Your original point implied that there are no profitable airlines in the world and you were proven very wrong. I think you should just accept that you were wrong and move on. You don’t have to keep widening the goal post to come across as an expert that is never wrong. We are all here to learn and exchange ideas and nobody can claim to know it all. emmanuelewumi: 9 Likes |

Ethiopia Airlines does not benefit from government subsidies. The airline is able to stay profitable because of its efficiency and low cost base (cheap labour and cheap financing costs) when compared to it’s competitors’. Do you know that the airline is 100 percent owned by the government? One shareholder with a net profit of USD300m is better than a million shareholders with USD1 billion net profit. At the end of the day, it is not just about the profits (the government doesn’t receive the dividends but re-invests the entire net profit in growing the company) but do you know how many jobs the airline has created for young people and even women in Ethiopia? Massive. Let’s not even talk about the tourist revenue that the airline has made possible not just for Ethiopia but the entire East Africa. Ethiopian Airline’s business model is not being used as a case study by other international airlines for nothing. As Africans, we should be commending them for what they are doing with their own resources as a closed economy. Imagine where they will be when they open up completely to international investors? emmanuelewumi: 3 Likes |

emmanuelewumi: What is Nestle Nigeria total assets? Can Nestle Nigeria turn profits of 60% on Delta Airlines assets if given? Let me tell you this, in investment capitals, the higher the money invested , the lower the risk and return of profits, but within a decade, such investment could be 5 times it worth before, this is worth you should know, please don't ever use nestle Nigeria to compare American airlines in terms of business, it's just laughable. 6 Likes |
