sola21:Start gathering or rather building evidences around your relationship as in, stay in touch everyday through WhatsApp calls, WhatsApp Chat, Facebook chat and so on. The pictures you snapped with each other and your child too should help |

Hello, Am just starting my application for my spouse but his passport expires in the next 6months. By the time we are ready to submit, his passport will only have 5 months to expiration. Can I go ahead or should we apply for a new Nigeria Passport before submitting application. Please advise. Thank you |

@justwise please I really need your advice on this Is it advisable to go for a tier5 Uk visa this period? If yes..please what’s the process? How do I get a COS from a licensed sponsor so I can get started. Been trying to use agents to go through the process but almost all of them are not familiar with this type of visa. |

Please I need help. I have been reading and reading but I have not seen a case like mine. My Guy got a job in the UK last year, and was asked to resume work on 8th June, 2019. Due, to the love we shared he paid my bride price on 28th May, 2019. And husband travelled to the UK last year(June 7, 2019). The issue here is that, Corona has really scattered the plans of him coming back, and we don't know how feasible his coming back and going back will be, not knowing the Quarantine rules. My parents and his parents are suggesting I go meet him in UK, and this is to save cost( we are young and starting life). My Questions now are 1) Can I tidy a marriage certificate from a court and backdate it to the date we did our traditional marriage? 2) If its possible, which court will be preferred? Can I do it in Enugu or Onitsha? 3) If I am able to get the certificate, will pictures matter while applying?. I miss my husband so much and we want to save cost. |

Pamelapencil: 1-Traditional you are married , but I don't think you can apply with dat... But plz don't back date anytyn. It is not easy as u think and it I'll give u a 10years ban... BCS dey verify everything 2- it's possible but not advisable 3- yes it does mata Please don't miss him too much and do the wrong thing.b patient till when your husband can get back to nija and go to court for your ceremony. Ur self and hubby,4 witnesses 2from each family u r good to go. You don't have to wear a wedding gown or do a reception. So u cuttyn cost already... I understand how u feel about the distance but patience is the key. |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Monmarri: 7:55am On Aug 29, 2020 |
Pamelapencil: Q1. Dear please don't think of doing it. I know it is possible in Nigeria, don't complicate matters that might give you a ban of 10 years, then u have y self to blame. Most of this registry embassy still do underground check and if you go ahead and tidy a marriage certificate, the court might not document it for you and embassy now make enquiry noting to proof you did wedding at their registry. Beside you can only tidy up marriage certificate in local registry not in recognized registry that are standard. My advice just exercise patience and pray the pemdemic ends and y hubby comes bk and you do real registry. Q2. Any one is preferable provided the certificate is recognised. Q3. Pictures matters alot. It is part of the prove. Very relevant! Just you and hubby and two witnesses are just ok. Moreso, you need to verify if the visa that your hubby have in the UK can bring in the partner. Because if the visa can not bring in partner then you have to be visiting. Just verify and know the kind of visa, then the house can advise. 1 Like |

OlakunmiSMELTD: If you don't have a transit visa......... No stamp..... Ensure you have toothbrush, bathing soap + towel in your hand luggage....... After you freshen up, find a comfortable chair, head to any airport restaurant, feed your belly full (they don't accept naira). Hold your debit/credit card or cash........ |

nonso10: Thanks all for the information & insights. I've been greatly encouraged with the various comments. Does anyone have update on spouse visa? Here's my application history....... Application type: *Spouse visa (STANDARD)* Online application submitted: *17th January 2020* Biometrics enrolled: *14th February 2020* Biometrics confirmation mail from VISAINFO.SHEFO on *17th February 2020* In Wk17, precisely *9th June 2020*, we sent enquiry status on application Received email from UKVI Contact Centre Service on *11th June 2020* that "*decision has been made but due to COVID-19 situation, various UK and overseas offices are closed and as such, delays may be incurred*". In Wk23, precisely *24th July 2020*, I forwarded another enquiry mail. Response from UKVI contact centre service on 3rd August 2020 that *"we have referred your application to colleagues on the relevant team and asked that they look into having your documents returned to you as soon as possible"* Still waiting....the wait is nerve wrecking! |

Kinpelz:Hi Kinpelz, have you received any update on spouse application i.e UKVI or TLS correspondence? |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Kinpelz(f): 4:27pm On Sep 02, 2020 |
Not yet. I am already tired of waiting and very angry with entire process but there is nothing I can do. I wrote them a complaint and they responded with the below. I also got same email that my application has been referred to colleagues... -------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for your email correspondence of 6 August where you have raised a complaint stating that you submitted your visa application on 16 February and were told a decision had been made, when you contacted the Decision-Making Centre on 6 April, but you have still yet to receive your passport. I am unable to uphold your complaint. The Sheffield Visa Team have advised that a decision on your application was completed and notified to colleagues at the British Deputy High Commission (BDHC) in Lagos, in March. Regrettably, however, they were unable to release the decision to you, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, and have now asked to be sent a newly-dated decision. Unfortunately, as the application is over 90 days old, it is likely that the decision will need to be printed within our UK office and sent securely to BDHC Lagos. I regret that I am, therefore, unable to provide any timescale for the return of your passport and decision. Whilst I appreciate that this is not the response you had hoped for, I trust it has helped to clarify the situation chaRloBass: |

Kinpelz: Many thanks Kinpelz for the update, though it's frustrating, I'm relieved cos same must have applied to me. Let's believe God and keep hope alive...It will turn out for our good. You can also have your spouse nudge UKVI through her MP, I understand this works. Please stay in touch. Cheers 1 Like 1 Share |

I almost died reading the various reports here on nairaland on spousal visa considering I had to do same for wifey. Very informative platform as usual but scarry accounts. Finally put my act together and applied for her and she picked up her passport with the vignette today. I've told her to let me recover first from the expenses before we talk about her travelling. LoL. Timeline Applied: 28 Aug 2020 Biometrics (VI): 31 Aug 2020 TLS Passport collect msg: 07 Sept 2020. Visa type: Global Talent dependant. |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Monmarri: 4:06am On Sep 08, 2020 |
Chukwuka16: Wow! That was too fast. Congrats on you and wify. Please can you explain the global talent dependant, First time hearing of it. |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Chukwuka16: 7:58am On Sep 08, 2020 |
Monmarri: Dependant is same across board - someone depending on the main applicant (spouse/civil partner and under 18 children). The GTV is a repackaged Tier 1 exceptional talent visa with the slight modification being that academics can now be assessed by UKRI for it. It's main advantages over tier 2 are that you can work for anyone and no one and get settled in 3 years (years spent on tier 2 count towards the 3 years). |

Hi guys, It’s me again! I hope you all can indulge me. I’m applying for my spouse visa sometime this week and I need to make sure I’m on the right track. So my husband and I are currently living in my uncles house. He’s writing us a letter to state that we are allowed to be there indefinitely but the problem is that his ex wife’s name is still on the land deed. They separated nine years ago and she left, my uncle hasn’t gotten around to taking her name off the house yet. I’m submitting the letter from him, property inspection report and the land deed (which still has the wife’s name as co-owner) It’s a three bedroom house and it meets the accommodation requirement. It’s just me, my partner and my uncle living here at the moment. Will her name being on the deed mess my application up? What do I do? Should I explain this in the cover letter? |
