Thank you so much einsteino for your response, I appreciate.
I plan on going to Fanshawe college and the program is for a one year program in Jan 2021.
Does Ontario consider students for PNP?

I am not sure that Ontario has a PNP specifically for diploma grads. What I know of is the OINP Masters graduate stream but even that only opens once in a while. A diploma wouldn't qualify you for the Master's graduate draw. There is an OINP stream for international students but you would require a job to qualify. To me that doesn't help much except your points are really low. I say this because with a Job offer and a canadian diploma, most people would have enough points for express entry(without PNP). The headache has always been getting that good job before PGWP expires.

I would suggest that you come first and worry about PR later. You may also choose to find admission in provinces like Manitoba. However, if you would need to hustle to pay fees and living expenses, then I am not sure how easy that would be in Manitoba. You may want to ask someone who schooled in Manitoba what the hustle life for students is like. Hopefully, someone here who knows better would chip in. All the best of luck bro/sis

There is a canadian student visa thread where you would get rich information from students. I think the life in Canada thread applies specifically to questions about living in Canada that the other Canadian threads may not help with.

You would be amazed at how much info you would get from students about the visa process and outcomes. Here is the link to the thread:

Lol I had to ask because it is hard to tell from the way s/he phrased it. From the bolded, you even suggest that you are uncertain too lol
That's why I said "Felt". That was what i could decode from his sentence

I still can't tell till now, and I believe from the way the sentence was structured that one can only assume. If s/he had used "one" in the stead of "you", it would be crystal clear that s/he was speaking in general(esp since it was a comment in reply to mine). I don't think it was wrong of me to ask if s/he was referring to me, I made sure to not be impolite when I asked. It was an opportunity to clear my misconceptions rather than me assuming. I know that text is easily misconstrued, so maybe I sounded the opposite from what I intended.

Thank you so much... I'm thinking of writing ielts before leaving Nigeria and hopefully I pass it well so I don't need to bother about that when the time to apply for EE comes. I'll way my options whichever way. Thanks again for your timely response.

The bolded, very very good idea. Also, start looking on indeed for jobs in your area of study. Are there technical skills employers are looking for in your field that you don't have at the moment? Is there a way you can get them before moving to or completion of your studies in Canada?

Einsteino already touched on almost everything. I will add my bit.

I have seen people get PR with 1 year PGWP and I also have friends who are in the process at the moment. I must be honest it is a bit risky but very feasible. You just need to be very strategic in your approach and pray for grace.

My default advise is and will always be, If you have the money, do 2 PGC programs and get 3 years PGWP. That is what I did and I am a Fanshawe alumni as well.

I finished my first program last year August. Most of my friends applied for 1 year PGWP and luckily most of them got NOC O and B jobs within 2 months of graduating (your program and skills play a big role in how you get these jobs). Most of them wanted to apply for EE under the Canadian Experience Class. Unfortunately, Covid 19 showed up and some of them lost their jobs March and April this year. Few others got lucky and did not lose theirs, these ones will enter the pool October this year. Those ones who lost their jobs, were without jobs for almost 3 months and now they are in a fix of how they get their PR with PGWP will expiring soon. This is the risk with 1 year PGWP

When it comes to applying for 1 year PGWP, I will advise you consider these factors;

- What is your CRS score at the moment? some people just need few more points and they are okay with getting additional education
- IELTS
- Age
- Which EE route are you thinking of using
- Which program will you be studying in Canada as this will play a big role in how fast you get a NOC job post graduation
- What soft and technical skills and work experience do you have right now? This also plays a big role in how fast you get a NOC job post graduation.

What happens if you weight all your options and then you opt for 1 year PGWP and unforeseen circumstances pops up, what is your contingency plan? Getting NOC O, A, or B jobs could be very difficult.

My advise, do IELTS now before you move to Canada or while studying in Canada (thank God you already decided to do that).

When you get into Canada, apply for a second program as plan B. You are allowed to take 150 days break on the completion of one program before starting another
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/assessing-conditions.html .

Very close to the completion of your first program, you can apply to as many jobs as possible all over Canada. God forbid, if you don't get a NOC O, A or B job 2-3 months post graduation, you can apply for study permit extension and continue with your second program.

P.s Nairaland has many Fanshawe alumni and current students. London awaits you, all the best.

If you can do IELTS while in Nigeria, great. When you land here, you may find that CELPIP is easier(I haven't done a survey, so take it as beer parlour talk).

Well said! @ the bolded, nice to know you were at Fanshawe. I lived in London for a bit, a couple of my friends were at Fanshawe then. The guy that I said went back for a second diploma is also at Fanshawe.

CELPIP makes a lot of sense. However, no need to rush the English test when you don't know when the PR pathway will become feasible. Unless if na mock exam you tag am as.

Why can't you just go to immigration office in Abeokuta to do a new passport, it comes out 2 weeks Max for express. 55k for old passport express and you would get it. You might even get it in a day. No jokes.

Also ilorin is another option.
55k for passport when it's not upto 25k on official site
