Thanks for sharing, but does it mean that it will be mature enough before it's removed surgically? someone close to me it's affected with it, although he's been to the hospital, they optometrist abi optician whichever told him the cataract isn't ripe for surgery instead he would be given glasses which will aid his vision and sight,so is there something we can do pending when it's time for the surgery, thanks. |

I once have cataract in my right eye. It was very painful. The doctors were charging N350,000 in Eko hospital just for eye surgery. I happen to meet one of my primary school mate in 1996. I visited him at home and when his dad saw my eye, he took a close look at it and he went to agility in mile 12, and brought a leave , heated the leave up and squeeze the water into a spoon and pour it into my eye. He repeated it thrice and that was the end of cataract. I have been using that same eye now for more than 20 years now, no issue.i see very clearly. The problem now is, I have been searching for that my friend now and have not been able to found him. Since he relocated from mile 12, in Lagos. I wish I know the leave that will have been helpful to alot of people who has cataract. 6 Likes |

InaNla:Cost 400-500k per eye for the laser surgery in Abuja. They remove the covering after one day but you need to avoid infection by avoiding water contact with the eyes and applying the eye drops as prescribed 1 Like |

InaNla: ● Cataracts can develop after an eye injury.... sometimes years later. Above was my case. Eye injury since around 5 years old.....developed cataract yearsss later. Lost vision in that eye real fast .... like 3 months after first symtoms.... when cataracts normally take years to develop and cause blindness. First....seeing like dots .... then like tiny worms.... then like seeing through a thin dirty plastic ... then cloudiness in strong sunlight... but kinda clears up at nights... then gradual loss of periphery vision.... no side vision.... only what was directly in front... the cloudiness was increasing rapidly... from dirty plastic.... to thick translucent plastic... and finally to thick white plastic... I went blind in that eye... in blindness the colour is white ... like staring at a bright light through white plastic. I checked.in and the experts told me point blank... it was caused by trauma..... and it was extremely thick.... so thick that they had to use other equipment to study it. To your questions.... it is pretty expensive and from what I learned.... it is very technical... and can go wrong very quickly ... and that can lead to blindness. My advice to anyone.... get it done by an eye surgeon... one who specializes in the field.. and does that only. Find out about his reputation.... and if the surgery is well equipped and pretty modern. On healing.... I did surgery the evening... around 6 p.m.... took like 30 minutes... which was a long time for them..... bandaged up the eye... had to report back the following morning like 8 a.m. He ripped the bandage off and I was seeing again! The thing is.... they give medications to prevent infections.... and bed rest is recommended.... the main thing is eye pressure.. can't do strenuous work... work out etc... but you can read and watch TV and all that.... kinda weird to me.... but who is the expert? Bed rest was like a month.... but frequent check ups especially right after the surgery.... then vision tests and frequent change of medication. The surgery is not at all painful... but the pressure is great... is like the surgeon be resting his elbow on your face... and be tugging and pulling....they do not knock you out unless necessary. I strongly believe the hauled out my eyeball... to change the lens and dig out the cataract. I guess no nerves in the eyeball so no pain. My advice..m first symtom... go and have your eyes checked... if it is cataract... n.v then you can have a few years to save and have a plan. The one caused by diabetes..... that's dead serious... just stay away from stuff that bring on diabetes. 7 Likes 1 Share |

zinoad: This is my peeve.... for every natural disease ... there is a natural cure. As Africans... we know these cures but quickly abandon them for pharmaceutical and surgeries. I suggest you make it your mission to find that man... the name of the leaf... farm the plant.... and produce the remedy. Your price can never be too much in the West. 1 Like |

I need to know something. When you look at the mirror and shine torchlight to the mirror, the pupil( middle black hole) appears white. Please is it normal for everybody or it's a cataract? And is it true teenagers can have cataract? Also use of phones can cause cataract, because they emit radiation. Fact: Dial *#07# on your phone. If it is SAR <1.6watt/kg, you are safe but if it's > you are exposing yourself to too much radiation. 1 Like |
