Biometrics and upfront Medical done yesterday. Thanks to everyone on this platform who freely gives information. AIP received earlier. I intend to travel with my kids but I have not yet applied for them. What kind of visa am I supposed to apply for, for my children and husband? 2 Likes |

Hi everyone, I have been going through the thread and still trying to catch up, however, I’ll just like to ask my question as I haven’t found anyone in my situation per se. I’m a PR and I want to apply for a student visa for my younger brother (16 years) to come to study here by next year fall(FALL 2021) in Canada in a school that’s in my province. I have seen the requirements and documents I need to provide and I'm fine with that. He’s currently rounding up his WAEC and I know how to go about getting him admission, my concerns are around the visa itself. i'm trying to arm myself with enough information so i'll be prepared when we apply. Here are my questions: 1. The plan is that our dad would be his main sponsor, but I would handle his living and feeding expenses and honestly, if I didn’t read this thread I would have mentioned that, but based on what I’ve read now, I feel like I shouldn’t mention that as it may prove strong ties in Canada and his visa may be denied. Should we just say my dad would be his main sponsor and not mention me as a co-sponsor at all. 2. Does he still need SOP, considering he’s just rounding up secondary school, I noticed there’s still a questionnaire that we would need to fill when applying? 3. Can someone please point me to anyone else that was in this situation and I can read up on that person’s profile. 4. Because he isn’t 18 yet, is there any other thing I’ll have to do or that I might have missed. 5. I’m honestly considering using an agent instead because I have seen a lot of refusals and this study permit is even looking difficult than when I applied for PR. What do you guys think?. 6. Are there any extra documents I should add apart from those that are being asked already, considering he’s just finishing secondary school and has no work experience 7. How do I prove family ties in Nigeria, I’m the only one here(Canada) and our parents and siblings are still in Nigeria. Any ideas on this, please. I know my questions are plenty, but please kindly answer them if you can or point me in the right direction and I can read up. Thanks in advance. |

From all you asked, I can only answer 1 question: DO NOT USE AN AGENT! There is so much information here and so many people who would help you. Go through the thread and you would see a lot of sad stories from people who used agents. RKO1702: |

Frankrobbn1:Tenks @Frankrobbn for yr response. but in my case I intend to travel to Lagos once instead of going twice just to save Tfare & other expenses so as to do both medical & biometrics respectively. |

You are right that there are some good agents. However the comments I see here from people who have used agents aren't so pleasant. Hence my advice: it's his choice at the end of the day. Besides, applying for a study permit becomes easy to do once you go through the thread and it saves funds. Admin9: 1 Like |

Jesusrules24: When I had a similar question, I got this response from the immigration assistant from my school. If your family member(s) will be accompanying you in order to live with you in Canada while you study at the university, they should normally first apply for visitor status. Those aged 14 years or older would need to provide biometric information (fingerprints and photographs). Check if biometrics are required here: http://www.CIC.gc.ca/english/visit/biometrics.asp. In addition, those who have spent six consecutive months or more in a “designated country” during the one year period immediately before the date entering Canada, must take an immigration medical examination. See the list of “designated countries” here: http://www.CIC.gc.ca/english/inFORMation/medical/dcl.asp. Your school-age children (18 years of age or younger) do not require study permits, but study permits rather than visitor records can make the immigration process smoother, especially if your child enters Canada without a parent. |

RKO1702: In response to question 4, I seem to have read somewhere that underaged students need a named guardian where they will be schooling. I think you can come in here as a guardian. @preshy2004 I think is currently processing a visa for her 16 year old. Perhaps she can also weigh in. 1 Like |

Tonyodg: Can I follow up with this? That's if ONLY you know the person OR it happened to you. If this is random stuff you brought from the internet, then it's a brooch with faux. I personally don't believe it, especially first application and the BIOMETRICS IS FULLY PAID. IRCC WOULD NOT REFUSE YOUR APPLICATION WITHOUT YOUR FINGERPRINTS AND PHOTOGRAPH (BIOMETRICS) you can sue IRCC for it. It just doesn't sound right! Unless there's a backstory to this. That's if the person is already in Canada cause they are exempted to provide biometrics due to COVID 19 or some countries that do their biometrics upon arrival in Canada. 2 Likes |

Lekiboboe: Thanks @Lekiboboe, @hollivile, @JustMellow and everyone for the advise. I filled the questionnaire and the required documents spooled out for my profile are; Application for study permit made outside of Canada (IMM1294), Letter of acceptance, International Passport, Proof of funds, Passport Photo, Family Information, Application for a Temporary Resident Visa made outside Canada (IMM5257) and Letter of explanation. There were NO Letter of employment, letter of introduction of employer, payslip, degree cerificate, transcript, nysc cerificate and the others in the required documents to provide. The list looks really weird (quite easy) though, compared to what I was expecting...I hope I am not mixing things up (cause I am wondering why my profile does not require at least my BSc certificate and transcripts)?? |

femzyacess:Hello bro...I am yet to receive the refund of my tuition fees from Fanshewe College. I applied for the refund since January 2020. Wat could be the cause of the delay...? Thank you. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Lekiboboe: 6:08am On Aug 28, 2020 |
Toluchenko:U r welcome Yes IRCC won't tell u to provide that, but note that those are supporting documents(NYSC cert., transcript etc.) , documents that can support your application based on ur status/profile I.E are u a fresh graduate, or av u done NYSC, are u working or not, are u married, u av to show evidence of ur present status... Upload supporting documents that resonates with u |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Lekiboboe: 6:17am On Aug 28, 2020 |
Toluchenko:To ur last two paragraphs, e.g Letter of Employment, NYSC certificate, degree cert. , transcript, Letter Of Explanation (SOP) etc. are meant to be in ur CLIENT INFORMATION (u will merge them all together inside One PDF file and upload to the CLIENT INFORMATION) Anything that involves money/finances e.g pay slip, bank statement, tuition fee receipt etc. are to be uploaded in the PROOF OF MEANS OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT (u will merge them together inside One PDF file aswell and upload to the PROOF OF MEANS Of FINANCIAL SUPPORT) This should walk you through on that Guidelines on how to Merge your documents for CLIENT INFORMATION section & PROOF OF FUNDS SECTION https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/64 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Lekiboboe: 6:35am On Aug 28, 2020 |
Toluchenko:What u got after finishing the Questionnaire is jz a Generic required documents for u to upload, but ur CLIENT INFORMATION needs more than that If u check the meaning of Client Information on IRCC it will tell u that: If you would like to provide more information about your application that you have not already provided, you can attach a letter of explanation, police Certificate, NYSC cert. etc. to your application i.e SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS This link below shows how DOCUMENTS were arranged, merged & Uploaded to CLIENT INFORMATION & PROOF OF MEANS OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT of an Application https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/202#92527802 You will discover that there are lot's of DOCUMENTS IRCC didn't ask for in the documents in the link.above but were merged & uploaded 1 Like |

smsalert1: Gcms note is global case management system.. It gives you a broad view of how your application was or is being handled and gives you an understanding of what's delaying your application, you also get to find out if the visa officer handling your application needs further documents eg updated admission letter etc. 1 Like |
