An old friend just got deported from the U.K, advice is needed on how to start a new life here.
He is frustrated, angry and desperate.

overstaying most likely. Majority of Nigerians use visitors visa to flee. Police may stop and ask for id card, or someone where you live did something and they come look for him and see you there also. @op tell him to calm down. He is not the first to be deported. Just needs to plan and pray he can get support to get something doing.

Deportation from an organized country into a country like Nigeria is a hard pill to swallow. But there's still hope for the living. So, tell your friend to calm down, enjoy the moment however bad it appears, and come up with plans for his next move. Good luck to him.

If he stayed long, he should make use of the educative societal pattern, modern inventions, innovative ideas, creativity and skills, widal knowledge, social exposure, technical/electronical system of networking, systematic template of modern advancement, mental strength, and visual display of confidence he acquired to his own advantage here..

-Except he stayed aimlessly, a huge stumbling block and might be the reason he's frustrated and confused. If not, he can build his own UK empire here. Not compulsory he stays there..

He should have saved up some money to Learn a
HOT Skilll and Trade, they both must be complimentary so he can make money on both ends.

He'd be better off in 3 years with the right knowledge, contacts and use of social media.

He should not get frustrated...... The contacts he built, whilst he was in the uk..... He should leverage on that, come up with honest business ideas/proposals and sell the idea to his people abroad (crowdfund) ......

Did he not save any money?......

Police Officers in the UK do not normally pick up overstayers or illegal immigrants in homes or on the street, except the person commits a crime or is on a crime scene. Even at that, they will only collect the details of the person. The Police officers will only check the person's name on the Crime database smiley smiley smiley. Police officers in the UK will not also stop you on the street and ask for your ID Card. They do their job properly and they are looking for Criminals 98% of the time, not people with unfortunate immigration problems or status. This dude might have been arrested by Immigration officers at work or when he went to report at a Immigration Center. Like you said, many Nigerians have been deported in the past and some of them are now doing well for themselves in Nigeria or they traveled to other countries later. Cheers.

He/she needs to relocate to another state and start afresh with the little change with him/her. It is a matter of time he/she will get over it.
