Hello all, please i have RIDE PLUS tubular batteries 220ah 12v *2 with 2* 300watts pv, but when ever there is solar input or phcn input it will constant at 27.6 volt and once there are no input from any of the source it will drastically reduce to 25.2 or 25v. and stable on 25v for long before it will started to drop gradually depend on the loan on it. my question are the batteries ok? they are new battery that are less than a month.
please your input will be very appreciated
Try to test your batteries with an external multimeter as the voltage displays on some inverters are not correct

how much will an inverter 1kva and 40ah battery cost? I plan to use it as a ups with total load of not more than 300w

It depends on what your design considerations are. If you are planning to work within or maxing out the solar capacity of the hybrid inverter, then you don't need an external charge controller. If however your design needs more solar panels than the hybrid inverter can hold, then an external charge controller is needed. It's your detailed design that determines any add-ons.

I hope this helps.

Hello house, please pardon my ignorance. Does one require a charge controller for a hybrid inverter?

Bàbá get your stuff from Lagos. It is cheaper that way and it will be shipped to Ilorin or Ado Ekiti for a token.

Sadly most resellers in those places you mentioned are terrible opportunists, offers may be better in Ilorin though. If you decide to get from them, be prepped to pay as much as 10k to 12k difference in price. Also you will have less choice of products.

I know someone who promised to break that monopoly in Ado by selling at reasonable prices. I'll ask him if he has stocks. Which ones would you need?

Guys,

What informs the decision of either going for a PWM or MPPT charge controller, and whether to go for a 20A, 30A or 40A capacity?

My intended setup will be just one 220ah tubular battery and one 260w solar panel (will be upgraded much later) and maximum load per time will be 100w (just one laptop and energy-saving bulbs. No fans).

Also, are there different types of solar panels? I once read monocrystalline, etc. Which presents the optimal option for a setup like mine?

Finally, I once read that at high sunlight, one can power a fridge directly from the panel. Which option presents that possibility? Coz i have a 110w deep freezer i intend to power isolatedly, sometimes.

Hello sir,

What is the difference between flooded and sealed batteries? Can you share pictorial examples, if possible?

The pic posted by abbeymighty is flooded battery, while sealed batterys are similar to the new tupe car batteries, you can google this to educate yourself more

I have a budget of 100k.

And I want to set up a durable solar energy system.

Just for charging phone, laptop and light bulbs MAYBE television.

Is it possible to get a good one with my budget?
And if possible what product or kind should I go for?.

I’ll really appreciate it if someone can answer this.

This your budget ca not take you anywhere,
this is just mini break down below;

INVERTER: Btw 60k to 120k for 1kva or less
BATTERY : 100AH Btw 60 k to 100k whle 200ah is btw 80k to 150k depend on the manufacturer.
but if you are adding solar, you will need the following:
solar panel; 300 watts btw 40 to 50k
Solar charge controller(mppt) btw 40k to 50k
Installation /professional charges

Ur budget is quite tight but you can get the main items but might spend a little more on accessories while installing, but let me give you my opinion.

Inverter: BTS 500w hybrid inverter - 25k
Battery: 100ah battery (China) 35 -40k
Solar panel: 250w panel tier 2 - 35k

NB: Based on usage the battery can give you a year and half or Max 2yrs. If you require premium brands then you need to up Ur budget.

It's not on Jumia but it's on the BTS store on Konga, as per it's durability I have not used it but I've used the 1kva BTS inverter model and the BTS brand is a rugged brand, so I feel it should also be good.

If no one has it here you can check router part sellers or any computer accessory shop near you. The other option is to buy it from AliExpress which will be slow.

I have ordered from AE since grin

The delay prompted me to ask for it here.

The ones sold near me don't work. Not the recognized. Not exactly this cable but the one that would require another RJ45 to RJ45.

You seem to be needing an RS485 to serial/usb cable but you are instead asking for a standard RJ45 to serial/USB cable.

The RS485 pinout is different from how a Cat5/6 ethernet cable is crimped for data comms between two network interface cards.

If you lay hands on any serial cable, you can cut off the male end and crimp on RJ45 connector with the wires arranged in the correct pinout for your application.

The CC has a port written RS485 SLAVE.

I checked RS485 cable but it can't enter that port. The manual on the CC shows that the connection requires RJ45 to USB cable, the type shown here.

There is no universal software. Maybe there are ones that I'm not aware of. The software installed in my pc is from the company that manufactured the CC. Epsolar/Epever is the company. The product is one of their Triron series. If you use their product, you can download the specific software for your model on their website.
