chat me on 08181057319 I will also assist.
Thank you for choosing Investment One.

Kdos to emma and those who brought up the witheld dividends issue.

It looks like a relatively straightforward process and most people are not aware. I believe such is front-page worthy so more people can claim their unpaid dividends

Good morning gurus in the house. Thank you for sharing the shares link.

Please I need help on this; I bought some shares with Gtbank and the then Allstates bank . For each purchase I did not receive any certificate and I did not push to get them. Though I made attempts to get them but other things took my time. I searched the link but my name is not found.

What could be the problem?

Also, how do i go about reclaiming the shares?

Thanks.

From around 2007, you could only buy a stock when you have a cscs account, in all of such any share you buy or sell, you get sent an SMS to alert you of sales.

As Oga Emma said that is a possibility and so don't expect any dividend. However, if you bought the shares yourself and you are sure, then visit Datamax Registrars for GTBank shares, Ecobank bought over Allstates bank so go to GTL Registrars for that. In each of the case, go along with an acceptable ID card. At the office of the registrars you will get the true status of your holdings if any.

If you have holdings with the coys you stated then each registrar will give you a dematerialization form ( process of converting holdings in physical certificate into electronic form and deposited into a cscs account) so that the shares can be deposited electronically into your cscs. that means you will need to open a cscs account and a stockbroking house will process the form with the registrars.

When you have confirmed your status and it's positive, click the link on my signature to open a cscs account with investment one. It's free.

Who know the registrar for Nigerian Breweries Plc?

Am looking at digging up whether my late father left shares behind. I tried the digging then when NB plc handled its own affairs. Is it possible to get information from their registrar without the encumbrances of docs? If only I can have access to know whether he still has or he does not I will be happy. Also just found out he had account with UBA. Can I go to any branch of UBA to make enquiries?

He died in May, 2006.

What do you think?

The last few days here has being on unclaimed dividends. And the trend am seeing is something like this, ''i checked the list and saw my late dad's name''

Is it that the past generation was secretive about their assets and investments?

If this is the case, then i begin to wonder how many peoples' assets and investments have disappeared into the wind after their death because the next generation know nothing about them.

It can't happen again with BVN.

Syndicates in the post office, Registrars and some banks used to make money from shares of dead shareholders but that not possible again.

I don't think the old generation were secretive, I think they were not educated about the importance of having a will.

Safelock from figybest offered an investment of 13% per annum, with upfront interest as in tbills. They microfinance fintech with highest numbers of investors. I like their services but sustainability issue is what i am still no confidence with.
