Heart of a normal man is pure and innate at birth. He comes to the world and start learning different things, behavioral pattern, how to speak, how to do basic things. His environment plays a role in what he becomes.

I said heart of a normal man , I didn't say heart of an Igbo, their hearts are pre-configured to dupe, extort, trick their unsuspecting victims at birth. It is this dirt that they carry all around and they start dispersing to different geographical location, mixing and mingling with the locals, corrupting them in the process.

This pattern can be likened to the plague the world is facing now, COVID-19, you know the story of where it started, it was not contained within the demographic space it was discovered, and boom! It becomes a pandemic. Igbos are like that virus corrupting other tribes wherever they go.

Stop quoting me kid, you can't have your way...

For those igbos quoting me and hurling insults at me for this post, I hope you are taking from your own pills now. I'm by no means a bigot who will go that low to post such, bad-mouthing another tribe, that's utter tribalism, more like racism we all condemn as blacks, I won't do that.

But I won't go without letting you know that what I did was just a reprisal attacks on igbos who quickly jump at any thread that involves tribe and start insulting other tribes, go to east and start listening to their radio stations, they make no reservation for Hausa/Fulani group, the hatred is so intense that they can allow a six-year old to come online and begin to boldly insult this group. You can see how it feels to insult other tribes at least. I achieved what I wanted to achieve, that post up there was like a dagger driven into some people's hearts, I received close to 30 mentions on the post alone.

I will be going low-key for a couple of days, got a project from a client yesterday, I'm a f**cking programmer. I just had that little time yesterday and thought of the change I could make, thence that controversial post that sparked outrage. At times, two wrongs could make a right.

I don't know about igbo or hausa or yoruba man, I only know a Nigeria man.

This one is medicine after death. As far as there are no punitive measures in place to deal with those dubious miscreants in that market. My best advice is for a new person is to stay away.

Don't attempt to buy Electronics as a new person in the market. You're better off buying from Lawanson or any other market.

I lost #60k in that market. And I swore never to step into that market.

And this is not about tribe. The main guy that scammed me was Haruna then supported by my Igbo brothers. I see it as the culture of the market. The tales from first timers experience in that market has always been horrible. And don't try to blame it on the guys doing osoafia. They are in Idumota and Balogun too. In fact I use them alot. They earn commissions from the stores and each time I make use of any of them I still tip them because they save me alot of time especially when I'm looking for a particular design of wears.

Like I said earlier, fraud is the culture they have adopted in Alaba market as a virtue.

If you have never been to Alaba before to buy Electronics better stay away. You're 99.99% likely to be scammed. So why take that chance?

The same receipt has always been used. Divine Grace Investment. My friend has bought used electronics from Lawanson and got home it didn't work as expected and she returned it and collected her money in full no dragging. But in Alaba, the money you just paid now now, see me see you I haven't touched your electronics is none refundable. Anybody calling that a business is a criminal.

My own receipt bears DIVINE FAVOUR INVESTMENT.The guy I sent lives around ALABA INTERNATIONAL MARKET but not really experienced on their fraudulent activities. He actually bought from a shop and paid to the shop owner before their gang members attacked him after he notice that the TV he negotiated for is different from what he is being given. They claimed he negotiated for non-tested.When the guy protested, they fought him and enforced a receipt without number, phone number etc on him.Luckily,he had collected the phone number of the the man he paid to before the other of his members came in.I still have the receipt and the phone number of the main man that collected the money. This incident happened before the COVID 19 lockdown and we have been calling the number but always switched off.Not until yesterday, when someone complained on nairaland and I said let me try the number again, the guy picked. He claimed he has forgotten, that we should come to the market but later on,he started ranting that what can we do sef. The management of this market needs to look into the activities of these fraudsters

A den of criminals and I mean it. There is no way to sugarcoat it. Anything you are buying in that place is at your own RISK!
I am talking from experience. The FEW good traders in that place are an exception and not the rule.

There are sections that specialise in movie PIRACY with active support of the Unions the OP is parroting here. I have been in that market and witnessed a machine mass producing/pirating CDs,DVDs and VCDs at an alarming rate. Will the OP tell me that the so called unions are not aware of this daily crime going on in that place.

There are sections that specialise in inserting fake China engines into Samsung,Panasonic, Toshiba and other major electronics and passing them off as the original product.
There are cheap China generators embossed with trademarks of original Yamaha generators and passed off as originals.
How many activities can one list here. That market is just a sick horrible place to try and transact business.
Caveat emptor ~Enter at your own risk!

You have said it all bro ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK

Is that gbo plaza

You can imagine buying something from a lockup shop and being issued DIVINE FAVOUR INVESTMENT receipt with no phone number,no receipt number but office GBO. This is after you noticed that they have scammed you and trying to get justice. They swapped a tested working ok TV for a scrap samsung monitor with broken screen just because the buyer is an inexperienced, calm and gentle guy. They took advantage of that. This did not happen by the road side. This happened in a shop.Does it mean that some shops there are meant for such fraudulent activities and the management of this market does not know?

Year 2002, I went to Alaba with my late cousin who repairs radio, TV etc. We moved round the electronic shops looking for Aiwa deck(3 CD loader) fortunately who saw one got it tested with the 2 speakers and I love the sound, before the payment was made, I took hold of the speakers while my cousin carried the engine, then the guy(seller) wrote the receipt and I gave him money, on our way out of the seller's shop me and my cousin got surrounded by about 4 guys including the seller, we asked them what was the problem, to my greatest shock we were told the 12k was only for the engine and we have to pay for the two speakers, so I told the guy to return my money, he refused, after much shouting and displaying of madness, the place was tensed up, we gave them the 2 speakers due to our safety and I vowed never to buy anything or step my feet there (Alaba Int'l) again. Luckily for me I got a good speaker better than the follow come at a warehouse along Akowonjo road, Egbeda for 3.5k
My submission is save your self the stress of going to Alaba for your electronics by purchasing online or at any electronics show rooms around your area.

You can see, this happened in 2002 and we are in 2020 and such is still happening.I believe other neighboring countries come to shop in this same market. It could be that some of them in one way or the other have been scammed as well.We need to find a way to get this to other social media platforms for people to learn their lessons. The management of this market MUST sit up and do the needful. A trader in this same market once confiscated my phone because he felt I wasted his time bargaining for his wares.

Brother thanks for your concern.I live far from ALABA INTERNATIONAL and I am only free on weekends and that is the reason why I sent a friend that lives around there to help me to purchase the TV.Presently, markets don t open on Saturdays but I am trying to sacrifice one Friday for this guy but I need Soldiers like 3 because this guy needs to take back what he did to my friend. They beat up my friend simply because he requested for a refund since what they bargained for is not what is being given to him.If you have got some soldiers,I ll appreciate that gesture.

I will start by quoting Edmund Burke where he stated “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Yesterday after a busy day at work I was just on my stroll on nairaland front-page when a particular topic caught my attention I carefully read all the comments and I think it's necessary to create this topic to correct notions identify many issues concerning the market and business related activities and set the record straight.

Alaba international market is a very big market(biggest electronics market in west-africa) even though we have the electrical section, industrial section, fancy and furniture section that is categorised , each of this section of the market have their union leader with a task force set up in over seeing the day to day activities of the Market. The electronics section is splitted into two the IMAE( You get most of the new electronics here and also tokunbo though not major) and is headed by the able leadership of Evangelist Paulinus Ugochukwu( MD sound prince company limited) then the St Peter's axis this where you get most of your tokunbo items.

As a first timer at Alaba you will be approached by a lot of osoafia hustlers some are genuine(looking for their daily bread and hustling to better their lives) while most of them are there to rip you off without conscience now most times they work on your greed, someone will approach you to tell you he will give you a Samsung 32" LED TV for 15k and so many outrageous prices like that if you fall for this first and cheap scam then you are your way to come create more topics about how you were scammed at Alaba.

These scammers and fraudsters have their rings and are connected it's likely you don't escape their bitter pill when you fall in the hand of one of them the best to do is to be wary of their subtle devices. It's worthy to also note that these set of people are both Yoruba and Igbos because it was terribly seeing so many people playing the tribal game and associating a particular tribe to the cheap scam that happens daily, the Yoruba osoafia guy will approach you and poison your mind on why you shouldn't patronise a Igbo guy and with trust you believe him the same thing an Igbo guy will do too(note that are all same ring both the Yoruba and Igbos) their major aim is to rip you off.

I stated earlier that there are task force that handles all the issues concerning each section of the market the main thing is identifying the section you transacted from and go and report immediately , identify the task force chairman it will be easier solving your case.

There are alot of genuine and hardworking traders in the market the same way you can't Cross out the bad guys in such a big market like that(they always have their way round) the only thing is making sure you are observant and detect any shady deals before paying for an item, read the receipt issued to you before signing.

And lastly that an item is tokunbo doesn't mean it should go for an outrageous pricing unless you are buying non tested, some particular item in tokunbo are costlier then the new ones (depending on the country of import and manufacturer).

A submission from a trader at Alaba int'l market Ojo Lagos

Your thread is coming from the heart of genuine trader. However, the image of that market is getting battered. The reality is that shop owners connive with criminals to defraud people. And it seems this act has being on for a long time (most people just keep quiet). Now that the internet is getting involved, it effects will begin to show in a couple of years to come.

I read the second thread the guy made about how he got a refund. I was appalled. 1. He didn't get a refund. He had to add money to get another electronic. 2. It's obvious that that evil act was carried out by a shop owner, yet not known sanction or outright eviction. It tells me something that the market management, condones these acts in some respect.

As I am planning to secure some industrial machine (of course, e go dey hard b4 u dupe me. Especially on things like industrial machines) next year, I have already rule out going near the periphery of Alaba. because when store owners and management 9f a market are showing signs of complicity, your best bet is to avoid such place like a plague. Imagine me getting defrauded to buy something I got loan for!

Finally, it's better the management start taking hard and decisive action. They may feel Alaba is too big to be affected, but ordinary boil left untreated could lead to the death of a whole animal.

the management do know those shop that carries out such fraudulent activity, most people familier with the market environment also know this, while it is very wrong decieving the customers and not leting them know from onset what they are buying, those that patronize them also have their own share of the blame.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I'll ask anyways. In terms of electronics, when buying for personal use, is it cheaper to buy from online stores like amazon and co or it's cheaper to buy in Nigeria?

Thanks
