Initially when I got the phone, once I long-press an app, uninstall, remove from desktop and info will pop up.

But now it pops up only a trash icon which uninstalls the app.

I've updated to the latest, which has a patch level of May 2019.

How do I remove app shortcuts from home screen?

Lol, cut the phone some slack. Note 4 pro is a 2017 phone so having security updates 2yrs later is not "sad"

How do I remove app shortcuts from home screen?
go to apps in the settings, look for the home UI app and clear it's data it will totally clean up the home interface.

I cleared the data from XOS Launcher, but it only brought back system apps to the home screen. Still any app I download goes straight to the home screen.
