Ur budget is quite tight but you can get the main items but might spend a little more on accessories while installing, but let me give you my opinion.

Inverter: BTS 500w hybrid inverter - 25k
Battery: 100ah battery (China) 35 -40k
Solar panel: 250w panel tier 2 - 35k

NB: Based on usage the battery can give you a year and half or Max 2yrs. If you require premium brands then you need to up Ur budget.

My 2 kobo...

Thanks a whole lot I really appreciate.

Okay, up my budget to what exactly?
150?

This your budget ca not take you anywhere,
this is just mini break down below;

INVERTER: Btw 60k to 120k for 1kva or less
BATTERY : 100AH Btw 60 k to 100k whle 200ah is btw 80k to 150k depend on the manufacturer.
but if you are adding solar, you will need the following:
solar panel; 300 watts btw 40 to 50k
Solar charge controller(mppt) btw 40k to 50k
Installation /professional charges

Lol @ cannot take me anywhere.
Okay sir . Thank you

It's not on Jumia but it's on the BTS store on Konga, as per it's durability I have not used it but I've used the 1kva BTS inverter model and the BTS brand is a rugged brand, so I feel it should also be good.

How long have you been using your BTS inverter?
I intend getting the 1.5kva 24v version. The only heavy stuff it will power once in a while is a small fridge rated 100w or so. I hope that's a good choice?
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 2:29pm On Sep 08, 2020
Someone on this thread said prime delivers above name plate so I decided to give it a trial on my recent deployment and got 2x380w from @justcallmenuel. Today when the sun had a brief laughter I saw 0.84kw and it stayed for at least 2min, unfortunately I didn't take picture and no loging option at that site. My 280x9 sunfit was also slightly above name plate (power) when I checked my log today.

Certainly solar will be what more people will transition to with increase in utility cost/bills.

To increase Ur budget would mean u want to go premium. I would advise you start with Ur original plan and as time goes and Ur needs increase or Ur taste improves, u might look for something better, everything in that list can be resellable or reusable.

Just have extra cash for accessories... Country hard my brother...

About 5months and counting, it has its cons and pros sha, cons being that u can't adjust charge profile and the charging amperage is quite low (10a @ 12v and 24v respectively).
Pros bring that it has a built in AVR and a dedicated DOD switch which u can set to 50% or 25% DoD.

All else is as it should be.

A friend here (Valto) once told me of an icellpower echo x4 12v 1.5kva inverter (continuous work rating is 1kva) with adjustable settings for almost everything and a low self consumption too. It might be worth looking into, though it was out of stock for sometime, you might be lucky to get one. I believe it can also serve u well.

NB: the icellpower inverter does not come with battery cables nor power cables.

Please the gurus or the experienced in the house, is true that pure sine wave inverter consumed more energy if connected to phch source.
Please contribution base on your experience particularly people with prepaid meter

This should not be an issue because charging will be mostly through solar panels. Thanks

Hmm... that's really about budget. The victron hybrids will certainly be one of the best and I heard there is an official reseller in naija. However other good ones include, must hybrid, Felicity hybrid, sorotec (which you can get from @valto), I don't know of a local source for MPP hybrids else it would be top on my list wink

Buying used items may help you achieve your goal as well.
A client of mine would have 20 x 250w mono chinese panels, for sale next week, as a result of upgrade. Price would be 25k for each panel, however slight discount if buying more than 4 panels.

Mix of myhome, sunfit, flames panels

Hola!
Sounding like a good deal & I think I have a friend that might be interested.
How long were the panels used for and what's their current condition please?

yeah, for people on a budget, it sure would help them on their way. the oldest of them all is renogy usa panels, abt 7yrs, the rest are chinese sunfit, myhome, flames yingli etc,,about 4yrs.harvest wise, hard to be certain, i observed them pumping out upto 70% of their rated capacity recently

Edit.

Hi everyone, what inverter can I get that's strong enough to power a laptop charger of 230W, it's a powerful resource-demanding laptop and the only brand I know, Lumos, has maximum output of 60W.

You think say we go fit escape PHCN cum government wàhálà as dey go so?

Na for dem to begin ask anyone wey get solar panel for roof to start paying tax or just outrightly increase the custom duties on solar products imported into the country.

If revenue still nor enter reach, dem go begin collect tax for oxygen o.

Your question is hard to interprete or understand. But I will give an umbrella response that is basic and simple and hope you can pick your answer from it.

By PSW connected to PHCN source, you mean a PSW inverter with an inbuilt charger. As an inverter user, the only reason your inverter may have business with PHCN is for energy to charge your batteries or to power your devices in the case of some hybrid inverters

The consumption therefore will depend on the capacity/rating of the in-built charger rather than it being a PSW inverter or not. Or in the case of the hybrid ones, on your loads (devices) plus the in-built charger rating.

If the Lumos you wrote about is similar to that MTN Lumos package then that's not an "inverter". It's more like a whole system. That is, battery + inverter + charge controller in one box, in a small form factor.

That being said, for the merciless power-hungry 230w laptop charger, you may get by with a 500 watts inverter if you are low on budget. You will also need to get batteries, AC battery charger and/or charge controller plus solar panels to complete the system.

Is anyone here familiar with Felicity Charge Controller? I need the 120A or the 100A version, but it is important that I'm able to communicate with it over serial or modbus. Thanks in advance.
