1, Good day guys what determines the choice of charge controller to go for? 2, which is better, should I go for hybrid inverter or just CC 3 I have a friend who’s with 80watts solar panel with a LiFePO4 battery capacity of 480watts. Does that mean with 6/7 hours of sun the battery will charge to its full capacity Do I need I still need a charge controller for this system thanks 1 Like |

adrusa: I know the hybrids have com I expect the controllers would as well |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 10:49am On Sep 09, 2020 |
funshyboi: 1. Your budget and required generation from the sun 2. I prefer hybrids but some prefer standalone 3. Assuming the generation is 80w for 6/7 hours yes but that is not practical the power will drop and peak according to sun rays. Yes you need a charge controller if you want to charge with sunlight. That said, some people connects panel directly to batteries, I don't recommend that. Not safe for you and your backup system |

please what rating of external charger (that plugs in to PHCN) do i need to charge a 12 Volts 200 AMPS battery in 3 - 4 hours? How many amps charger will be ok to achieve that? |

AshipaEk0: If it's a lead acid battery use the rule of the thumb and do c÷10 where c is capacity. Therefore a 20 amps (200÷10) charger can work in this case. How fast it gets full is now a function of how depleted the battery is, but an average of six hours should do when severely depleted. Charging lead acid at very high current can damage it, you can get away with that with most lithium batteries where you can do 100amps on a 200ah lithium battery easily |

ojeysky: 1, Let’s say I have panels supplying 1000 watts generation 2 hybrids will serve as CC and and can still be used to the battery with electricity right ? 3 can you lay more emphasis why it’s not safe Thanks |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by wilmaria14: 11:22am On Sep 09, 2020 |
funshyboi:1 size and numbers of batteries you have 2 charger control is d best to go for so long it is DC / AC 3 Depends on d controller size mostly MPPT 4 yes u need MPPT CC Thanks u can still buy from us WhatsApp 08028074483 1 Like |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 12:03pm On Sep 09, 2020 |
funshyboi: 1&2 if you want 1kw then you can get 1.5kw of panel 250w X 8 or 380w x 4. Get a 2kw hybrid inverter, it will serve as CC, will provide electricity to your gadget and will provide charging via utility as well not just through sunlight 3. The panel voltage may exceed the battery voltage and there will be noting to tell the panel to stop charging the battery which could result to overcharging |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 2:06pm On Sep 09, 2020 |
funshyboi: Hybrid 2kw 125k 380w X 4 panels 200k Battery LFP 100AH 24v 300k or You do 2x200AH lead acid at 250k to 300k depending on brand The above should power your machine for at least 3hrs on full battery. Double your battery and double your panel (with an extra external CC) if you need more backup time |

AshipaEk0: The maximum current to charge a battery bank is 25% of the size of the battery bank. In your case you have 200ah battery of which 25% of it is 50. most inverters discharge batteries to 50% only for lead acid batteries, in that case you are charging 100ah of the battery. with this in mind the maximum charger you need is a 12v 25amps charger which will charge the battery in 4 hrs tops. ANY CHARGER ABOVE 12V 25AMPS CAN DAMAGE YOUR BATTERY! |

Haven't you wondered how those town planning people know about structures being erected even in the remotest of places that before you know it, they have written "Stop work, no approved plan" on the building? They'll have scouts all over the place so land installation may not be hidden 1 Like |

I need the input of the experts on an upgrade I am about embarking on . I have a 1000watts,12 volts inverter on 3 units of 105ah batteries connected to 640watts( 160 watts* 4 ) felicity panels via a 60amp PWM Controller. I intend adding more panels panels ( additional 640_watts) but the max PV power input of the CC is 720watts( of course replacing battery bank with 3 units of 180ah battery) I am considering the following options A. Run separate wire for a new 60 AMPS CC connected to the new panels B.Buy a 100amps PWM Controller( found about 2 already on Ali express) with max PV WATTS capacity of 1300 watts and just change the charge controller. This saves the cost of running separate wires I just need the input of the gurus!! 2 Likes |

omotoda:at this stage of your upgrade u shouldn't be using a pwm cc i advise u trade off your 12V 1000w inverter get a 24V inverter with at least 30A utility charger buy a 60A mppt cc buy premium 2pcs 200ah or 220ah battery then u are good to go |

funshyboi: Regarding question number 1. I asked same question here, but no one answered. So i went on a quest to get answers from Youtube. There is a simple calculation: Divide the size of your solar panels by the voltage of your system. So, of you have a 600watts panel system on a 12v battery bank setup, you should use a CC with a minimum rate of 50A (600watts/12v) 1 Like |
