One of our clients on this platform (Nairaland) we've develop a very good relationship with contacted us to make some furniture for him. We made his kitchen cabinets and wardrobes some four (4) years ago. We also made some other furniture for him about 2 years ago.

We were to make the following:

* 7-seater black sofa with coffee table and stools (mushroom design)
* Dressing table (6 units)
* Beds (6 units)
* 6-seater dinning set.

I will be taking you on a journey of how we got them done and delivered.

First, we had to start with the carving work because that's where the bulk of the work lies.

We got very good hardwoods (mahogany), got them dried and cut them into sizes using bandsaw.

Then carving began in earnest.

I must confess here that our carvers disappointed us a lot of times. Sometimes they didn't show up at work for weeks and that got the job delayed. We however ensured we carry out client along and he was very understanding.

After a long hurdle with the carvers, we eventually began coupling of parts...

Happy new week dear Nairalanders. May peace and good success attain our ways this week in Jesus name.

The various work continues with coupling...

After coupling, we went into sand papering (for carving work, this takes a lot of efforts and man-hour), sand sealing and thereafter apply primer...

Re: From Lagos To Benin (pics) by LebanonCedars2(m): 9:25am On Aug 19, 2020
After we applied the primer, spraying began and upholstery for the sofas....

Glad you are OK sir.
Yes o, very fine. Unfortunately I had to import all my 2 livingrooms and Master Bedrooms furniture from here.
All furnitures for other 6 bedrooms were purchased in Nigeria.
I am still buying other furnitures in Nigeria to complete the project. It's not easy o, too much money on finishings. God help us.

It is in finishings that the money goes to. I normally tell people that na from roofing stage house dey gulp money because you cannot do roofing in stages.
Re: From Lagos To Benin (pics) by LebanonCedars2(m): 9:42am On Aug 26, 2020
We left Lagos around 4:30am and got to Benin late in the evening majorly because of the activities of the Nigerian Police. There was a place we were delayed for 1 hour just because they wanted us to part with 3k. shocked One day, Nigeria will overcome corruption. undecided

We got there and offloaded the furniture...

You're very correct sir. Large chunk of money goes into building from roofing.

Yes it's possible to change to this leather but you have to be sure other parts are very okay and will be able to last as long as the leather. These leathers are very costly and as such you most be sure you will be able to get value for your money.

Yes, they're very much available in Lagos. However, you must know how to be as they don't come in yards as other leathers. You can easily be cheated if care is not taken.
