OBJ was confident enough to hand over to a South Southerner (and why not an Easterner if in pole position?) and the people of South West were also confident enough to vote for GEJ in 2011, to win the election.
The sure way to achieve the Eastern mandate is to align and strike a deal with the South West to go first and then the South west, noted for "demonstrated reliability in keeping to agreements", will handover to them after their tenure.

They know Kalu stands no chance to defeat Atiku in the North, by that, power will remain in the North.
