The country can't afford to have his likes roaming around free.

Left to me I will set up an assasination team within government agency to take out these guys one by one across the length and breath of this nation. I go home in Bayelsa and see the nonsense some of these exmilitants do and shake my head in disgust.

He was once giving amnesty by the state government in 2016 or so sha.

He renegade on the agreement he had with the state government after he was paid some money.

The government promised to grant him amnesty again. That's the reason he came out of hiding.

I'm sure there was no firefight when he was arrested. I have no pity for him cause he has killed a lot of people. He is also involve in cattle rustling and kidnapping.

You stop the convoy of an unarmed ex criminal that was granted amnesty, took him away, later shot him dead, and you're telling us he died in a gunfire undecided nah only God know the true situation of things in the North East sad

First of all an ambush does not equate to immediate overriding victory by your enemy.

If you are in an area of contention, ambush is not a SUPRISE it's an EXPECTATION.

And if you are expectant then you are EQUIPPED, PREPARED to RESPOND OFFENSIVELY and seize the initiative and turn in into a victory.

There is a reason you do not see modern day combatants packed in the back of soft skinned pick up trucks.

They will be in a series of different types of Armoured vehicles. For instance the USA you will have JLTV, MRAP'S, IFV'S all with considerable offensive capability.

When you clear all the surrounding vegetation, trees, shrubs, long grass, etc You can see and be seen too, but it also means you also have nowhere to hide and or take cover, you are exposed.

Therer are different types of Ambushes, but going into theoretic description is not that important.

But our own NA modus opera operandi. The NA have a great belief in the strength of numbers so go into areas of contention bunched up in 50 + vehicle convoys in broad daylight.

They go on designated and well know paths and main roads. This approach does not require complicated intelligence to set up an ambush. In addition the vehicles they have don't give them any real offensive response and or protection.

Boko insurgents will have IED's, the obligatory Gun Trucks, RPG7's and the overwhelming number 90% will be carrying AK47's and light machin guns.

Most modern armies operations taking place in Sahel savanna. Will have a policy of not driving on the same route twice, most movement will be at night, and thier vehicles will be able to survive IED's, overcome RPG7's, and the HMG fire from the gun trucks. This makes a direct ambush attack to be far from advantageous.

For a RPG7 you have an effective range of less than 300 metres and with open terrain no obstructions. Clearing the grass around main roads makes it easier not harder for the enemy.

So if you don't go on the routes twice, using multiple routes and alternatives you are elusive to your enemy. These are all terrain vehicles, going off road is normal, not easy but achievable. Then you make it harder for Boko.

So now you face an ambush. 90 % of Boko small arms fire ineffective against your armoured vehicle. They might get one vehicle with an IED but they are well spaced. The rpg7's will not get through the cage armour on the armoured vehicles. And the minute you fire an RPG your heat signature is there for all too see, you are gunned down immediately with incendiary fire from cannon on the IFV or HMG on the multiple armoured vehicles you have.

You immediately charge through the bushes and long grasses you have elevation and can see them, coordinated ambush contingency plan in place, well rehearsed, nothing is SURPRISING. Any gun trucks you will outflank mash up or toast with the precision weaponry at your disposal.

At this stage you don't just REPEL, you pursue, overtake, decimate and ANNIHILATE they will never return. There is a need for retraining for some of our combatants IMO.

Look at operation Serval which started before opoperation Barkhan. Since inception in 2013 and to date 45 French soldiers have been killed in 7 years of combat. There have been several ambush attempts but not with any success of note.

I can not imagine the casualty figures of the NA over the past 7 years it could be thousands.

However, these insurgents will avoid the French and confront Malian, Burkina, Chad and Niger combatants at will and with no fear, WHY.

Our procurement priorities are wrong.

At this stage of our development absolutely all our gallant combatants should be in armoured fighting vehicles of different types.

Absolutely, sometimes I wish you were our theatre commander. You seem to have experience on how things should be in place. Although you're an idealist, it takes a realistic mind to win a war because you're required to act in regards to the present reality and not how things should be.

LOL. On this case I absolutely love how he got served.
I worked in benue around when this guy was unleashing terror on common villagers, kidnapping and killing his victims. He was brutal.
Tho. He and his boys brought the fulani crisis to its barest minimum.
You see all those senators crying like whores? Most of them were in bed with him. Hell even the state government was once in bed with him.
The governor should thank the army.
Because anyhow the amnesty went. He would have still kicked back to his usual way.

See what the renowned journalist Babajide Otitoju wrote on his face book wall:

“Something unprecedented happened to me today. As I previewed a 30-minute documentary I produced on Proforce, a Nigerian company that designs and produces military tactical vehicles, Mine Resistance and Ambush- Protected, MRAP, bullion vans, bulletproof vests etc, which recently got the contract to produce 100 MRAPs for Chad Republic, I began shedding tears. It is not the greatest investigative or ground-breaking story I have done, certainly not. I shed tears about my country, a country I love so much. A country that has only four state-owned refineries, whereas a single American state, Texas has 47 refineries, my country that couldn't build a single refinery in more than 30 years. I am happy that something really good is coming out of my country beyond corruption, mind-boggling fraud and irresponsibly bad and selfish leadership. I feel inspired by Ade Ogundeyin's work and the brilliance of his young son who is the head of operations of the company. At last, even if fleetingly, I cling on to hope that our country can be great again, perhaps in my time.

Watch the Documentary at 8.30pm today on TVC Insight.”

cry cry it is quite unfortunate that we live in a society where criminals are been celebrated while the real people who are gave up their lives and freedom are been criticised and insulted at every given opportunity. A killer is a killer whether he repent or not, that is why I don't buy the idea of Buhari de-radicalisation and rehabilitation of BHTs members. You commit crime, then you must pay for it whether u be ibo ,Hausa, or Yoruba.

He was granted amnesty by Ortom. He was on his way to surrender with his boys accompanied by some government officials. The army stopped their convoy and fingered him out. He coporated. They promised they only needed to interrogate him. Few mins later they returned ganas corpse to them. He was extra judicially murdered. The army have always been stupid and foolish and this was the height of it all or you think killing gana will be of any good? Lol they just created more chaos in benue state. Or do they think he doesn't have loyalist in the bush? I seriously fear the repercussions of this act. Gana moreover has always been protecting the tiv people from fulanis , now that he's gone, those people have been given way to wreck more havoc unless they kill their own warlord galolo but even with that, it doesn't still stop anything.

If you want to see how dumb and unreasonable some Nigerians are, just sprinkle a little bit of ethnic, political, or religious sentiments to any situation. Calm urself down with a beer and watch how they display.
