People are talking about this Davido's song FEM to be related to cultism, and guys have been warned not to sing the song in public. I don't get it. Is this true? weytin FEM kon mean again o cause while growing up, FEM was my mum's word for shut up.
Although, the video screams AYE. It is undeniable.

Bro.. There was a message go back to read the lyrics and evaluate the life of NigerDeltans, mode of dressing and the rest.

It was not actually cultism because it spoke more of uprising militancy and vices of the youth caused by the present administration.

The message was clear, due to the governance of the nation it raised monsters who in turn became cultists, militants and agitators..

Several berets were flown in the video..post militants appear on ted berets as a breakout of the popular Icelanders.. The black beret as a result of cultism.
Towards the end of the video, shows the life of every one involve in those vices, coming back to fight the government indirectly.

Davidos FEM has no deep relation with anything you can imagine less the bragging rights of a typical game man. It speaks more of street gangsterism and radicality.

No actual message passed but just cruise to it. That's the difference bro....

What does it mean?

FEM which has been a normal slang used by our Igbo mother's was introduced as an NBM lingual.. Those days mother tells us, 'If I here Fem' which translates to don't say a word any more....

Most other lingua used in NBM gotten from other languages are:
UHURU--- FREEDOM(SWAHILI)
DODORIMA -THANKS(ANCIENT IGBO)
ERAYO- FIRE (EDOID)

Already happening in Benin, some local celebs have lost their lives or kids to the madness. One very popular one died many years ago and another popular one have escaped severally, though the guy is getting old now but small small boys like him pikin mate still dey map am. Once town spoil like this, carry the man for party na him boys you go see o, even if him come na 2secs things o.

Burna and the rest are safe to me sha unless them go step on toes, if them step on the wrong toe, na that kind hit up coming dey like do to gain reputation. But our government is useless last last, these guys don't really care about what citizens feed their minds with.. Just reminds me of BBN.

This is just the beginning of my story . They are empty chest beaters . I now work with the DSS and I am waiting for them . These fools. I did all to make them happy. I spent a lot for them even after school. I helped them get connections and placed them in a position to help thier family, these fools couldn’t even help me with 7k when I had health issues . They are all leeches . Bastards and all they think about is thier self . I went to south Africa to hussle and they threw me out of thier house knowing fully well I had no place to stay. I will narrate everything , I just need to round up work . Bastards , I go blow any body head wey come close to me, maybe they think they are dishing out threats to their fellow bastards . See all of you threatening to me, I use a glock and not locally made guns and oka made . You go just die like fowl.
This to me sounds like a viking talking here. I noticed with their calling rivals BARSTARDs(meaning they aren't sons of odin). The statement is even like a treat. Note: Short for bastard is bst.

bro, i am a niger deltan and i can authoritatively tell u that this particular music visuals promotes and displays cultism. all the militants u know or heard of where cultist. the berets and dressing you saw them wear in real life represented the cults they belonged to. yes the lyrics made sense but the sheer cultism display is what i have issues with.

Well that's your believe about it....

The meaning reads deeper to me. It says like the Government is bad and in that way it makes us bad. How do we fight them? Civil and social engagements are not forthcoming. What else do we do? Let's involve ourselves into gangsterism in order to keep fit and survive in this nation. We fight the government, steal back our own resources and be a pain to them.

We are used by the government as an instrument of violence, provided with nothing no jobs and we are helpless. They steal from us and fight our voices. When we fight, we get imprisoned by the same Government.

We start a revolution, all abled bodied man dress in black as a sign of readiness to fight for our own freedom. Snap up with black beret as a mark of identity just like the military has theirs and we gather. How do we fight? We go in for war.

This is not about cultism tho..it has more meanings into it, the music is deeply passing a message.

The only problems we have with the music us that of the involvement of the piper with the flute.
Burns Boy is a cultists and seeing it in that light, he indirectly promotes the Stan.

Looking away from the negative aspects no cult slangs were used, if you have read deeply or watched more a white man would view it as a revolution of black people. At times, certain dress codes were used in countries like Burkina Faso, Mali, Rwanda e.t.c....

He may be indirectly saying yes to cultism as the video only depicts violence as a result or answer to the government woes on us.

Lol you brought back memories for me, seems we were on campus in the same era. I saw too much bloodshed in Lasu, took me years to forget those sights. I saw men burnt in front of me, I saw men stabbed or butchered in front of me. Thankfully I didn't join any yeye frats but hits were commonplace in Lasu between 2000 to 2005. I lived in Cassidy close to Lions hostel.

I remembered the yeye peace parley called by the VC among all cult groups, it was a very stupid idea. How do young men who have given their souls to the devil embrace peace? They even made the rivals embrace themselves at the parley. However I saw Currency threatening a rival cult member shortly after that parley at the student arcade. Aiye and Eiye killing themselves like rats. Those were crazy days.

You forgot a certain axxelord named Tommy who was killed in a hotel around Oba dawodu,Bubbly guy and well loved by many. He was used to count scores. Where were his rugged men when he needed them? Tunde salawu remain the only mystery to me till date I can only confirm he was killed by Aiye, was he a member of SEC or a sympathiser of SEC?

I am really sad with how cultism has gone viral on Nigerian streets , if things continue this way, does our country have a future?

The lyrics of Monsters you made is cool, the song is nice but the video is trash.

We that are active here have to say "No to Cultism" at all costs. I am a fan of some popular musicians like 9ice, Tuface, Flavour but once they promote cultism in a way or the other, they should be condemned. Theirs is even worse as their influence drags many others to cultism in the name that it is actually a good thing. Didn't you see story and video last year of the Uniport graduate in Ogun state who was a cultist and had an issue and was shot while detained by the police? I will post the video of it. When this guy was dying in the pool of blood, he said it clearly "Davido, I be Strongman". You see, pop culture is deep. It controls the drive of the youth. Right now, Nigeria is suffering an epidemic of sexual immorality, drug abuse, fraud and cultism and these youth ambassadors are not helping. "Science students" was the national item for drug abusers then, thank God that song quickly faded away. By the way, below is that video of the late cult guy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXwoakDaMZ0

Now let me say why monsters you made video is very wrong
1. It celebrated cult culture.
Look at the berets. The uniform in dressing plus the rugged babes. The smoking and drinking. Every young cultist will have an affinity when they see the video.
2. It encouraged robbery
As in, that was a freaking bullion van that was robbed in the ending scene. These guys were actually training with guns to rob a bullion van. Unfortunately, nobody who robs a bullion van burns the money. Even me, I won't. The burning was a facade.
3. It encourages militancy.
The training, having to hold AKS, etc. No freaking way. This is not what Nigeria needs right now. We know say Nigeria bad. But having militants back because our economy is messed up wont save the country. The militants were given a lot of money for amnesty, how many really used it to develop their communities or build up businesses or expand fishery. Hell no, it was to build houses for themselves and live irresponsible lives. Those that were at the head of distributing amnesty funds, used it to fund a major airline in Nigeria to enrich their pockets. No, we dont need militancy. As far as I am concerned, that video should not have TV airplay.

Burna boy has no solid moral values. Dont think the message in the video is to better the youths.

Hmmm.... You are entitled to air opinions anyways.

I opined that the lyrics of the song is in accordance to the video. Thereby translating its meaning to the outsider. You as a Nigerian may see beyond that because of his cultism involvements.

The music is clear .... It says you made the monsters who are the monsters? Cultists, Militants, thieves....

You don't expect to see videos of girls or little boys dancing something like that. I would not want to hype the video as we are not yet for that anyways.

The song speaks of Monsters of the society. The monsters made by the government who in turn reached out to violence as the only means to channel their cry.

Its not just cultism.

You have a point. Yeah the society made a lot of people monsters. But i still stand by the fact that it is not a positive message. Someone like me, bad as e bad, I will never hold a gun to rob because I have been frustrated by the leadership neither will I join a militia.

If everyone is to become a monster because of irresponsible leadership, Welcome to Somalia or Liberia two decades ago. A failed state. We go nowhere.

This word FEM has been normal norms in families to ask their wards to keep shut when they do wrong or crying. But now that cultism has taken over this, it may literally mean shut up in other ways best known to the communicator. Hearing Davido saying fem didn't occur to me to be cultist slangs because African woman uses this word a lot.
