The USA isn't just satisfied with the standard of our facilities, so they are building something almost to their standard, especially in security, I GUESS that's why they specified , building the base, Nigeria has a lot of foreign built bases and if you go there, you would attest to the quality and planning even decades later

The new Ezugwu looks much better than the very first hideous contraption without windows. Wondered if they were sane releasing it for the public to see. Lol.

Interesting this alliance between Dicon and Innoson. I wish them well.

If Nigeria wants to be serious, I also now want to see an indigenous engine manufacturer. Cummings 6.7l 300hp vs Chinese 615WD must be costing a bulk of the total costs towards building these MRAPS.

And Chassis manufacturers.

That weed is very potent.
Nigeria is getting a upgraded Airfield with a simulator , ammunition storage facilities, hangar facilities ( remember the jaguars?) + extra training facilities how on earth does this transmit to a joint US - Nigeria base ? Recently Nigeria purchased Tanks ( VT-4) Brand new Artillery Systems and Tank Destroyers , because it is nothing that Nigeria has in her inventory , She sent some Tankers to China and it is expected when the Airports open Sept 5, 2020, that Military Personnel from China will be present to show how they work and get the bugs out of these systems does that mean there is a base China- Nigeria base in the making?

KWALARAM AIRSTRIKE: MORE BOKO HARAM/ ISWAP TOP COMMANDERS PERISH AS NIGERIAN MILITARY LEVELS JIHADIST OPERATIONAL CAMP

The Nigerian Air-Force in coordination with the Nigerian Army and the regional Multi-National Joint Task Force successfully launched another devastating intelligence led aerial and ground coordinated operation targeting jihadist of ISIS in West Africa key affiliate – the so-called Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) -- operating predominantly in Northern Nigeria and the fringes of the Lake Chad.

Impeccable sources confirmed that three Nigerian Air Force fighter jets scramble above a location given as Kwalaram Local Government Area (LGA) at local time 1:30pm August 28th 2020. About half a dozen precision bombs hit the jihadist hideout camps in Kwalaram – around the North Eastern Lake Chad axis – an unknown number of high profile fighters and unit commanders have been neutralised. A thorough ground damage assessment is ongoing and updates will be made known.

Earlier ground Intelligence had revealed an anticipated convergence of a substantial number of ISWAP remaining unit commanders at its Markas (Dauala) at Kwalaram. Sources with knowledge of the jihadist modus operandi say the purpose of the rare convergence of ISWAP unit commanders was to brainstorm, plan and coordinate effective battlefield operations against soft civilian and hard military targets – especially Nigerian military and MNJTF contributing troops.

The Leadership of ISWAP had ordered not only unit commanders to take part in this jihadist gathering but also specialist fighters, Naqib, Munzir living in the entire Lake Chad to converge immediately at its Markas (Daula), at KWALARAM. The ‘no choice’ order was prompted following recent devastating defeat suffered by ISWAP as Nigerian military air interdiction bombarded major ISIS camps in Kirta, Sabon Tumbu, Tumbun Gini, Tumbun Allura, Tumbun Doki and other camps around Abadam LGA where hundreds of foreign trained fighters including 15 high profile Boko Haram Commanders were neutralised

3. Similarly, another C-130H, NAF 913, which underwent in-Country PDM in 2019/20, had earlier crossed the 10,000hr mark in March 2020. From March 1975 - July 2015 (40 years) NAF 913 had flown 8,403hrs. However, in just 5 years, July 2015 to August 2020, NAF 913 has flown 1,983hrs

I wonder if these aircraft were in the over indulgent USAF, of they would not be retired by now and getting fed sunshine in Arizona military aircraft cemetery.

NATIONAL SECURITY: CAS INSPECTS FACILITIES AT 107 AIR MARITIME GROUP BENIN, COMMENDS PERSONNEL FOR COMMITMENT TOWARDS ENSURING A SECURED NIGERIA

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar, has commended personnel of the 107 Air Maritime Group (107 AMG) Benin for their contributions in the efforts of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to ensure a secured Nigeria. While making the commendation, the CAS also reiterated that the NAF, working in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, would continue to work round the clock so that Nigerians in every part of the country would be able to pursue their legitimate aspirations without fear. Air Marshal Abubakar made this commitment today, 29 August 2020, while on an operational visit to the 107 AMG to inspect facilities and infrastructure preparatory to the deployment of special mission aircraft to Benin as part of the Federal Government’s Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure aimed at comprehensively tackling insecurity in Nigeria’s territorial waters and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), up to the Gulf of Guinea.

The CAS, who was accompanied by Branch Chiefs, Directors and other senior officers from the NAF Headquarters, was received on arrival in Benin by the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command (AOC TAC), Air Vice Marshal Olusegun Philip. He was subsequently briefed on the activities of the 107 AMG by the Commander, Air Commodore Enebong Effiom, before proceeding to inspect the Aircraft Hangar and Taxiway, proposed site for Aircraft Shelters, Bulk Fuel Installation (BFI) facility as well as existing office and residential accommodations both within and outside the NAF Base, including the ongoing construction of a 30 x one bedroom accommodation for airmen.

In his remarks after the inspection, Air Marshal Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the contributions of the 107 AMG in the NAF’s efforts towards ensuring that Nigeria is secured. He noted that the ATR-42 aircraft, which operates from Benin, had been flying combat support missions all over the Country, including Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna and Niger States, amongst others. “As I speak to you now, the ATR-42 aircraft, NAF 930, is currently conducting missions in the North East of the Country. So clearly your Unit is contributing significantly to what we are doing to ensure that our country is secured and our people can pursue their legitimate aspirations without fear”, the CAS added.

Speaking further, Air Marshal Abubakar revealed that the purpose of his visit was to assess facilities and infrastructure for the imminent deployment of additional air assets to Benin by the Federal Government. “We are here to look at the infrastructure available and also identify gaps”, he said. “The Hangar facility is adequate. However, there will be need for aircraft shelters and some Ground Support Equipment in order to make the deployment possible”, he added. He further noted that many additional pilots, engineers and technicians, who, he said, had already been nominated for conversion training on the new aircraft, as well as force protection elements, comprising NAF Special Forces personnel, would also be deployed to Benin. He observed that additional office and residential accommodation would therefore be required. “Like I said, we have looked at all the infrastructure available, including office and residential accommodation, and we know that there are gaps. We will try to ensure that these gaps are bridged before the special mission aircraft will be deployed here”, he added.

Air Marshal Abubakar again commended the AOC TAC as well as the Commander and all personnel of the 107 AMG for ensuring that the ATR-42 aircraft remains serviceable to continue contributing its quota to the NAF’s operations all over the Country. He urged them to be prepared to provide the same kind of support to the special mission aircraft when it arrives, noting that the aircraft would undoubtedly add value to the security arrangements in Nigeria’s Maritime environment.

Before departing Benin, the CAS held a closed door interactive session with the officers, airmen and airwomen where he entertained questions and also received feedback as well as suggestions from them on how to move the Service forward for more effective and efficient service delivery.

Good. Its better for the NAF to operate the aircrafts because they already have the skill set and personnel. All they need is a conversion trainning and to rate the pilots & technicians on the specific aircraft.

But the aircraft flies maritime missions for Nimasa and the Navy.

This arrangement is better than for the Navy or Nimasa to train their own pilots, engineers and build airbases.

I was thinking the same. The C130s and Alpha jets are the most durable aircrafts in our inventry and they are still going strong.

In contrast, see the Aradu, compared with the older Thunder. Smh

CIVIL-MILITARY RELATIONS: NAF AIRLIFTS ERSTWHILE CONJOINED TWINS BACK TO YENAGOA AFTER SUCCESSFUL SEPARATION SURGERY AT FMC YOLA

In fulfillment of the promise made on 2 January 2020, when they were airlifted from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to Yola in Adamawa State, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 29 August 2020, airlifted previously conjoined twins, Mercy and Grace Aeiygbenmi, along with their parents and medical team back to Yenagoa after a successful separation surgery at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yola. The twins and their parents arrived the Bayelsa International Airport in company of the NAF Chief of Medical Services (CMS), Air Commodore Gideon Bako, onboard a NAF Beechcraft KingAir 350i aircraft. They were received on arrival by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, as well as other members of the Bayelsa State Executive Council and the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the FMC Yenagoa, Dr Dennis Allagoa, who all expressed their appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and the entire NAF family for the humanitarian airlift as well as the support provided throughout the process. The parents of the twins similarly expressed gratitude to all those who played various roles in the successful separation of the twins, including the medical teams at the FMCs in Yenagoa and Yola as well as the NAF personnel who participated in the airlift.

A Press Conference was held earlier in Yola, before their departure, to announce the successful separation of the twins. During the elaborate but COVID-19 compliant ceremony, which had the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Barrister Boss Mustapha, as Special Guest of Honour, as well as the representatives of the Adamawa State Governor and the Honourable Minister of Health, amongst many other dignitaries, in attendance, the CMD of FMC Yola, Professor Awul Abubakar, gave highlights of the key aspects of the process. He noted that the successful separation of the twins, who were discovered to be joined at the abdomen when they were born on 1 December 2019, was as a result of collective efforts of medical professionals as well as support received from various quarters, including the NAF. He lauded the trust and patience shown by the Aeiygbenmis throughout the process, which, he said, contributed to the success achieved.

In his remarks at the event, the CAS, who was represented by the CMS, emphasized that the NAF would sustain its numerous humanitarian relief operations, including medical outreaches, to alleviate the sufferings of victims of insurgency, banditry and natural disasters, like floods. He noted that the Service had, through such initiatives, provided free medical services to over 400,000 people across the Country, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North East. He equally disclosed that the NAF had established Level 2 Hospitals at the Bama and Dalori IPD Camps in Borno State, where it has also been providing feeding for over 1,000 school children as well as “Dignity Packs”, containing a complete package of sanitary items, for young girls.

Speaking further, the CAS noted that the NAF had also recently distributed palliatives to the poor and vulnerable members of its host communities to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic, whilst also continuing to support the Federal Government’s COVID-19 response through airlift operations, provision of liquid oxygen, as well as the provision of its medical facilities for use as isolation centres. According to him, “the NAF also conducted missions to distribute life-saving medical supplies and equipment to various parts of the Country, in addition to airlifting West African Health Organization (WAHO)-donated COVID-19 medical supplies to 13 West African countries using NAF C-130H aircraft. Besides the delivery of supplies, the NAF also continues to play vital roles in the movement of critically injured individuals and patients requiring urgent medical attention to appropriate destinations”. He noted that the airlift of the Aeiygbenmi twins was one of such gratifying humanitarian airlifts. “It is heartwarming to see the girls enjoying life as independent individuals”, he added.
