I turn down job offers. The exodus of highly skilled and experienced professionals to Canada, US and Australia has reduced the number of of people like us in the country. Companies are now competing the few that are here, because other option is to hire Indians and Chinese professionals; which is more expensive. I guess, after ten years, the job offers start rolling.

For programming language I would say it depends. If you are between 13 to 18 and want to get into programming. I would advice you to learn C and C++.

If you are above 18, JavaScript and PHP. I believe those above 18 would be looking to get into the labour market and those two languages have the most jobs out there. Cost implication. Well just data. You are gonna spend on data a lot and then you need a lot of time at least 4 to 5 hours a day.

Can it be learned online? And if yes, after learning online can I work with it?

If you are not from a well to do family or well connected, its better you go learn Trade, business or handwork and gather enough experience and money before proceeding to any higher institution in Nigeria ,except you have intention of going abroad.
Nigerian certificate is more or less like a tissue paper, used and disposed in the rest room. Most importantly.pray to God for Grace!!

At 17, you will go far in life if you keep up this spirit and aspiration.

At this your age, just dive into IT and know your onions, then sky will be your starting point. Artificial intelligence is taking over the world at a light speed.

I am not an IT guy but this is the trend right now. Go and do your research to know what IT skills you really need.
Thanks

Is there anyone very good? Tech changes dynamically. JavaScript in 2013 isn't the same as today. The language had a very huge revamp in 2015 that changes how most things were written. Such revamps also happen with other languages.

Teaching it depends on the person though.

If you enter programming with such mindset to be an over-night millionaire then be ready for disappointments.

Those who excel in programming are those who see it with passion, with that same passion the patience will be there, don't go into programming because you heard there is money in it.
If the passion and patience is not there then please just reverse back.

You can work and be paid from home but it's gonna require a very huge investment on your own part. First of all you need to learn to code. This will take you around 6 months to at least get the front end part of web development right. Once you are proficient in the front-end you can start applying to jobs. Trust me you are gonna face a lot of rejections but the jobs are there. Let's say it takes 100 applications to land 10 interviews. You can send out 100 applications in one day if you are serious. There's also freelancing sites like Upwork but you need money to get started on Upwork or you would be frustrated and come to nairaland and shout it doesn't work.

Yes, you can.

I am a living testimony.

I am a freelance digital marketer though and have never worked for a Nigerian company as a DM.

After learning, go online (Facebook, Twitter, etc) and join programmers' groups.

Employers often post openings from time to time. They may ask you to do a simple test to assess your competence.

If you pass, you will join the company.

Alternatively, you can sign up on freelance sites like Fiverr and Upwork. Those platforms are very competitive though.

Information Technology breaks geographic borders.
