Ishilove:It is actually a serious problem if he's has undescended testicles at this age and has not gone for surgery to bring it down. @op I don't want to scare you with medical jargon but if you have undescended testicles at this age you need to run to a general hospital asap 1 Like |

Testosterone injection should be able to solve the problem, but before then you can run some hormal test like TSH |

Horerku:Your height, late puberty, delay in the development of secondary sexual characteristics.... etc are pointer to a genetic abnormality called Kleinefelter's syndrome, google it. |

Klinefelter is bad, if he truly has that then he'll most probably be infertile for life. Although with a modern technique, he might be able to get a woman pregnant but will that technique be available in Nigeria? Ninejaywon: |

Goalnaldo: My body felt like frozen water was poured on me. I googled it and saw the same thing online. It even happens to men. I was a little relieved to discover that the abnormality occurs. I just couldn't bring myself to talk about it. Thank God the fling ended when she returned to school after strike back then. 1 Like |

Karleb: My initial stance was to keep quiet while you continue your discussion with the other NLander on whether the op's medical challenges is secondary to a metabolic disorder or not. However, seeing this latest comment from you, I felt compelled to wade in. This is not a metabolic disorder, not even close. |

@Horerku I am sorry about your condition. you are being investigated for hormonal and genetic disorders. As it has been said by many here, Klinefelter syndrome is high possibility. I wish you have results of tests done so far, we could have started from there. I would advise you to scan or make copies of your medical laboratory requests and results if you have access to them. if are planning to switch to luth or other hospitals, please request for copies of your results or comprehensive medical report. I wish you the best. 2 Likes |

Hisxlency01: TSH aka Thyroid stimulating test points to a problem with the thyroids. Thyrotoxicosis will not cause a delay in puberty neither will it lead to a tall stature beyond the mid-parental height as it promotes the early closure of the epiphyses. Similarly, hypothyroidism is not related to delayed puberty in males and can lead to macroorchidism (big testicles) which is in contradistinction to what the op is complaining about here. Hypothyroidism will also cause short stature which isn't also the case here. At op, I am also very much interested in your bone age. It will be interesting to see what age your body thinks it is vs what your real age is. An xray of your left hand will give us a clue. |

Horerku: Looking at what you are going through and the story of your life, there is likely a link between what you are going through and your terrible upbringing. There is an intelligence that runs through life. My guess is that you have a tall and abusive dad/caregiver in the mix somewhere. That will be the subconscious reason for your body's decision to skip puberty and reach adulthood quickly and also the logic behind the quick spurt of growth to 6.5 to rise above the height and the intimidation of the fearful abuser. This was an adaptation to protect you and keep you and your loved ones safe. Life is intelligent. If there is some semblance of truth to this my conjecture, then I will also encourage you to to go to a therapist to heal your traumatic past in addition to your hospital trips. Mind-body medicine has proven that what happens in our minds affect what happens to our body and that we can heal our body by healing our minds. My 2 cents. We can talk more about this if you wish. 1 Like |

3kay945: It's called polythelia. There is another form that is with multiple breast tissues rather than multiple nipples. Reminds me of the lady with three breasts in the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie "Total Recall" |

BOSMANARIS: Apparently this is not clear. But I'll use as much layman's terms as possible to explain. The scrotrum (rugae bag that holds the balls) is so shaped and structured for different reasons one of which is to carefully control the temperature of the two balls in it within acceptable limits of temperature that is conducive for formation and survival of sperm cells and the production of hormones (regulatory chemicals of the human body). This bag can contract to "tightly pack" the balls when the temperature is cold or relax to give a "dangling" appearance when temperature is warm. In the womb, the male baby develops its balls inside the abdomen but when delivery is getting close, the two balls slowly descend and enter the scrotrum (bags). When male babies are born, the doctors examine the bags to determine if the balls are there. If not, the mother may be adviced to regularly check for it and if by 5 or 6 months the bags are still empty then the child is brought in for evaluation. If it remains within the groin or abdomen after 6 months, an undesvetnded tested is likely. It requires quick surgical fix otherwise it proves to have undesirable health risks such as infertility and increased risk for testicular cancer, which is understandably true because the balls which should be within well regulated temperature will now be exposed to the persistently hot mileau of the abdomen or groin. Like chicken eggs which requires tightly controlled temperature to hatch failure of which it remains as eggs which then rots away. Parents are responsible for observing their children over the years leading to puberty for features that are off which should immediately be reported to the doctor. I remember wify being worried over something as flimsy as a tiny foreskin fragment remaining for some months after the circumcision of our boy. To her, the circumcision was not perfected at that point being a medical person that has herself either witnessed or done a number of such procedures. She was sore worried it may affect the child's manly (sexual) functions. Though the redundant skin later slid off but it still took some convincing from me and later her observation of the presence of normal early morning penile turmescence (erections) in the boy for her to rest her mind. FreeSpirited: Don't be like this. How is it unrelated? Endocrine and metabolic disorders can indeed co-exist in a number of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndromes. Maybe you're not a medical personnel though. It's not bad to have dissenting opinion on issues but don't act like your own opinion is the incontrovertible one. And even if your opinion is the gospel truth, which it is not, that's no reason to be brash; that is not a nice way to disagree. Having said that, the OP's case is not something to trivialise. He is advanced in age and should HAVE negotiated some developmental stages before now, stages which he himself feels he has not experienced. This is usually one of the first symptoms patients themselves notice that makes them to seek medical opinion. And I think the OP was a little slack in acting. He should have complained to his parents when he is around 22 years and notices features off with his secondary sexual characteristics. If he is shy about talking to his parents, information abound on the internet these days (the luxury we did not have as teenagers) to arm yourself with when going to talk to your parents or the doctor about it. I don't subscribe to the "do not to worry", "you're blessed with not having to shave down there", "you're blessed with baby face and girly voice to sing", "you're just a late bloomer" and "as long as you have erection, then you need not worry" responses. There are enough worries for person for this world already and adding the issue of having to visit the doctor in order to give woman belle to it is not something desirable. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Horerku:Ohh.. Then you are right to say you have not reach puberty truly. Let me tell you, the physiological problem is that you have inadequate hormone of either gonaldotrophin or Androgen or both. I fear if this is the case after laboratory testing, You are already acting too late, the corrections are expensive drugs and injections but must have started at infant not age 28. Your testicles must have been negatively affected by your body temperature since the scrotum were tightly packed. This is not your fault but the stupidity of yhe Dr and nurse where you are delivered plus the ingnorance of your parent. Every male child must be placed in a bowl of water to check if the scrotum float or attempt to float on the water, if it those not float or attept to float this your problem is bound to happen. Very high risk of what we call 'impotential coendi' (sterility). This your case is very similar that of Lionel messi the great footballer but his own was discovered very early and treated. Go for medical check please. Never say never. 1 Like 1 Share |

peacettw: Metabolic disorder is the inability of the body to either produce or destroy any biomolecule. His case: his body can not produce sex hormones that brings out the male characteristics. Hormones are biomolecules. Theoretical, the cure is to stimulate the gonads to keep producing these sex hormones. |
