Help My Pup by Southbeach: 8:50pm On Aug 22, 2020
Goodevening petlanders.

I dont know how best to put it but I'll just get on with it..

I have a 4months old samoyed pup, very active and agressive.
But for the past 4days now, I've noticed a trait of her always throwing up shortly after every meal.
I am newbie and this is my first dog, so I've read every thing i could as seek all the advice I could get with no changes whatsoever.
I took her to the vet this morning and she was given some treatments and drugs I was advices to administer later on.

But the funny things is, she's still as active, agressive and super playful as always with no signs of her being sick except her throwing up which is of great concern to me.

Kindly help me with whatever I can do to get my pup back in shape again.

Thanks

To start that's am Eskimo not a samoyed
Re: Help My Pup by VickyRotex(f): 2:11am On Aug 23, 2020
Since you've taken her to the vet, just administer the drugs and monitor for improvement like the vet advised.

It's not uncommon for a dog to have IBS, inflammation, or stomach infection. I'll say you relax and just watch her. If she doesn't improve after couple of days then you can take her back to the vet.

In the meantime, if she's showing any sign of discomfort, you can try petting or rubbing her stomach to ease the pain.

I'm not even sure what breed she is at this point.
A friend who owns 2 pitbulls kept insisting shes an Eskimo but my vet and few experience dog owners ive met said she's a Samoyed which makes me even more confused.
See mother's pic tho

She woke up over excited this morning, all riled up and jumpy, still with no sign of being sick.
Today must be a good day I think, so i went dish her food (she dosnt like cold food), but she only picked out the meats from it and went back to her playful mode.
I'm keeping an eye on her to see what happens today.
Thanks so much for you advice.

Oh nice. Sounds like she's getting back in shape. Yea, give it time. I'm sure she'll get back to her normal food routine soon.

You're welcome!

Ha. So you're a dog pro abi too ?? Me and this O.P have similar worries. They say my own is a Samoyed terrier.Same hyper activeness and extremely playful. Almost put of control @just 2 months. Extra clingy and loves petting just like you said.

Another question, is it in its 'sleeping mode' or does he have an erection?

Ishilove, am I really discussing this on a public forum? I am starting to feel ashamed. You are bad influence. tongue

I have a neighbor who has a brood of Eskimos. They should be up to 10 in that compound. Noisy little buggers, they are, which is why I recognise them anywhere I see them.

Arya ignored her food all thru yesterday still. Takes a glance and just walks away.
So i decided to take today off to keep tabs on her.
I took out a can and some kibbles form what I had stashed away (was told to stop feeding her canned foods so she dosnt get too addicted to it) and gave it to her this morning,,, The bitch wiped the plate clean grin grin
Gave her same thing for lunch and she munched it all without a trace cheesy... then i decided to give her the leftover from yesterday (served warm as she likes it) this evening and she dint even go close to it.

So today's experience made it obvious she just wanted to change her diet. And there's actually nothing to worry about.
Thanks for ur submission.

hahaha very nice! Dogs are just so funny and sweet. cheesy

She seems to want to do meat for now rather than actual food, which is not bad like you said. Especially if she was suffering from indigestion or food irritation. A change will help the stomach wall heal. Just watch it, cos 2 weeks down the line she may be asking for pounded yam. grin lol try to stick to a meal plan for her, while also being flexible in case of times like this.

Incase you're interested in reading more about your Samoyed (or eskimo- since your dog alternates between both breeds grin) check out this link. https://dogbreedslist.com/dog-breeds/samoyed/

Here's an excerpt from the link:

Samoyeds can be picky eaters.
Make sure to set good eating habits now as it will help to keep them as your dog matures without wrecking your nerves or your budget
.

She looks so adorable cool If you dont mind me asking, does she have to be on a leash despite being in the enclosed space?

Btw, Arya: very cute name. Apt name for a samoyed (or Eskimo) due to their dognality.

@bolded, cheesy cheesy cheesy Super Apett will surely save me the troubles when that time comes grin grin grin

Ahhhhh.... Not leashing her has always been a tug of war when its time for her to poop. and i cant deal with the craziness that comes with that moment every single time

Shes fond of always going to the sandy part of the compound to roll in the sands afterwards and every attempt to get her back inside always result in me and my siblings doing a 4x400m relay round the building embarassed embarassed...

Cant keep up with her energy mhen..

hehehehe relay race. lol. Ah I see. She's still a puppy so that explains the hyper activeness. (and her breed is also known for the extra energy). It's alright if leashing her helps to curb the craziness. With time she'll get used to it.

But it's good she's keeping you guys on your toes though. lol cool
