Advice needed please.

modified.
After reading through comments, i must confess that i've learnt a lot from u guys and i appreciate ur concerns.

I actually do read law related books due to my closeness with my judge and she takes me like her son and do give me her books to read during my spare time.

I will settle for law due to it merits.

Hopefully i gain admission next yr or i will use direct entry.

Special mentions to: Lifestone, Judolisco, MasterRahl, Elsueno, Iyke926, Ashawopikin, Mires, Phoenix616, Sophy17, Mozele, Baba1234, Espn, Francisayo, Coldie, the mod that push this thread to fp and other awesome nlanders. I love u guys.

Civil service requires FSLC and WAEC for grade level 1-4, you write Nabteb to upgrade to level 6, then when you gain admission into the state uni your grade will climb to 8.

I have ND but they don't want it.

Currently i am in level 6 and i want to sit for jamb nxt yr.

No be by force...If you try to convince them but they insist...Dont hesitate to change it for them in a respectful way. Hold your ground bro. That's how they will force people to do what they dont want. Whatever decision you make you will bear the cross.
If I had followed my dream or passion God knows where I will be today if I had support. Nigerian parents with very strict, old and aggressive mentality. I wanted to study political science but ended up studying economics. I engaged in sporting activities Athletics, football they dulled my spirit. I purchased form for acting at PEFTI they still dulled me.i started my record label they no support me until they saw my labels music been played on dstv.

If they will be the doing the sponsoring and you know that will not be easy to convince then DECEIVE them (if possible)

Tell them that you have heard.
That you will study what they want.
Buy the JAMB form.
Pick wetin hungry YOU study.
Keep smiling and lying to them that you have picked LAW.
Enter school.
Let them think it is still law so their funds go fit still dey reach your hand.
Graduate and go about your HAPPY life.

I see no problem here..
Study Law,graduate and fail at the career so your family will realize they made a mistake.
Then you can start smoking weed out of frustration, maybe join a cult too.
In other words,become very useless.
They will realize their mistake.

You're working as a civil servant at the State's High Court. Lawyers are legal professionals. The judge or judges are legal professionals. Your family wants you to be a professional in your workplace, and not just an ordinary employee. They want you to be recognized. Don't be content being an ordinary salary earner. Strive to grow. And for the love of Christ, forget that crap called passion. It is used by motivational speakers to confuse a lot of people. Following your passion doesn't put food on your table. Following WHAT WORKS puts food on your table.

Imagine working in a hospital setting. Only the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and physiotherapists are known. The rest are ordinary and considered irrelevant. YOUR FAMILY WANTS YOU TO BE RELEVANT AT YOUR WORKPLACE. STRIVE TO BE RELEVANT, unless you're just there for the salary (which is why many civil servants don't progress anyway).

We youths always think we know better, but the truth is, WE KNOW NOTHING.

It's a free world, but think and think and think before countering the decisions or advise of your elders.

Between, have they volunteered to sponsor you?

Verdict:Sorry bro no way out here, it's either you study law or you study law..

Here is what some people did in my time, you will study their law till 400l then take jamb for your Economic and statistics, if you get lucky you will be in finals in law and 100 in the other course.. Once you Done with your law, take the result to your dad and a photocopy to your aunt. Walk away and continue the course you got passion for.

Go for economics. Add some data science skills to it. It's a beautiful career line. Politely sell your dreams to them

It will be very lovely if u take the advice, to study law and after u study further economics...I think there are post-graduate courses which are law- economic related...in that way u kill two birds with one stone...listen to them ....there are times people see some potential in you that u don't see...they believe u can thrive in law effortlessly, while u believe u can thrive in economics effortlessly....do the two my friend ...don't be lazy... u'll make a great economist if u listen to this.

At this age and time with the benefit of information technology one is been forced to do that which isn't his will. I am actually befuddled to say the least. It's very important you hold your ground

You are going to logically highlight your reasons why you do not wish to follow the prescribed way and why you intend to pursue your own path.

Be respectful and tactful but hold your ground

I pray it won't affect ur destiny as it always ended whenever parents impose certain course on children.

I will advice you to stand ur ground and study course you love,

One particular course doesnt guarantee how tomorrow will look like, in fact education has little to offer in term of prosperity.

I have friends that are medical doctors and yet no good job and they are just average man like me.

Its destiny and if opportunity present itself that can make one succeed in life
