For me its different tactics and strategies, but my preferred one is:

•i see a girl i admire, either on the streets or at a queue (wherever) - I simply approach her politely, initiate a little chat and at the end we exchange contacts. Later I will call, remind her am the guy she met earlier and as they say the rest is history
