NAF now has 2 female captain pilots qualified to fly the Beechcraft 350i, 3 of these aircrafts were delivered in 2014 and play a vital role in combating terrorism with their ISR payload.

I don't think so. The last ones were made in '86! I doubt you'd want to risk stressing the fuselage with its full payload of a modest 1.1 T,4X less than the TAV. Also the Bronco frankly is underpowered with its uprated engines maxing out at 1020 shp still way below the TAV at 1070 shp..

https://www.avgeekery.com/the-incredible-ov-10-bronco-kicking-enemy-tail-for-50-years/

http://www.airvectors.net/avbronco.html

https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/a19887/ov-10-war-isis/

Better to pay 12-15 mn$ max for a 12 ship TAV squadron or 144-180 mn$ and wait 6 mos or a year for full delivery.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Do you know how old our Alpha jets are❓ in the first instance, and have you seen how we have done the impossible. We even have found a way to manufacture some component locally.

Age is just a number.

What you will find is that the bloated over fed American probably abandoned them for newer and supposedly better and more modern air frames. Some if the Bronco have less than 500 hours air time on the frame.

That not withstanding if the USAF can deploy them very very recently to great effect on routing ISIS from Mosul. Then they are absolutely good enough for the NAF.

We can get them for peanuts or next to nothing but most importantly HERE and NOW. Not on 6 years time. How long will they last is up to the ingenuity of our NAF maintenance engineers. But I can see life cycle of 10 years easily.

You should not be saying this.

Going back to the analogy of of automobiles. There are cars that are considered dead here and nobody can fix them here. But somehow our guys keep these things moving with ingenuity and they will drive them "No Shaking" Warri yo Lagos over far from the smoothest tarmac roads.

You have lost the context.

The context is best value and most effective use of scarce resources.

If the USAF can deploy the OV10 Bronco to great effect albeit it upgraded in fighting against ISIS in Mosul. Then l would be very happy in procuring 60 of these aircraft for the NAF that could be be acquired for next to nothing.

That would be a complete game changer in the NE.

I could add that Peruvian Airforce have replaced there over priced and expensive A29 Tucano and replaced them with the Korean KAI K1 attack aircraft.

Peru AF is replacing the EMB 312 Tucano aquired 1986 with the KT-1. We are going to get the EMB 314 Super Tucano, they will rise and shine. Coming to cost, please consider that we get a full package including guides bombs, training, spares and ground installation and not just a air-frame in flyaway condition.

Note: OV10 fleet is out of production for decades now, dead and scraped in most part of the world. There would be no spare parts available, how would you maintain it?

Your perception and what you feel is entire your prerogative.

What l said is that this airframe is not on the same quality in any way as the F16. That's a simple truth.

We say where l am from, " Cheap article de spoil belle " Using the analogy of cars from established long-term quality manufacturers. A used Mercedes-Benz will you more long-term reliability and perfomance than a cheap one from Pakistan.

I have noticed the very much older Apha jets joint European manufactured have given us far more reliability and effectiveness than the recently procured and expensive Chinese made F-7 (Mig21)

Now you just said Chinese products are of low quality, then why the constant hammering on Chinese wingloong II?
You keep on stressing on "best value for money" but A29 isn't bad at all. Yes it's expensive, but NAF aren't completely interested in panic buying. In every organisation there's always a long term and short term goal. A29 is part of their long term goal too. I'm sure you know we lack good attack aircraft and we can't keep relying on alpha jets in the next 5-10 years.
Buying 50+ drones does not really make sense when you don't have good aircraft in fleet.

I'm not attacking you about this neither I'm I forcing my opinion on you, but what I'll prefer you do is reduce or limit your criticism on every single thing the armed forces is doing especially purchasing (they're fucking up a lot, but at the same time they're trying even though it's not enough).
Most times your opinions counter each other.

I just want to correct the notion or believe that you can get military hardware at cheap prices almost anywhere in the world.
Note: Nigeria does not buy from military contractors but rather engage in direct purchase country - country.
1. Now when a country is buying military hardware from another country, it's a whole different thing entirely because there's no room for corrupt government but mostly military officials to sale under the radar at that cheap price.
2. Bureaucracy: I'm sure you also know Nigeria does not have allies or enemies in global politics and prefer to maintain a neutral stand at all times. Now having a natural stand can have a negative effect coz these guys don't see any reason or treaty to compel them to give you weapons in fact we don't have military partners until of recent when NAF partnered with Pakistan.
Just coz I'm not using something does not mean I have to someone just coz they said they need it.
It'll be difficult for any NATO country to give us free weapons they're not using just coz we asked for it.
In eastern bloc, most sale of weapons are done through backdoor channels and Nigeria isn't doing that now so getting "cheap weapons" isn't easy and it's always followed by circumstance.
You always talk with authority to an extent I think maybe you're a military contractor too cheesy.
Please if you are, help us. We need you cheesy

The Wing Loong II UAV's are tried, tested and proven over the years in multiple battlefields across the globe.

Add to that the very competitive price of $1million. Compare that to the American uav's.

You present value view not an argument and your approach is based on sentiment not facts.

I have said the A29 Tucano is way over priced and it's stupid and downright ineptitude to be waiting for 6 years for delivery in completion and 3 years for the first aircraft.

I presented an argument with measured factual comparison not emotion.

l do not assume competence by designated title or position. I ascertain competence by actions, delivery outcome past and present antecedents.

To be substantive show intelligence if you like do some open source research. But using assumptive deductions based on perceptive notions birthed from the self is not the best approach.

Considering our present and historical penchant for sharp practices, in the context of Nigeria that's an approach fraught with inconsistencies in the negative.

If you struggle to comprehend my opinion and or deductions then do a bit more study. My opinions converge thereis no divergence into contradiction.

My expectations are not yours and you may be satisfied with the status quo but l am not.

That's UNTRUE I can assure you.

I find in the Nigerian military procurement culture a quest for the best deal for the individual. This is the historic dinosaur that has plagued Nigeria for decades.

I can assure ABSOLUTELY if l was in an official position of authority IT WOULD BE TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

Never said I was comfortable with the status quo, but the fact remains it's better than what it was 5 years ago.
However if I should go on with this discussion presenting you with facts from data in open source, we may have this discussion for days and in the end still not agree with each other. For that reason, I beg to agree to disagree.
Personally, I respect your analytical deductions on some topics and would love to see more wink

2. Noteworthily, NAF 917 flew a total of 8,123hrs from its induction into @NigAirForce in June 1982 - July 2015 (33 years). With today’s milestone, NAF 917 has flown 1,880 hrs in the last 5 years, inclusive of the 9 months it was grounded for in-Country overhaul (PDM) in 2018/19
