September is the ninth month of the year in the modern-day calendar. But the month retained its original name from the Roman calendar which, had it as the seventh month.

Septem means “seven” in Latin. The Romans named this month September during a time when the calendar year began with March.

After January and February were added to the calendar, it eventually became the ninth month and was shortened to 29 days.

Meanwhile, authorities in Nigeria have announced that a few things will occur in the country this September. Some of these things may have a profound effect on citizens. Here are just three of them:
