Nursing

A universal discipline unlike pharmacy whose Nigerian certificate won’t allow you to make professional practice in correct countries.

To practise as a pharmacist in UK, one will need a year course to convert one’s certificate known as OSPAP diploma certificate before the professional exam. Unlike nursing which one can even use Nigeria diploma in nursing to write the CBT

Speak of what you are sure about.

So if you study nursing you can just go abroad without obtaining the country's license and writing an exam?
Smh.

More than half of those who'll comment here are ignorant about the two professions.

Stick to which you are comfortable with.
Am a pharmacy student and can practice in any country when am through. All it requires is obtaining the said country's license through series of exams.

So Ignore those talking about which is more useful abroad and all.

You just go back, look at the two courses and make a decision. If you don't like chemistry avoid pharmacy.

What is this one saying?

Do you need further academic certificate to practise as a nurse in UK or US after passing the license exam?

Read before commenting.
And stop making ignorant comments.
Nursing is more universal than pharmacy
It's better to be quiet than make funny comments.

The same way a nurse go through nursing board of a particular country and write their licensing exam is the same way a pharmacist also go through the pharmacy board of any country.

Yes.
Make research before commenting.
That the pharmD is the new standard doesn't make the b.pharm useless.
After the evaluation of my b.pharm I can write the Fgpec then the Naplex exam.

I’m here to clarify the pharmacy comments. In some countries pharmacy(like medicine) is not offered at B.Sc level. You read a normal course for three years and then master in pharmacy for two( same thing). So if you go to those countries with your B.pharm, it will be treated like a normal B.Sc and you’ll still have to do two years masters. In order to practice. I think if you do pharm D in Nigeria then you’ll be able to practice anywhere with just licensing exam. Quote me for clarification or corrections

As a guy go for nursing, did you know there are specialized nurses that take care of only breasts?

Am done talking to someone who doesn't just know what she's talking about.

Op make your choice and don't allow ppl who are neither pharmacist not nurses make decisions for you.

I have senior colleagues who left Nigeria and practicing in the US ,Canada and UK. So ignore those using degree to travel overseas as a yard stick.

IF you have PLANS of Leaving NIGERIA then quickly go for NURSING and do it without looking back, so that you don't turn into a pillar of salt.
However, if you have plans of remaining in Nigeria forever....
Please go for PHARMACY...
I have said my own..
Questions can now be entertained..

all I can say is that we shouldn't use the excuse of going abroad to deceive the innocent op. she should go for nursing if she loves taking care of people and seeing people recover. she should go for pharmacy if she loves outreach and answering to people's needs on time. i rather be a pharmacist than be a nurse because I will be very sound in drugs. medicine is for the prestige and nothing more. how much do nurses earn when they work with government 120k at most and 300k. If you work for like 20years. what is the need of me studying a course if I can't use it in Nigeria. Nigeria has a lot of brain drain in pharmacy. ineptitude of hospitals in purchasing facilities. I won't advice any pharmacist to work in hospitals. The richest health professionals in the world own pharmaceutical industries and make a lot of dollars. Red Rock can't match that. As a young pharmacist you make money early live a balanced life and not always on calls. how much does an intern doctor earn 120k. at most 150k. before you can make 300k and above, it is either you are a consultant 0or work in a multinational company. This means you must have worked for at least 5 years after internship. now calculate this 7 years course plus internship and at least 5years residency making it 13 years excluding strike some time even fifteen years and what about entering a residency another problem. sorry for drifting go for nursing or for pharmacy. you don't really need residency for pharmacy but you need guidance. There other courses like optometry and dentistry and many more. I know all of these because I have friends in the health sector

Nursing gives you more choices and freedom.

You can open a chemist shop and you are more knowledgeable to give injections, do first aid there where's a pharmacist is limited.

Medicine business is lucrative o. Some malaria drugs sell at up to #500 profit per one. Not to talk of other drugs.

An average chemist shop makes #10000 profit daily or more.

#10 000 × 25 = #250 000 monthly - #100 000 on expenses = #150 000.

Don't shout o.

I've never regretted studying Pharmacy.
Pharmacy, any day anytime
-------------------------
•As a Pharmacist l, you have more control and freedom over your time and schedules.
•There is diversification in areas of practice, you have more options other than just hospital (hospital, community, industry, administrative, academia etc)
•No matter your area of practice you still command respect and nobility.
•More remuneration (Pharmacists receive larger pay even though their work schedules is not as much as that of nurses)
•Studying pharmacy gives you versatility that's quite unmatched
•You can own a Private Pharmacy despite working with the government.
•You can choose to allow your license to be use to register a Pharmacy where there is shortage of pharmacies and you'll be paid annually in six or sevmn figures.
The benefits are just too many...
But in the end, look for fulfilment in whichever you choose.

There's no need including medicine in your discussion, it's unrelated to the topic.

Pharmacy is (Pharmacists make more) in North America, and it's also less stressful.

You gotta love your job first and foremost, so don't choose because of money.
