THIS IS REALLY AN EXCELLENT NEWS TO ME
Last time I went to pay my Electric Bill, come see how the staff just dey form Voltron/Super Man as if he's helping me. I was so pissed off I gave him some bad mouthing. Imagine a guy I used to give some tips whenever I go to pay estimated bill that I didn't consume fa!
I just left there fuming and complaining to myself.
Thank God my supplications have been heard.

IMPLICATIONS OF THIS NEWS :

1.PHCN officials don't have the right to delay your payment by telling you there's no network come back, (because they want to arrange their Chwachwa, fraud, personnel robbing of the PHCN).
2. They can not claim your payment did not reflect since it hits their accounta directly.

3. You can now go to any operator of Money Agents and make payments once there is network with any Agency POS machine ( of which they use different banks POS). NO EXCUSE.You don't necessarily have to go and queue in the banks. Agenta can do the basic banking operations.

4. PHCN will be forced to release New Prepaid Machines to customers, and eventually it will become Free to obtain (which is supposed to be the norm)

5. Customers are the ones to enjoy this new development because of the freedom of and variety of payments options.

I am happy on this directive. Before now the discos shortchange everybody because there was no means to track their income but now the CBN and their creditors will monitor.
Since every customer ( metered and unmetered) has a billing number, let the list of customers be forwarded to the banks for them to design a payment platform (online and offline),through this all payments will be monitored. Customers can instruct thier banks to be funding their accounts every month.
Next line of directive should be on prepaid meter (if possible sold in the open markets like done on Phones)

Very good move which will bring to an end of the habit of DICSOs pocketing all the money and not remitting to TCN its own share of it.

However, consumers may possibly face delays between real time payment and resumption of services (e.g. after recharge of depleted prepaid meter or reconnection after disconnection) if the bank fails to remit payments to the DISCOs in time.

Discos hide and seek is over...you can't hide behind the guise that your consumers do not pay substantial amount of money.

I am happy with this new development. Naso this stupid people forced my landlord to sign an agreement that we will be paying 15k as light bill every month instead of 6 to 7K because of little misunderstand when they came to cut light in my area.

90k sir, it was to be around 38k sometimes three years ago we saw they added extra 30k, I went to their office severally to complain,
nothing came out of it and I left.

I do not disagree with you neither am I absolving the Discos of being culpable due to their nonsense high estimated billing but there's some truth in what the Discos are saying. A significant proportion of Nigerians do not pay their electricity bills. Many are into illegal connection of light and/or tampering of prepaid meter.

Very fantastic news. I once worked for one of the DisCos and u won't believe the monumental corruption going on there.

Go to there office with the receipt you collected after payment .. show them at the office but the main reason they cut ur lyt na because ur debt too much

Exactly. This, will allow the CBN and FG have access to real data and address whatever challenges crippling payment and remittance in the power sector.

I see this as stupid. Ikeja Electricity already I know don't collect these money, it is transacted via agents or banks. But what happen to those agents right now. I just think this is a way to reward some elites

don't even go there, it won't and would never eradicate estimated billings. the banks won't bill you, remember, the discos would do the billing all you have to do is, do your payment to the banks.
this might be for accountability of which I'm in doubt, cos the banks 'emselves ain't accountable. it be a ploy between both industry to enable the discos increase electricity tariff. all would here is at the long run is 'as a result of the new payment system, the discos are bearing to much financial burden due to bank charges by so doing the would have to increase tariff.'
