I recall that during Jonathan's rule, when the fuel price was increased, people protested on the streets and even burnt tyres on the roads. These persons were mostly the Northerns (who burnt tyres on the roads) from my location at the time. Fuel price has increased to NGN159/160 per litre but they are not protesting. All they do is to complain bitterly. Nigeria has never had it this bad under democratic settings. 4 Likes |

NaMe4: Makes me wonder if we are still under a democratic setting. It is bad that the government of the day uses the law enforcement agencies who are supposed to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians and foreigners alike in the country, to threaten and muzzle up persons who dare to speak against the inaction of the government. 2 Likes |

amc: All these are political skirmishes, non involved forced arresting or detention. But do you know that in the current administration, The masses are the ones suffering, the masses can't protest easily, you can't criticize the government openly without paying fine or detention Yet there is still more of the political skirmishes, which you posted. Stop deceiving urself. |

[quote author=Cantonese post=93573720] [s]*GOODLUCK JONATHAN.... PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS* Go and find out how much crude oil was selling during the Jonathan era and how much it is selling for now. He was there for 6 years, he couldn't fix the refineries in Nigeria. It was during his era that his petroleum minister, Diezani Madueke told Nigerians that we had no choice but to keep importing oil for the next 20 or so years. [s]GEJ needs to explain to Nigerians how he managed to swallow our insults, criticism and protests without using the military and DSS to hunt us down.[/s] He did not. Jonathan's human rights abuses were just as bad and poignant as Buhari's own. Recently he had the DSS arrest a boy because he opened a parody account of Jonathan. [s]GEJ needs to explain to Nigerians how he managed to handle our group protests and yearnings without calling us terrorists. [/s] Those who aren't part of this collective amnesia will testify to the intolerance of Jonathan for opposition voices. He locked the gates of the national Assembly, prevented opposition party from going for their annual meeting etc [s]GEJ needs to explain to Nigerians how he managed to control our borders and yet a bag of rice was sold for 8k.[/s] He didn't control our borders. It was during his time that Nigerians w ere forced to eat plastic rice from China. [s]GEJ needs to explain to Nigerians how he managed to build 17 federal universities in 17 states in Nigeria.[/s] Laughable. Glorified primary schools you mean? [s]GEJ needs to explain to Nigerians how he managed to build almajiri schools in all the Northern Local governments.[/s] Lies! He did not build Almajiri schools in all the Northern local governments. The ones he did what has become of them? [s]GEJ needs to explain to Nigerians how he managed to hold $1=#165 for 4yrs.[/s] When he entered as president, the dollar was sold at #155.00 when he left, the dollar was sold at over #350.00 [s]GEJ needs to explain to Nigerians how he managed to push Nigeria's economy to be number 1 in Africa.[/s] Lol. He didn't push Nigeria's economy to number one. They only did a recalibration. Nigeria had a forex crisis as Jonathan was leaving the presidency because of his profligacy. [s]GEJ needs to explain to Nigerians how he fought Ebola without closing Schools, Banks, Courts, Mosques, Churches and banning weddings/gatherings... And without foreign intervention..[/s] He didn't fight Ebola. Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh and the beautiful nurse from the SE fought Ebola to a standstill, sacrificing their own lives for us. GEJ did not acknowledge their sacrifice probably because he was too drunk to even notice. *_GEJ, we need answers Please!._* Absolutely, GEJ, we need answers for the many atrocities you committed while in office. You are lucky that most Nigerians suffer from collective amnesia, probably due to hunger or something...otherwise a human being won't open this kind of thread attempting to glorify a principal participant and beneficiary of massive lootocracy. 1 Like

For those born yesterday. The Defense Headquarters and the State Security Service on Friday morning seized and destroyed major Nigerian newspapers in an action reminiscent of military dictatorship in the country.http://www.punchng.com/news/military-sss-seize-destroy-major-nigerian-newspapers/ This was further confirmed by Reporters without borders and Premium Time. The confiscations began early on 6 June when members of the security services and armed forces moved in on distributors and sellers in Nigeria’s main distribution points – Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Jos, Maiduguri and Ibadan – seizing copies of The Punch, Vanguard, The Nation, Leadership and other newspapers. Copies were also seized at Lagos international airport and in the Port Harcourt region. http://en.rsf.org/nigeria-army-seizes-newspaper-issues-day-11-06-2014,46418.html http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/162255-nigerian-military-goes-berserk-blocks-newspapers-distribution-abuja-lagos.html In October, 2011, 6 journalist from the Nations Newspaper were also not spared the high handedness of the GEJ administration when they suddenly found themselves in police net for doing their job. Six journalists arrested in Nigeria over presidential letter http://mg.co.za/article/2011-10-12-six-journalists-arrested-in-nigeria-over-presidential-letter If you thought these situations were one off, then that of April 2013 will shock you. 2 journalist were arrested for voicing an opinion different from that of the president Jonathan. Two Nigerian reporters have been detained after publishing an article critical of President Goodluck Jonathan. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/africa/nigeria/130409/nigeria-journalists-detained-after-story-president-goodl |
