($15,778) X (361) X (0.35) X (1.38) + (N250,000) = N3,001,099.41 Total clearing cost excluding demourage if any

hello can you please explain what are the .35 and 1.38 used in the calculations. I thought there is no surcharge on used cars and only 35% duty? thanks!

After converting the value from USD to Naira, we have to bring it down to 35% of that value to give us the actual surface duty, then we multiply by 1.38, this covers for surcharges, vat and ECOWAS charges etc, that now gives us the total duty payable.

Thanks Very much for your explanation. So what you are saying is that in addition to the 35% duty, there is also a 35% surcharge + vat + eco was etc which totals 38% levied on the surface duty....abi?

My question is I thought The additional 35% surcharge (Not duty) was only on new cars. I.e I thought only new cars paid surcharge in addition to duty ?
