TransAtlanticEx: The signs are there, rigourous marketing of scheme, elongation of the duration from 6 months to 12 months. This video will go viral, the Pastor has a lot of followers and his followers are Investors in some of these schemes. A ponzi scheme needs new Investors and rollover of dividends to sustain their temporary existence, with this video it will become difficult to get new Investors or rollover of dividends. Everybody will want to cash out at the same time and that will be the end 7 Likes 1 Share |

Have you observed that your bank will never advertise fixed deposit or Treasury Bills (during the days of 18%) to their customers. You will have to meet them and make enquiries about such opportunities. Even after making your enquiries they will try to discourage you Most of the money making opportunities and Investments are top secrets, when money making opportunities are marketed to people we should know we need to be careful 40 Likes 3 Shares |

juniorrate: VGIF is a SEC regulated investment that currently pays about 8% or thereabout so there is no cause for alarm. SEC regulated funds have trustees which is different from the fund manager. 2 Likes |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmasoft(m): 10:20am On Sep 12, 2020 |
emmanuelewumi: Thank you Sir for that contribution. Yes currently the Trustees to VGIF is FBNQUEST TRUSTEES hence for those who have read the facts of the funds sheet or invested in the fund you will notice the citibank account number given is always fbnquest Trustees/VGIF as the account name. No money goes out of the account without the knowledge of the Trustees. Apart from that there is the nominee and of course the custodian bank then the almighty SEC as already pointed out. So go ahead and invest. It's being marketed because banks and fund managers interest towards customers are almost opposite. While bank wants deposit for investment just for themselves. Fund managers do same for themselves and for their clients. In reality banks and fund managers have divergence interest when it comes to money with respect to customers/clients. By the way don't forget to click the link on my signature to open VGIF account for free or contact me for more on VGIF. I will send you my voice notes on how the funds works. 2 Likes |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 10:49am On Sep 12, 2020 |
You have to understand the difference here, it is not the banks themselves that are marketing it but fund managers who get some sort of commission for each person who invest through them. This is very different from those ponzy schemes. How come I never heard about this MBA forex sef? juniorrate: |

emmanuelewumi:An SEC regulated investment house can lose all your money and you will get nothing from the trustees and fund manager o. Even CBN regulation for banks does not mean that you will get anything over 500,000 Naira if/when the bank goes bust. Other than this 500k guaranteed for any amount (even a 500 million deposit in a Naija bank will get only 500k from NDIC), no other investment or deposit is insured. Nobody should count on SEC regulation as insurance of funds in any investment house o. For Microfinance banks, I think it is only 200k that is insured by NDIC if the MFB goes bust. |

Lazyyouth4u: That would would have been stated in the features of the fund Whether it is a money market fund, equity fund, balanced fund, REIT, fixed income fund VGIF is a blend of money market fund and fixed income fund, so the risk is zero or very minimal. 8% return is quite conservative. The riskiest is equity fund, you can make 30% and above, you can also lose your capital in the interim 2 Likes |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 11:02am On Sep 12, 2020 |
The highest you can get from NDIC is 500k if a bank should go under, thank God for CBN that did not allow the like of Union Bank, Oceanic Bank, Intercontinental Bank, Bank PHB, Skye Bank etc to go under. Rather CBN tookover the banks and allowed other Investors to recapitalized the banks, all most bank CEOs and directors would have preferred insolvent banks to go down than to be taken over by CBN. Any bank customer with substantial funds should always monitor the financials of such banks. Alpha Merchant Bank went down more than 20 years ago, depositors are just paid which is maximum of 500k 3 Likes |

You will have a hard time convincing us otherwise. This screenshoot between lzyyoot and MrTrans was responded to in the first person by Mrs Ezinne. Truth is, we all have a right to different monikers on nairaland, even the best of us will slip up at some point. But don't be ahib's friend when you wear ezine costume and his enemy when you wear lzyoot costume, we like to know our friends and our enemies, frienemies are too complex to deal with. ojesymsym: Not necessary, a bank won't go under overnight, the signs will be their minimum of 18 months before it goes down. CBN is doing a good job about, instead of banks to go down CBN will sack directors of such banks based on distress that can be detected from their financial reports and other signals of insolvency 3 Likes |

You are right sir, since the bank consolidation by Soludo, no bank has gone under with public funds. The worse that happens is take over. One of the reasons I take so called experts with theoritical solution's opinion with a pinch of salt is that there was a compelling argument against it then by many financial experts, yet it turned out to be a good thing. emmanuelewumi: 3 Likes |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 11:28am On Sep 12, 2020 |
Sir, I perfectly understand your points below but if you look at the fund documents of any investment fund, it is clearly stated that you can lose all your investments in that fund. Anyone reading your post may think that the trustee guarantees your funds which is actually not the case.A trustee does its best to protect the interests of the investors but it does not guarantee the investments in a fund. If a fund performs badly, an investor can lose all of its funds regardless of SEC regulations or the presence of a trustee. emmanuelewumi: |
