Experience taught me that I should run away from any Investment that will be managed by another person or organization that will give me a monthly return of 10% and above per month or 120% to 200% per annum.

Your original point implied that there are no profitable airlines in the world and you were proven very wrong. I think you should just accept that you were wrong and move on. You don’t have to keep widening the goal post to come across as an expert that is never wrong. We are all here to learn and exchange ideas and nobody can claim to know it all.

Ethiopia Airlines does not benefit from government subsidies. The airline is able to stay profitable because of its efficiency and low cost base (cheap labour and cheap financing costs) when compared to it’s competitors’. Do you know that the airline is 100 percent owned by the government? One shareholder with a net profit of USD300m is better than a million shareholders with USD1 billion net profit. At the end of the day, it is not just about the profits (the government doesn’t receive the dividends but re-invests the entire net profit in growing the company) but do you know how many jobs the airline has created for young people and even women in Ethiopia? Massive. Let’s not even talk about the tourist revenue that the airline has made possible not just for Ethiopia but the entire East Africa. Ethiopian Airline’s business model is not being used as a case study by other international airlines for nothing. As Africans, we should be commending them for what they are doing with their own resources as a closed economy. Imagine where they will be when they open up completely to international investors?
emmanuelewumi:

Almost 80 years old and the most profitable airline in Africa with a profit after tax of almost $200 million. Not sure if they are capitalist or Marxist in Ethiopia. If they are Marxist , you can be very sure of government support

What is percentage of the profitable ones in Africa, compared to most that are still struggling.

There is a reason why Warren Buffet will rather invest in an Aeroplane manufacturing business, rather than in an Airline business

Here in Norway, there was a time my funds was all tied down, I could easily get loan from banks but I decided crowdfunding to get the money, €150,000 , funny enough do you know what the money is for?
To export Stock Fish. I got this funds within 48 hours and made profits of 110k in it, I took 40% and other contributors shared the rest. This is a country that works.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you stop the export business?

You don't seem to know the meaning of been profitable.

When the profit margin is lesser than the inflation rate and lending rate, will you say such business is profitable?

Reason it is not among the top 10 Investments destinations.

Return on asset of 2% is dismal, Nestle Nigeria has about 60%

What is Nestle Nigeria total assets? Can Nestle Nigeria turn profits of 60% on Delta Airlines assets if given?

Let me tell you this, in investment capitals, the higher the money invested , the lower the risk and return of profits, but within a decade, such investment could be 5 times it worth before, this is worth you should know, please don't ever use nestle Nigeria to compare American airlines in terms of business, it's just laughable.

Argue with him at your own peril

Imagine someone comparing Nestle Nigeria profit margin with that of Delta airline.

Whereas the NSE total market capitalisation is not upto 2% of APPLE market capitalisation.

One day he might be fortunate enough to travel out so him can experience the other side of life.

What enlightenment do you need again?
1)Have plenty money because that thing is very expensive.
2)Go Scandinavia countries especially Norway.
3)load container and bring to Nigeria.
4) Go to aba and open shop like the rest of your compatriots, the likes of Chidinma Ekile's father(JUMBO) in Aba and battle it out with them to sell.
Goodluck! angry
