Summary Of Humilism, The Religion Of Truth by JideMakinwa(m): 11:14am On Aug 28, 2020 |
One meant for Humilism agrees that humans are ignorant of the world they live in and of the big Mystery of it. Man is in ignorance (rather than man is in sin). They do not know what truly is and what truly is not, how it truly works and how it doesn't work, and especially what the nature and ways of 'God' is. But this ignorance is the natural state of man (and not what humans may be blamed for). Ignorance is not what is wrong, arrogance is. Arrogance is (especially in things pertaining to the Mystery) to believe that IT is this way or that way; that They exist or they do not exist; that this is the truth and this is the false; or this is the way, the only way; or all ways are the way, etc. Arrogance is to know one is right and others are wrong in what they know and experience. In their sincerity to the big picture, one who is meant for Humilism will realize they do not know. This is the beginning of Humilism. Where this sincerity exists, there is no arrogance. It is however not to think one cannot know, but to realize that one does not know at that moment. One meant for Humilism is humbled by that realization that they do not know, and they allow Fear and Wonder to bring them down to their knee. They bow; we bow. (It is still arrogance and carelessness not to accommodate fear in the face of ignorance, and it is close-mindedness not to accommodate wonder in the face of multiplicity and infinite possibilities). Thus humility is the solution to dangerous arrogance of closed knowledge/belief. You are a humilist if you realize ignorance and you bow to the Mystery and wonder at the mysteries. Bow your mind. Bow your being. It is not demanded of you to renounce whatever you already believe, only to see it for what it really is: belief, not necessarily Truth. This is the sincerity of man. Your sincerity helps you know further that you can only bow; humility (and reverence) is all you can have - as you are - towards the Mystery, and it is in fact the summary of all faiths - "revere the Lord". You cannot say this is not it or that is not it. You can only bow, if you are sincere. How to Bow? You will know that in Humilism. You will also know how to live without needing to claim your morals is from God. Humilist morality is based on the realization of ignorance, that what you do cannot really be known to be good or bad in the grand scheme of things. In the absence of knowledge of the grand scheme of things, you focus on the immediate effects on you and others, without tempting yourself to say you are doing good or doing evil. The basic laws are that of conscience, and it is by choice that you do good - and you expect nothing in return. Humilism urges you to do 'good' if you can do it for free (because you want to and are satisfied by doing it) or for reward that you expect to get here on earth. Both selfish 'good' and selfless 'good' are equally good. Do not be good with your mind on any eternal reward. But abstain from evil so you will not become that, for then your redemption will be more difficult and your delusion will be greater. (You do not know that 'good' is good and 'evil' is evil, but that you should do the more difficult if you are to master yourself). Humilism forbids open celebration of sexual relationships, whether homosexual or heterosexual. It neither blesses nor deny any type of union; it is the personal affairs of the people involved. It however forbids that homosexual couples are allowed to adopt and train children who are not made from their own genetic materials only. Humilism does not interfere with suicide (except the person has dependents); that is also a person affair. Humilism promotes the laws of the land, and encourages active participation in society (especially for those who have a child for that society). Those who do not believe in the human race and those who believe this world is coming to an end soon are strictly forbidden from populating the world for those who stand with the human race and who do not believe the world is coming to a fatal end. In fact, whoever believes the human world is doomed yet plans to birth/birth into it are to be prosecuted, and their offspring wiped off. Humilists connect to deeper reality by means of Wonder - art, music, scenes, acts, motions, and other things which have no established meaning to our intellect. Such music do not have lyrics that the humilist knows (the meaning). Such are are not of scenes which are already explained to the mind. These are pure beauties (not polluted by knowledge), representations and connectors to the mysteries and the Mystery. Altruistic (agape) love is one of the ways to 'worship' for the humilist, because it is wonder and mystery, and confounding to the intellect. Humilists are not encouraged to give birth, neither are they discouraged from giving birth. But the morality of those who have caused (birth) another person is stricter than those of the one who has not birth another person. For birthers, the greatness and good of the society (for the child, and the good of the child for the society) is their purpose, and they have no options. They cannot 'mind their business', or pursue private life. The one who has no share in the future (who has not birth) must not be allowed access to some things too, like offices and roles that determine life and death. Humble persons are expected to their their children the truth: that humans are good (only the world makes them bad); our Maker has been since when anything has been and has manifested in our parents (and in us); all humans are siblings, we are made by the same Maker and we pursue the same thing to which we all have rights; being good is the easiest way to what we all want - meaning, happiness, love; we must deal merciless with anyone who tries to work against what all the race want; we must search for knowledge actively, not doing so is the biggest sin. Humilism makes room for higher/deeper life. You can seek your God within Humilism, but you must do so in a certain way. (Seeking what another person has is not the right way to seek; seeking God with any particular Faith in mind is not how to seek, therefore you cannot truly seek God on the suggestion or with the guidance of a person whose God you know). Whoever finds a thing must keep it to themselves, what they have found is their own, not necessarily everyone's. Finally, Humilism forbids Hope. Do not hope that all will be well, or that you are doing the right thing, or you will ascend, or you will descend, or you will be fine. Do not hope, it is false comfort. But be of COURAGE. Do not lose heart; you have been brave enough to admit the truth, be brave enough to walk in it PATIENTLY. And be brave to pursue what knowledge you can acquire to the limits of the universe. Be courageous in the face of your great ignorance and the 'hopelessness' with which you must face it. Do not be tempted to surrender to any other creed out of desperation for the safety of your soul. Do not hope. "Maybe you will ascend, maybe you will descend; maybe you will go forever into the silent nothing; maybe you will be back again to reap or to repeat" (Creed of Humilism 3:0). Bow, live disciplined life, seek knowledge, explore your worlds, and keep the wonder alive.

One of the many questions people who read about Humilism (or Humility) for the first time ask is the meaning of the laws in the Creed of Humilism 3: 3-10. It indeed feels strange to have one's conduct guided by such laws if one doesn't understand and appreciate them. I cannot promise that total justice will be done, but I can supply my understanding of these laws here and now. The Laws: Creed of Humilism 3: 3-10 3 Do not steal/snatch another man’s God 4 Do not tell lies on another man’s God 5 Do not cheat another man’s God 6 Do not kill an innocent God 7 Do not fornicate with the Gods of different men 8 Do not sell or buy another person’s God 9 Do not hold grudges against another man’s God 10 Do not make a God for another person. Do not become a god yourself. Maybe you will ascend, maybe you will descend; maybe you will go forever into the silent nothing; maybe you will be back again to reap or to repeat; maybe you will become a God. These are simple laws if you know what Humilism stems from - the realization that God is a Mystery to me (personalize that). Knowing that God is a Mystery, you do not know that the one whom your neighbor serves is not God. You should therefore not take this God away from them (for example by forcing them to convert to Humilism, among other ways). You are deemed to have told lies on another man's God when you say 'this God did/said this' as though you were witness of that. For example, you cannot say "Jesus walked on water", or "Allah sent a message to Mohammed". Instead, you can only say "the Bible/the Christians say Jesus walked on water", or "The Muslims/Quran says Allah sent a message to Mohammed". Report the matter of the Gods as it is: "the people say...". And do not say 'this God exists' or 'that God does not exist'. Do not cheat a God by going back on promises made. If you promise anyone anything in the name of their God, do not go back on that promise whether you believe in their God or not. Do not promise a God something and go back on it too; if you prayed (and made a promise) by mistake and in desperation, if things come to pass, pay your debt. (This verse is however large in interpretation). Do not kill a God who has done you no wrong, and no God can do you any wrong - only the people can do so in the name of the God. You kill a God when tell lies on them, or exterminate all who believe in them because of that belief and purge their records off the land. You also kill a God when say (to others) that the God does not exist. Resist the urge to do these; deal with people if they cross your line, but not because of their belief. You fornicate with Gods of different men when you massage the egos of different groups, assuring each that their God is true. For example by believing the dangerous creed of tolerance that all men serve the same God. This is fornication with Gods. Do not compare Gods with each other too; consider each God in their own right. Obviously, do not serve more than one God (Humilism is actually not against you serving any God). The law that you should not buy or sell another man's God is deeper in meaning, to me, than the rest. I should say it asks you not to show economic preference to a people/person because of their Faith, and do not use your own Faith as a tool of bargain. This interpretation is one of many other possible ones. It can also mean that you should not trade in significant articles of Faith, for example the rosary, cross, holy books, etc. It can also mean that you should not convert to a Faith because you need economic favor, and you should not entice others with money to your Faith. Grudges can only he held against those who have done you clear evil. So, obviously, you cannot hold grudges against Gods. You can only do that out of self-deceit (that some God did something instead of that someone said some God did something). Do not become a God; you become a God when you are great and faultless in the eyes of others. Really, except you are always playing to the gallery and giving people what they want to have/hear, no one can agree with you in everything (therefore you cannot be their God). You can also become a God when you chose to be with or lead foolish and gullible people, or desperate people (promising somebody heaven at the point of their death is just a no no). So, choose your audience wisely so you do not become a god, for by then power will blind you to the dangers of being seen to be perfectly right and exceedingly great. You also become a God when you do altruistic good, or put the problems of the whole world on your head. The feeling that you know the solution to (all) the world's problems is dangerous. Living entirely for others and being exceedingly good is dangerous; you can feel like a hero whose eternity is assured. Humilism especially warns against dying for others. Do not become too absorbed in the belief that we are meant to live for others. Those are some explanations, they are by no means exhaustive. When you realize God is a Mystery, feel free to knock on our door at the House of Humility. Courage.

Origin and Fate of Man Many people can't seem to find it easy to let down the question of origin and of fate. Where did man come from? Where does a person go after they die? Clear answers to these are some of the things that make a person's religion or philosophy very comforting. It is therefore natural for one interested in Humilism to want to know what Humilism says about origins and fate, and possibly how they compare with other Faiths/Philosophies on the matter. Humilism answers the question of origin the same way it answers a good number of other fundamental questions-: honestly. In honesty, we do not know our origins. Humilism doesn't teach that we are created by anything, as opposed to what people who read the doctrines taught to Children in Humilism think. The erroneous thinking comes from wrongly interpreting what the Creed tells children, that "Our maker manifested in our parents, our maker also manifests in us" to mean we were 'made' by some living agent. That is not what is implied there; in fact, the verse is talking about the force that compels our parents to procreate (to have made us) and the force that pushes us to do the same. But this explanation is not given much, so that people do not imagine wrongly. The Force we talk about here is an ever-acting Force whose nature is one of the Mysteries in Humilism, and you can say Humilism directly calls this force the Creator/Maker of Man. Interpreting it this way is consistent with Humilism's answer to purpose of a person. Every single person has been made by the force that has manifested in their parents to procreate. Any humble person therefore is expected to reckon with this Force (that which did manifest in their parents) as their maker. Parents are your makers; the Force of Procreation is the creator of any human, and this itself is a Mystery. The distinction between Humilism's idea of creator and the corresponding idea in some other philosophies/Faiths is that Maker (of man) in Humilism is not fused with Maker of other things, to form one giant maker. Perhaps, the question of grand maker is asked as "who caused the first force/first manifestation of the force of procreation ?" In Humilism, this is a mystery too. Who made the maker of the maker of........ These are mysteries in Humilism. All that is said is that we are made by the Force of Procreation as manifested by and in our parents. This puts the parents of a parent into the immediate focus, rather than abstracting away the parents and always thinking one has been made by some things one does not know. Summarily for the first question of origin, (and in children language), humans have been made by a force in their parents. The question of Fate: what happens when a person dies? What is the fate of the race too? Humilism doesn't have a destination for a person. Fate is one of the Mysteries recognized in Humilism; it is very well captured in the clause "maybe you will ascend, maybe you will descend; maybe you will go forever into the silent nothing; maybe you will come back to reap or to repeat" that appears in many places in the Creed. Whoever cannot keep a open mind to both first Origin and Fate matters cannot cope with the demands of honesty that defines Humilism, neither can they enjoy the deep wonder and the magic that life is when you stick to honesty in such matters as Origin and Fate. Feel free to knock. |

'Right/Wrong is not the same for everyone'; Morality in Humilism Question: "Mist, I do not really understand the system of morality of Humilism; the Creed prescribes different things in different subchapts for conduct. For example, Chapter 3a: 16 asks one to look away when a person wants to commit suicide, while Chapter 3b:16 asks one to intervene and help them overcome the challenge that makes them want to commit suicide. Is there a contradiction in the Creed?" Answer: The Creed of Humilism doesn't contradict itself on this or in any matters of ethics and morality. The two verses above are in fact talking to different people; Morality in Humilism is not the same for everyone. Basically, there are two kinds of Laws in the Creed: the Laws for the Free and the Laws for the Maker. (A person is a maker if they make a child into the present world). Morality therefore hinges partly on natal status (or natal intentions) to reflect the fundamental difference between one who makes others and one who deliberately withhold from making others - they are not equally responsible. The Laws for the Free demands that a person acts entirely from their personal conscience (the admonition to look away when a person wants to take their life will be explained in another piece). Such person is not under obligation to obey local laws, and should act in accordance with their conscience, putting themselves in the shoes of the others and having self-destroying empathy if they will. For example, it is not wrong for a free person (one who doesn't create others) to allow themselves die when resources get thin so that they leave available resources for others. The Laws for the Makers on the other hand almost uphold social/societal conscience above personal conscience and legality is clearly placed above personal convictions. The Laws of the Society is effectively the moral guide prescribed by Humilism for the one who makes others. Such person is under obligation to obey local laws except they are in the process of changing it. They are expected to work for the greatness of society and the best they can aspire to is the state of a good citizen. This is so so that a maker pays attention to the society they are bringing new souls into, keep active interests in the laws and culture, participates to bring about changes they desires, etc. since it is the world they are bringing/have brought an innocent child/human into. The Laws for the Makers seeks to achieve three things: (1) to make the maker available for the child they made, (2) to make the maker work for the good of the society, and (3) to make the maker work on the child for the good of the society. A maker cannot allow themselves to dies when resources get thin; they cannot look away when a person wants to commit suicide, etc. Dutifulness (responsibility) is the righteousness of a maker. The Creed goes ahead to ask each kind of person to respect their status; a free person is strongly advised not to aspire to high public offices, not because they cannot perform well, but because society is better built by those whose generations will inherit it. Free persons are however able to hold religious offices of any height. The free person has no stake and can easily mess up. The maker is strongly forbidden from locking themselves away from the problems of their societies; even the highest spiritual attainment is a sin for the maker who fails to perform the duties of a citizen. They can however pursue a spiritual/private life as long as they perform public and parental duties. Good is not the same for everyone; for those who create the next generation, the good/greatness of their society is their goal, while for those who do not, clean conscience is their goal. The Creed will guide you better. This is Humilism. Feel free to knock (+234 813 6481 081)/ (thejidemakinwa@gmail.com).

The Step Forward for Truly Smart Atheist - According to Humilism If there are any groups very much admired by Humilies and in Humilism, atheists come really close to the top. For whatever reason you are an atheist, your courage to be odd, in a world where even the most respected folks believe in things they themselves cannot prove without contradicting common sense, is praiseworthy. Especially so is the stance of the atheist who broke out of their childhood indoctrination (to Faith) against the odds. However, this is not to say atheism is right and a stance you should take forever; in fact, atheism is not a camp you should belong to forever. The truly smart atheist moves beyond seeing that belief in the existence of God is nonsense to the biggest truth that their honesty can hold. This Truth is bigger, dear atheist: "God is really a Mystery to you". Beyond the truth of God's existence is the truth that They are a Mystery. Beyond the truth of God not existing is the truth that They are a Mystery. "God is really a Mystery to you" does not imply that God exists or that God does not exist, it only implies that if you bring yourself to the limit of your certainty that a God does not exist, you are left with the uncertainty that the God does not exist. If you are truly smart, you will see that not all believers are not truly dumb, and you cannot explain away their reality by your logic. If you are truly smart, you will readily doubt your own claim too that God does not exist, and see that what is true is this: you really do not see how They exist. "What if God exist, don't you think you will lose it all in the afterlife?" This is powerful and reason-provoking, and can quickly force people to take the Pascal's Wager at the point of desperation. But No, this is not the reason Humilism is the step forward for atheists. Just about anybody can be wrong, and even if God exists and there is an afterlife, the chances that you have jumped into the right Faith by that reasoning is not 100%. The smart atheist instead realizes that while they do see how a God does not exist, it does not translate into fact that that God does not exist; God becomes a Mystery to them, and they enter into Humilism. Is this "step" any different from the pure atheism such person has left behind, that we may call it 'forward step'? Humilism doesn't promise you easy life on earth; it doesn't tell you a great afterlife awaits you. Without guarantee of good life or great afterlife, is it worth it that an atheist leave all they have built around their atheism to become Humble? What do you think? Atheism closes the mind to the possibility of the Divine, and narrows the lens by which the wonders of life may be seen. Like Humilism's Way of Wonder says, "he/she is not shy away from the idea that there is no God, for is there is none, the universe gets the more wonderful in his/her sight in seeming to have a God; he/she does not refute that there is God, for if there is, that God get the more wonderful in seeming not to be". The Humble person finds it wonderful if there is God (and if the God is any of the ones man worship); we also find it wonderful if there is no God. There is deeper appreciation of the experience and the phenomenon of life in Humilism; life is made good by the Wonder. It is very easy for an atheist to get depressed by the absurdity they will be left with in a Godless worldview, the meaninglessness of this all and the vanity of their life; they come to know that life is empty and that it is needless cruelty. This is what pushes many atheists back to Faith - the need to get something to lean on as source of meaning. Humilism on the other hand is continuous wonder; we do not know life so we do not know that it is empty. We only wonder if it is, if it is not. And if you do have a God, as an atheist, you have presented yourself to that God as one who is 'does not want to know that they can be'. As a Humilist however, you have confessed before Them - as the Creed of Humilism says - that: " 22 The strength of my arms cannot break the veil of my eyes, I am nothing but one to whom all of these is an open mystery. One who has not one strand of boldness, and no will whatsoever, to stand in haughty denial of Their existence, if only I know, if there, before me, is the Most High (-the Supreme Power over me-)" "23 I shall not pitch my tent against the Mystery, calling for a show of force, nor display the speed of my craft, nor the destructiveness of my weapons, nor the accuracy of my theories of war, nor the infallibility of my laws of success, nor the high coverage of my spying ears, nor the keenness of my monitoring sight, nor the beauty of my poetic curses, nor the sharpness of my biter, nor the newtons of my fur, nor the penetrating power of a human ray, in aggressive stance to Them who can bend and break my back. I shall not think of any defense for myself if there, before me, is the Most High (-the Supreme Power over me-)" "77 I bow to the Mystery, even that I know I do not close the matter, and the mystery of the mystery, and the mystery of even that; I know my humility does not close it up, but I bow. When my mind is up, the mystery remains; when my mind is bowed, the mystery remains. But I bow" "78 I wonder at the mystery and fear the Mystery, and bow my soul at the magnificent, not because I know, but also because I do not know. I do not know. But I bow." (Creed of Humilism 1: 22-23, 77-78). But only a few will take this step, perhaps because of the pride and ego of being woke and emancipated from the pastime of 'stone age men who did not know how the world worked' and their 'foolish modern-day zombies taking the opium of religion in delusion'. To be honest with you, atheism is honorable, but it is not your destination. Well, it will become your religion if you stay in it; life parked at owner's risk. Feel free to abandon atheism: +234 813 6481 081 / thejidemakinwa@gmail.com |

'God is Missing'; is this Humilism? The concept of a missing God is not part of Humilism. Humilism says 'God is Mystery', and nothing more than that. The concept is thought to be part of Humilism because the Creed talked about such in the Admonitions; however, what the Creed says there is not to the effect that God is missing in the world, but in the mood of a non-morally-motivated person. For example, it talked about the problem that much of what humans can decide as good and right are from humans rather than from a God, and humans who strive to live by such rules may feel that lack of divine origination to the moral rules. To put it simply, this is the problem where you are convinced that a thing is the right thing to do, or a thing is wrong to do, but know that it is not the law of any God, there is no God supporting you in that. This creates frustration in some as they strive to abide by those rights/wrongs and are met by natural/human obstacles, they feel like 'what'st the point'. They get the more frustrated when they see religious people doing what - to the person - is wrong but which is right in the eyes of such (religious) people who also feel God commanded them/back them in that. One example given in the Creed of such situation where one feels the absence of God in one's morals is in veganism. Vegans see it as very wrong to do harm to animals, especially to enslave them to our cooking pots. Whereas many believers of certain Faiths think it is god-given right to do to these animals as it pleases one, and to eat them. Some vegans who are not believers can get frustrated by the fact that their moral lacks the backing of some God, and they just wish there were some God who exists who thinks that way and declare veganism right. Controlled birthing is also one area people may feel God is Missing. A person who controls their birthing for the welfare of the child and other reasons (recognition that they cannot provide for the child) may come to feel there ought to be a more correct God who will mandate that and silence the God of those who think birth control is wrong and that humans should keep birthing without fear of what may become of the children. One can see that 'God is Missing' is a sad feeling that the right God - the God who supports one's moral stance - does not exist, so that God is missing from behind's one's most preferred moral codes. This is especially when that creates the feeling that ethical living based on such moral codes may go to waste if the really wrong God of other people truly exists and is 'the God of everybody'. This is featured in the Creed of Humilism probably because it provides moral codes without claiming they are from any God or that they will please any God, and the recognition of the strength that moral codes have if they are attached to Gods and eternal rewards rather than to any other thing. It is common argument by theists that atheists have no source of objective morality. This is more correctly 'those who do not get their morals from God have no strong roots for their morals'. Even in this form, it is not entirely true. But it does happen: those, such as Humilists, whose morals are not taken directly from any God are prone to lacking motivation to live by such moral codes sometimes. In such moments, you may feel that 'God/authority is missing' in your morals. The Creed also states that this feeling is one of the reasons people abandon reasoning for blind Faith, to feel 'secured' in the hands of 'authority', to feel there is higher support/backing by divine authority for how one lives. It is important to note that the Creed went ahead to prescribe courage, and to correct the wrong idea that such God - who supports what is humanly good - is missing. It also calls on the humble person to meditate on the matter, to go to the basics and foundations, to seek to understand the essence of the rules and the purpose - what it does to their spiritual journey. It advises people in general, both Humilies and nonHumilies, to resist the temptation to jump into a Faith because one feels one lacks divine backing to one's morals or that such morals are watery. Humilism does not claim God is missing, it only claims God is a Mystery. It recognizes the possibility of Humilies feeling discouraged to obey a certain Humilist law because there is not such claim that such law is from a God. The solution is to understand Humilism better, to cultivate courage (which is an important virtue in Humilism), and to realize that the Humilist's God (a God whose morals are reflected in the morals of Humilism) is not missing, They are only a Mystery.
