We often forget that FOOTBALL is BUSINESS before SPORTS.

Only a fool will allow Messi leave for free. Of which by the way MESSI IS NOT LEAVING BARCA.

There is no sensible reason for leaving moreso no viable no option to leave to.

This not the first time Messi leaving rumor will be coming up. He has renewed contract more times than Real Madrid has won the Champions league this century.

SE QUEDA ... MESSI

P.S.
He would definitely not want to leave in this low esteem circumstance and inglorious manner.
But he has already handed in his transfer request.

I'll prefer Messi to see off his contract and get a proper send off... Not this abrupt termination of contract...

If he has an iota of respect for the club, he should leave in the right way,.. not on the back of an 8-2 humiliating defeat... Iniesta,Xavi, Puyol all left honorably,... Why should his case be different?..

I still hope he doesn't leave... And if he does leave this season,it would be very humiliating to Barca(because they'll see a verysignificant drop in finances) and Messi(because it will be said he as a captain left when the whole team needed guidance)
I've never been so bothered abt transfer news like this
what you are expecting is from someone who loves their club or even their country. They don't just work out when the situation isn't right or doesn't suit them.

Imagine referring or comparing him to legends like Totti who stayed no matter what, who at times got bench but remained faithful till the end.

This is not just a rumour oh. From all indications he is hell bent on leaving. Except if it just a grand conspiracy that even Puyol and Man City are a part of.

Like you rightly said, football is business! They have to pay to get him.
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by barackodam: 2:58pm On Aug 26, 2020
According to Alfredo Martínez, Messi's decision to leave Barcelona is irrevocable, it is not a tactic to push out Bartomeu.
Furthermore, even if the president resigns, Messi's decision is final, he does not want to play for FC Barcelona again.

I've tried to avoid responding to most of your posts but it's obvious you'll continue to wallow in what you call "sense" if nobody addresses you.

So, I'll answer you with questions on this one!!

First off, on what grounds do you have the right to compare Messi to Totti?

Was Totti a playmaker, winger, striker, dribbler, midfielder and assist maker (all, at once) in his time?

Did Totti singlehandedly win as much games as Messi did?

Did Totti suffer under the mediocrity of his fellow teammates when it mattered most or during the last years of his career?

Was Roma as established as Barcelona with someone who has tasted absolute supremacy now having to deal with crumbs?

How dare you compare Messi to Totti?

Not all beautiful stories are meant to have a beautiful ending. You have to accept that. Messi will leave the club and the story will be far from beautiful. shocked

with what city are said to offer him, will he stay? If Messi indeed threatened the board them he needs to leave. It means if he doesn't like the next president, off that president goes even if Messi is the one at fault or making a mistake, his word becomes final. What board or manager would feel comfortable doing their job around him. If Messi does stay he should apologize to the board or recant whatever what said he said and show he believes in the board and not act like a god that answers to no one. Would he listen to Koeman, the same player said to have disliked the last manager. If he doesn't like koeman what happens.

Just imagine what a grown ass man is saying especially@the bolded, so if Barcelona doesn't play tiki-taka, the club should be shut down because they can never play another pattern of football and succeed, right? undecided

Your watered-down version of success doesn't hold true for every football fan out there. The reason why Barcelona became great in the first place was the possession-obsessed, free-flowing kind of football called the "tiki taka".
It's why Barça home games are so filled to the brim - fans want to get entertained and not just about the team winning the match, but how they win it.

There's a reason why the Liverpool-Totentham UCL Final was mocked even a year after almost three nights ago during the Bayern-PSG Final:
This final had a lesser scoreline but was fun and everyone wanted it to go on forever.

If you don't understand why tiki taka is unique to Barça's identity, then you are a stowaway on this flight BARCA433 and now you've been found out at this period where we landed to refuel. Now get off this plane as you'd be deported to the Sunderland FC fanbase where you belong!

Currently none that's why the coach was brought in to bring up a good team decent enough to compete. But you didn't even answer my question.Atalanta had a team of nobodies yet they qualified after city in their group, trounced Valencia and were eliminated in the quarter finals only by 2 stoppage time goals. What about rb Leipzig? What about Ajax last season? Which world class superstar did they have? See bro I'm not saying Barcelona won't feel the impact of Messi's loss all round but with a good coach,a better board and some money for transfers. The problems can be reduced gradually.

I honestly wouldn't blame Messi for wanting to leave the club he has played out his heart for. The board has obviously been the worst I have ever seen in recent time. The useless board obviously wasted the genius prime years by their abysmal signings and lackadaisical attitude.

I personally wish and hope the President and his board vacates the seat of power while Messi stays to help groom the team while the club starts planning for a life after the football god as he is being gradually phased out. Messi and probably Pique (with limited role) are the only Players I would like to still have out of the group of the old guys around.

However, should he decide to leave which he is justifiably entitled to, I would love to see him reunite with Pep at City. the genius deserves to enjoy football again before he finally hangs his boot. But, the club will surely miss and suffer the loss for a while and the situation can only be salvaged with a good coach and the right board and not the shameless ones we have around.

Where is Ajax now?

Do you think Atalanta and Liepzig will even quality from the group stages next season?

We are talking about established teams that are consistent for 8 seasons and more you are talking Atalanta.

If Messi leaves Barca will not win la liga until 2025 earliest.

And no hope for UCL until 2035.

Lol...if not for the humiliating defeat from Bayern ..did u think there will be calls to revamp the team
Atalanta had a team of nobodies that were continuously winning matches... Same Ajax, and Leipzig... U know what they all have in common... They are all trying to impress. Thereby not relying on any player to do the magic... But who will Barca rely on when Messi leaves when as at now they are not up to the standard of Atalanta, Ajax, Leipzig

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8665647/amp/Lionel-Messis-95million-year-wages-mean-impossible-PSG-sign-summer.html
Why do you think the Barça management have been hiding the exact details of what Messi earns for over five years now? Players would have probably rioted asking for increases too.
I don't even think 95 million is his full annual wages. There are so many add-ons shrouded in secrecy.

When club officials have been asked about the specifics of Messi' earnings, they suddenly develop amnesia.

I won't be surprised if it's revealed that Barça funds his holidays (like Neymar gets PSG private jet rides benefits).

Messi is the de facto president of Barça. Bartomeu has just been ceremonial.

If Messi leaves, the club would be saved a huge wage bill of almost €100m. It would seem like the club sold a player worth that figure.

God bless you bro.Niggas are just looking at the negatives not knowing that there is a silver lining in every dark cloud.Apart from that teamwork would be more encouraged and utilised.Im very sure that Koeman himself in his mind didn't want Messi anymore even as he was taking the barca job.
