Who now set d price for Nigeria? Is it global market or is it PPPRA?
PPPRA is to make sure that the pump price is within the right range. The agency can also be scrapped and we will still be fine.

So what are d "favourable policies" that local govt councilors, state& federal reps supposed to come up with?
Like oboy said go & ask them, that was why they were elected in the 1st place.

I have answered your question, even told you the person that made the statement. I also challenged you to bring evidence Fg, NNPC or PPPRA set the 162 price. Do you have comprehension problem?
Since you want to be fed, follow this link. https://insidemainland.com/2020/09/09/fg-will-no-longer-set-price-bands-for-petrol-as-full-deregulation-kicks-in-2/
Marketers are used to a certain margin PPPRA or NNPC give on ex-depot price. They just applied that themselves to set the price at 162. I won't engage you again if you don't provide evidence FG or any agency set the 162 price. Or provide evidence FG or any agency is still setting price.
Also, the FG setting price (actual or band) does not mean there is subsidy. they are different things

Pls, look at d date on d link u provided. Did u notice d date? What is d story in d link? Did u read it at all? Cos u seem to be more confused & lost than I expected. If u had read d story& "comprehended" it and taken note of d date vis-a-vis d current situation of fuel price & d discussion at hand, u wouldn't have used it as a backup for your postulation

PPPRA is to make sure that the pump price is within the right range.

What does that mean? Isn't it d same thing as setting price?

Does fuel price increase fall under d purview of local councilor, state& federal legislators? Where councilors, state& federal legislators elected to come up with policies? But if u insist, u can tell me what are d "favourable policies" that local govt councilors, state& federal reps supposed to come up with with regards d subject of discussion?

I didn't ask u about subsidizing. It's a very straightforward thing but u are just going round in circles. What is d difference between "setting price" and "making sure pump price is within range"? Who set d range in d first place?

For the very last time, I will help you.

PPPRA job will remain as before but govt is not paying any subsidy this time. PPPRA will not set any price but to ensure no marketer sells outside the landing cost + profit margin.

Regulating prices doesn't mean same as setting prices. Try learn jare.

Abacha left pump price at #11 per litre.

Democracy dabaru everything.

What annoyed me most is people saying pdp is better than apc.

Not knowing the lack of infrastructural development since 1999 will continue to have compound effects on a future not invested in.

No matter how loud we shout, it wouldn't change the truth that government since 1999 had dependent on our oyel.

It wouldn't change the truth that anything that hits the source of income will affect everyone dependent on that income.

It wouldn't change the truth that we wasted resources (looting etc) when we had a real rainy season ($112 per barrel).

It wouldn't change the truth that between June 2014 and June 2015, our source of income is threatened by market forces nosedived from $112 to $26 per barrel.

It wouldn't change the fact that democracy couldn't build a refinery in 21 years.

It wouldn't change the truth that you can't sell your cassava (crude oil) and be able to convince garri (refined products) seller to still sell to you at same price you sold your cassava.

It won't change the truth that Naira won't appreciate until we are able to consistently have positive trade index. Trade deficit will always make naira poorer.

It won't change the truth that the present government can't build refineries at present because the source of our income is threatened.

It won't change the truth that covid 19 had made the situation worse. Commercial activities grounded worldwide and Nigeria could not sell to people what they don't need.

The reality is that we are paying dearly for the failures of Obj to Buhari.

The shock is this, dangote refineries won't solve nothing because he's a business man.

Things won't get better than it was under Abacha in 1997.

Stop pretending by saying A is better than B. The cumulative effect of bad governance since 1999 is all we are witnessing today.

Next 10 years can only be better if oil sells high and we have leaders who can use the oil boom gains to massively develop infrastructures.

Without infrastructures, economy is always crippled.

Do you understand what price regulation means or how it differs from price setting?

There lies your answer.

We should instead be concerned about the processes that should follow after.

The deregulization of the Oil sector Is another commendable efforts.

No Gain without Pain.

It is very painful to read this type of comment

How many times will the regime remove subsidy ?
Subsidy that they called fraud in 2015.....and can you please explain how this policy suggest deregulation ?

How can you deregulate a product you don't produce and still fix the price at the same time ?

Nigeria problem is education and enlightenment. You don't even know when you're feeling pain with no gain.

No need for all this ...the truth remains Nigeria doesn't need to go back to Subsidy again, subsidy only made friends of any sitting president super rich without any work or creativity being exchanged for such work and it bled the ability to save of a poor country like Nigeria .. Any protest now will just make the fragile Economy to get worst and I don't think the govt will budge not because they don't have empathy bit because the can't afford subsidy as it is now ..
Objectivity is all I see in this comment.

Subsidy removal doesn't mean the price will not go up or down anymore. It actually means the price will fluctuate according to the crude price in the global market.
So what happened few months ago when the price of crude oil crashed? Why didn't we see a corresponding decrease in fuel pump price?

How many times will this government remove subsidy? Thought removal of subsidy was the reason for the increase to #145/litre.

Is it local councilors, state and federal legislators that are responsible for making policies? Is right to education not already enshrined in d Constitution & isn't part of universal basic education? Does Nigeria not already have d consumer protection commission? What theses two things u mentioned got to do with fuel price and electricity increase?

"Amongst many others'? What exactly does that mean? If they are many, y can't u name them?

Pls which subsidy was removed in 2016? What was removed & what was left?

What is d process that u say should follow after?

U speak of deregulation. Has d downstream sector been deregulated? If so, how?

Y must d citizens be d ones to make sacrifices 4d country to be better? Is that what d Constitution says? Y have all d sacrifices made so far by d citizens not improved Nigeria? Since 2015, has d economy been properly managed?

Meanwhile, Buhari & d rest of d political class and their families eat free food, drink free water& drinks, wear free clothes, read free newspaper, enjoy free internet & phone calls, free air and road transportation, free medical care, free electricity, free water, free security, free entertainment & DStv, free accomodation at home& abroad and several other freebies we don't even know for doing nothing. Pls who is paying for all these freebies? is it d American economy or d same Nigerian economy that u say is bad that is sustaining d freebies? Why aren't u calling for d political class to make sacrifices instead of d citizens to make sacrifices?

Check your record. We saw a decrease in June.

And the fact that we were having subsidy until recently, govt didn't have to reduce price when crude price fell since we were not paying the actual fuel price originally.
